aadParticipantIf the pistons stay at the 9th pick who they take?
They need a big to pair with monroe

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantMeyers Leonard and Arnett Moultrie would be a reaches and I’m not big on Tyler Zeller or Jared Sullinger, they should probably just go with Perry Jones and try him out at small forward. Maybe even Jeremy Lamb or Austin Rivers to pair with Brandon Knight.

Future_Scout boardwhat tol said. i think it will be settled in the combine, the front runners are exactly who he said. i would personally go with zeller or pj3. they can play pj3 4/3 and zeller at the 4/5.
if they’re looking for a wing then ross who can play the 2 or the 3

aadParticipantWhat about john henson he would be the perfect fit next to monroe

Future_Scout boardyea im really high on henson, he has a lot of potential and seems like a perfect. but GMs might think is a reach to pick him in the top 10, i think he might be on the side of – high risk/ high reward type of player… but he certainly is in the race, i know DET will take a good look at him. if he does nice in the combine he can pull it off.
im confident that they’ll be looking at terrence jones as well

The QParticipantI don’t think Moultrie is a reach at 9 at all. At least talent wise. If you can swap down a few picks you can do that. But if you want a big it’s gotta be Moultrie IMO.
The good news is that Monroe can play both the 4 and 5, so you do have some flexibility.

Sharp ShooterParticipantI have a few players who comes to mind..I think that they should trade up. Pair Knight with Barnes or Lamb.
Or if they are content with their pick i would pick: either Moultrie or Sullinger. Although Sullinger isn’t nowhere near athletic as moultrie he has fundamentals and ill take fundamentals over athletism anyday. And he’s polished. Look at kevin love he not athletic at all and look how well he’s doing (ditto for monroe) Moultrie would be another solid pick…he reminds me of LaMarcus Aldridge…and then the Pistons can aways go in FA and grab an athletic big like mcGee because after watching a few of denver games i don’t see him fitting in. Although he wouldn’t be a free agent we can package Villi, Gordon and a future pick for him.
Choice 1: Moultrie
Choice 2: Sullinger
Choice 3: Trade up for Barnes or Lamb

mookieParticipantAlot of people are saying pair up someone with Knight. But I think they found something with Knight being with Stuckey. Trust me I was a huge critic of Stuckey being the future of Detroit, but since he’s moved to off guard he’s been ball in. his lack of a j is ok now cuz Knight can shoot and will get better.
So I think they should draft a solid big that can bang and block shots cuz Monroe is more finesse. Drummond would be a great fit. I’m not high on sullinger, I think he’s too undersized in the NBA. He’ll be a better version of maciel offensively. Or id love for them to take Perry Jones but he’s got to play with intensity and heart like Monroe and Knight.
I love me my Pistons!

Winning_TimeParticipantI hate the pick i’ve seen of Austin Rivers, last thing they need is another guy who isn’t sure what to play concerning PG or SG. I really like the idea of PJ3 but i feel like he may be a bit of a reach, I have Sullinger as my pick because I could see them maybe matching Monroe with someone with sort of slow game like him, Arnett Moultrie would be good here too, gives some atheleticism. I think the Pistons biggest need is at SF though, but there aren’t really any guys worth taking in front of the guys i just mentioned at that #9 pick IMO

omphalosParticipantI’d probably go with Henson at 9 if they are looking for a partner for Monroe. He provides shotblocking at the 4, has a nice mid-range shot so he won’t crowd the paint for Monroe, and has the sort of length which will make an impact, even in the NBA. The knock on him is that has struggled to put on weight, but with an NBA nutritionist and training staff they’ll help him bulk up at least a little more. That said, bulk isn’t everything when it comes to defending, just look at Garnett, if they can just make Henson strong, his lack of bulk won’t matter too much.

TruettParticipantStuckey is way better now that he is an off guard. His J has gotten a little better this year too. Because you are stuck with Ben Gordon and just re-signed Stuckey…I think Detroit should avoid the wing players at the top of the draft unless someone like Barnes or MKG drops (which is super unlikely right now).
Picking for the pistons has got to be scary. Someone posted something the other day and then someone earlier in the thread said something similar that made me realize they have bad comps to a lot of the players you can project to them in positions of need. For example:
Brad Beal -> Ben Gordon
Perry Jones/Moultrie -> Villanueva
Terrance Jones -> Jerebko
Sullinger -> Maxiell
The worst thing is that all of these players are on long term contracts! Way to go Joe, you can either take two steps backward (if you draft one of these players) or one step back and one step forwards (draft someone who pans out after signing the aforementioned comp to a bad contract). Personally, I drank the koolaid on Perry Jones and I think he is a great fit for the Pistons, but I could see T. Jones or Sullinger (if his weight is under control) being good fits too. Do you think that either Jones will try out with the wings or the big men?

fennisdemboParticipantZeller will get serious consideration, someone that big who runs as well as he does would be a nice addition up front for them.

NihochuParticipanti think picking players like Rivers or Lamb won’t be good for the Pistons as they all ready have a lot of scorers and they don’t need more players who take a lot of shots
