jaycee24ParticipantTrade Andre Drummond to CLE for Tristan Thompson and Cedi Odsman and BKN pick
Shed a little money while gaining a chip
Blake Griffin to BKN for Damare Carrol and Jeremy Lin
Straight cap flexibility move might even have to settle for Crabbe instead of one of these 2
Trade Reggie Jackson and this year’s 2nd for Terrance Ross
It sucks giving up a pick for cap space but it’s worth it for Detroit to have now have 50 million coming off the books
Secure a top 5 pick in the 2019 draft.
You have Kennard Johnson Brooklyn pick and maybe Henry Ellenson to build around (yikes) now you trust the process like you should have every year since about 2008
Hopefully they are contending by mid 20’s
Seriously this teams best case scenario

esperanzafleet69Participanti just think… what would sam hinkie do?

Celtics3178Participantas shocked as I am to say this I don’t hate what the pistons are doing. I think Drummond and Blake can co exsisit and be absolute monsters on the glass. The rest of the team is a complete mess but they can make small moves and get some help. Not everyone can be golden state.

BeardedDragon84Participantman… whoever takes over for Stan has gotta be a great negotiator if they are getting the Brooklyn Pick. Much more likely Detroit is on the playoff bubble for the next 3 years before blowing it up. Not that I disagree they should, just that they could get that Much!

220ParticipantAgreed, I don’t see Brooklyn trading any first round picks in the near future as they are finally getting the full rights to their picks back after the Billy King trade every pick to Boston debacle. Billy King is largely responsible for Boston being who they are today, unfortunately he was Brooklyn’s GM.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantKennard is a big piece. Build around him and Blake

mcbaileyParticipantSo basically go into the myleague settings and turn on trade override. Got it.

220ParticipantIf I was running the Pistons I’d definitely be inquiring what I could get for Griffin, Jackson, and maybe even Drummond. I don’t like two of a teams top 3 players being injury prone. If someone was willing to offer solid options for Jackson that don’t involve taking back bad or lengthy contracts or giving up first round picks I’d probably pull the trigger. The Pistons have spent a lot of money to be a fringe playoff team in the East. I am curious to see how Griffin and Drummond can perform together after a training camp though.

Andv1 WaitingParticipantPersonally I would fire Bower as well-The Gm that came in with Stan…Go full rebuild in that regards.
They have 2 options: Do small moves and retool so a young player and a toxic deal(Reggie J for Example) for a Expiring yet average deal…This helps you build around Blake and Andre(mostlikely their cornerstones) as those two deals maybe hard to move.
or
Full trade everything and I mean everything for any of the following: Picks,Young players with promise or Picks..The only shame about doing to a full on tank job Stan gave up a few draft picks to get Blake..This would be the flat tire process I call it…
Teams that may go after Blake.
I could see teams like OKC(if P.G bails),Phoenix(if they wanted to convince Booker to re-up),Dallas-trying to get a post Dirk big name,Pelicans if they want to get a stretch 4 to play more of an uptempo front court for Gentry.Portland if they want to get a 2/3rd option on offense to help carry them when their back court is struggling…
Teams that may go after Andre D:
Suns-If they want a young big that could play uptempo system/like Gobert if the Jazz system is placed.
Lakers-A big that can run with Ball,Kuzma, and Ingram.
Clippers if D.J bails.
The Bucks if they want a rim protector to help G.A.
Cavs-if they want to move T.T and his traveling show…. This may take the nets pick though, but that would most likely only be moved if Lebron re-ups first…
The Knicks if they want a rim protecter with K.P
Miami-If they want to move Hassan and give a pick up to make it work.. Could appeal to the both sides.
But if they move their 2 best players they will be bad for a long long time and no good coach would want to go their until som reasonable talent was there.

Miko4rm206ParticipantI like the idea of bringing back Jerry Stackhouse as a Head coach.
Kyle Lowry, Bradley Beal, Mike Conley, Terry Rozier, and CJ McCollum are All guys who could be moved for the right price. I also like Signing I.T as a Free agent.
Reggie Jackson and Stanley Johnson would be placed on the tradeblock. They are not a good fit and maximizing the potential of BG and Drummond up front which alone should be able to get you in the playoffs. That’s a top 3 front court in the NBA. But just like boogie and Ad. I think a off season and more time to gel will be good for Drummond and BG

ChoppyParticipantIf IT comes cheap, he should be our first signing, or a sign and trade with the Lakers if that’s possible under the CBA. He can’t defend but he’s instant offence. Hopefully Drummond will make strides as a defender this off season which will cover some of IT’s weaknesses.

HobbyOGParticipantImagine if they had Donvan Mitchell on this team…This will hunt more then drafting Darko #2.

Andv1 WaitingParticipantNot disagreeing about that it may haunt them but…
Two things though:
Stan probably wouldn’t have gave him such free reign vs what the Jazz could afford to do post Hayward.
and
His play style is similar to Stan J which they already had on the team..Which may not have worked in Stan V’s system..

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantThe Blake-Drummond combo had a very limited time last season to gel and Jackson wasn’t even on the court. Considering how much you invested in this, I think you have to at least give it a chance to work. Hopefully, they gel better this year and guys like Kennard and Johnson continue to develop and become solid role players. Maybe look for some undervalued guys on free agent market who can contribute (I actually thought Anthony Tolliver was solid for them last year). Isaiah Thomas could be a possibility as well. While you should always gauge the trade market for opportunities I don’t think you could really justify a full blown blow it up and tank job at this point. Maybe in a year or two if they are still in the same position and it clearly isn’t working , than you can start to consider that.

Andrew1984ParticipantCould this finally be Tom Izzo time? They definitely need someone who can relate to younger players, and I’m sure Coach Izzo has just about had it with the drama in East Lansing, and he wouldn’t have to move his family.
Maybe they flip one of their bigger names for a pick, and pair Jaren Jackson with his college coach?
This would at least keep the fan base interested and invested, but much easier said than done.

Bad DogParticipantConsidering the current cap crunch almost all teams are in, Detroit is going to have their work cut out finding a team willing to take on one of Jackson, Drummond, or Blake, let alone all three. Honestly, their best bet is probably just to ride out the contracts for now. Blake and Drumond are all-star level players and at least will be attendance draws and generate revenue. If Detroit tried to replicate what the 76ers during the Hinkie era, I think the league would step in and take over operations of the team. It may seem like a good idea to intentionally tank in an effort to help build for the future but it’s bad for business. The 29 other franchises will have something to say about it if they believe one of their business partners is not fielding a quality product and will demand action be taken.

cominup7ParticipantDetroit DOES NOT need a rebuild, just a retool.
BG and Drummond are a beastly combo in the frontcourt, I really like their blend of skills together and think they complement each other perfectly. What did SVG in was never finding a true lead PG like in his ORL days…they needed a Jameer Nelson to bring it all together, and the RJax/Ish Smith/Galloway was probably one of the worst PG groups in the league
Trade Jackson to a PG-needy team for bench depth/picks, add shooters to surround the bigs, continue to develop Kennard, Ellenson and Stan Johnson

BKGingerSnapParticipantPistons get Howard, Batum, Kidd-Gilchrist
Hornets get Griffin and Drummond
I think this trade makes sense for Pistons if they want to improve their cap situation and if they have real buyers remorse about Blake and hornets do this because they have to atleast try pairing Kemba with Grffin and Drummond rolling the dice.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/10/2018 - 5:20pm #1116620

ChoppyParticipantDetroit says hell no! If we’re not getting Kemba back, we’re not giving up Drummond or Griffin.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 05/11/2018 - 11:02am #1116672

Bad DogParticipantAbsolutley not. Blake and Drummond may be flawed players but they are not scrubs by any means and more importantly, they generate revenue since they are recognizable to the casual fan. Most people who watch basketball are casual fans and have never heard of Batum or MKG and Howard is no longer the star he was several years ago. Why would any GM worth his salt trade "money-in-the-bank" for a couple of role players no one has ever heard of on bad long-term contracts? Even if the Hornets included 1st round picks it still would be a bad deal.
