rvan14ParticipantMarc Stein reports a potential deal.
Sac gets Josh Smith (and his 3 yr/40.5mil)
Det gets Derrick Williams and Jason Thompson
Obviously a salary dump for Detroit after the failed experiement of Smith/Monroe/Drummond trio. Sac gets a front court guy to pair with Cousins and Gay. A lot of money between Gay and Smith’s contracts, but would be a nice gamble for a team looking to create some excitement for their city.

Ebown5ParticipantNot horrible for the Pistons. It would give them a lot more flexibility, but is a real lesson in Salary restraint. Smith is way too talented to need to be given away like this.
The kings certainly win the deal on talent.

Hector_Reyes_8ParticipantIt’s a decent trade for both teams. The Pistons get rid of Smith’s contract and Sacramento gets their defensive 4 alongside Cousins. They can then pick Payton or Smart and let Thomas walk. Detroit keeps Monroe, too.

Chilbert arenasParticipantNot horrible? That would be good for the Pistons and an enormous headache for the Kings. If the Pistons were getting back the 8th pick as previously reported there would be a parade in Detroit. If I’m Detroit I get this done ASAP. SVG could also help resurrect Derrick Williams career playing as a stretch 4.

r377ParticipantAs a pistons fan I am more than happy to get rid of Smith. Derrick Williams could still develop into a handy player. Would remind me a bit of Corliss Williamson back in the day.
A Gay – Smith – Cousins frontline would be hilarious to watch…..

Lotto StudParticipantI would only think this means good news for "Timmy Duncan 2.0". Kill me dead but this is what I always envisioned of Greg Monroe.

Hector_Reyes_8ParticipantBut his defense will never be on par with Timmy, and most of his dominance stems from defense.

Lotto StudParticipantI do understand what you are saying, but he always struck me as the next best thing to him.

TyroberParticipantI like it for both teams. The kings can a player that will fit really well next to cousins but also has all star potential. Pistons really seem to be valuing Monroe over smith and rightfully so.

alexsports351ParticipantRemember Derrick Williams was the 2nd pick in 2011, and he had 3 problems in Minnesota:
1. All he got was garbage time because he backed up Kevin Love
2. Rick Adelman is terrible at developing players
3. He’s as thin as a piece of paper and couldn’t defend the post
He should gain weight and be productive in Detroit.

r377ParticipantHasn’t this trade talk ended ? I read the Kings also wanted to unload another contract on the pistons for which the pistons rejected.

cozmojimParticipantIf nothing else I think the Smoove and Boogie show could be the next big reality Tv hit. I love this idea! Hey maybe Sac town can get Swaggy P too!
