Sharp ShooterParticipantI know there’s alot of talk about the pistons new front line of smith monroe and drummond. All three are not the best shooters. Although we signed Luigi Gatome, we still need a starting big man that can shoot outside consistently(15-20 ft.).
Which brings me to this: Why not ship Greg Monroe (and a few other players like Villanueva and Singler) to portland for lamarcus aldridge. This gives the pistons more space on the floor and a go to big man. Also this gives portland a good passing big, and a 2nd scorer behind Damion Lilard. And continues to strengthen their bench with shooters in Kyle Singler and Charlie V.0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/10/2013 - 9:58pm #818433

WolfRobParticipantwould portland be interested…?

Sharp ShooterParticipantI think that Portland will be interested if the offer was right from the pistons. Also, I believe LaMarcus is gonna bolt portland the second he become a FA. Also Greg Monroe, being a pistons next season isn’t guaranteed.

GrandmamaParticipantPortland isn’t trading Aldridge for Monroe and a cast of bums.

ItsRainingNegsParticipantThe only thing I agree with you on is when Aldridge hits the FA market he’s leaving Portland without a doubt.

CoachLinkParticipantLamarcus made it known hes not happy he wants out, i like the idea…. monroe could hit the mid range jumper without a doubt hes energetic id like to see him and lillard….but if i was the pistons do i play smith at the 3? not me personally hes a liability guarding quicker and smaller 3s beyond the three point line, he cant shoot id play off of him and make him shoot the 3…i dont like it

kobyzParticipantPistons should be trying right now to make some more moves cause it look like they want to be competitive after the J Smooth sign, they have the capacity to do so… here is personal idea i had in mind:
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mtjo2tj (taking Camby is not a must, only if they like)Evan Turner/Will Bynum
Brandon Knight/Kyle Singler/Kim English
Rudy Gay/Luigi Datome/Khris Middleton
Josh Smith/Charlie Villanueva/Tony Mitchell
Greg Monroe/Marcus Camby/Vyacheslav Kravtsovthan they could amnesty Charlie V and be left with around 12-14 million in cap space to still keep very nice flexibility to add improve the team even more…

esperanzafleet69ParticipantI feel like im taking crazy pills! Why would the pistons trade Monroe at all? Drummond is still soooooooo raw and Monroe will still spend a ton of time at center this year. I’ve heard these same rumors for rondo on the radio around here and its just so stupid.. Andre drummond just isn’t ready for significant minutes yet.. he’s prone to foulsand can’t make a freethrow to save his life.. as much potential that he has, he still needs time to develop on the second unit.

fennisdemboParticipantThe NBA is going small ball so why not go big and pound it inside. Nobody can argue that this team wont be able to get stops. If some of the younger talent can contribute from 3Pt range this team could be hard to beat. With more cap space coming next year I would be patient until the right vet becomes available to help at the guard spot.

r377ParticipantThe NBA is going small becuz of all the weak true centre’s in the league. Ewing, Hakeem, Shaq, Robinson, Mourning would all be better than Dwight Howard.
The league needs a new dominating centre – there isn’t much strong competition these days…

Zeke313ParticipantWhy is everyone so quick to trade Monroe? Is it that inconceivable that he might just develop a 15 ft jumper? What’s the rush to trading him now when we can wait until the trading deadline to assess the fit?

r377ParticipantMonroe is our best player and could be on the all-star team this year. He is part of the pistons long term plans so i don’t know why ppl are saying to trade him either.
He is also one of the best passing big men in the league….
