r377Participant2010 we were looking at Monroe, Ed Davis and Aminu. I had my fingers crossed with Monroe and we got him.
2011 with the 8th pick I had Tristian Thompson being picked and Brandon Knight going to Utah at no 3. I almost had a heart attack when he fell all the way to 8. I haven’t been that happy on draft day since we took Grant Hill.
Both players look like potential all-stars which now leaves us to the 2012 draft. For the record I am hoping we get MKG. I love this guy, he may never be a 20ppg all-star but i love his heart and he does all the little things to make his team successful. He would fit in perfectly with fellow Wildcats Knight and Prince. In fact playing and learning from Prince would be perfect for MKG. I think he will put up Prince like numbers stats wise, maybe even a bit better….
If we dont’ get MKG I wouldn’t mind T-Rob, Beal or J.Lamb (have stuckey as 6th man). If we pick lower and get pick 11-14 I wouldn’t mind John Henson. He might only be an average pick and get 12-8 with a couple of blocks but I would be happy at taking him 11-14.
Players I dont not want to see in a Pistons uniform – Barnes, Perry Jones or Moultrie.
Joe Dumars – if by some miracle chance you are reading this please please play Charlie V and Ben Gordon 30+ mins a night so we can pick as high as possible…

PlatypusParticipantI agree with the MKG pick, Daye has just been a dissapointment this year, but i’m hoping we go big. Ben is gone after this year, Maxiell is a energy player, Charlie V needs to be amnistied, Macklin isnt developed/skilled enough to start and Jerebko (my favorite piston) should be coming off the bench as combo 3/4. But again MKG is a great fit, but we need a big more.

clawlinParticipantIf the Pistons were to win the lottery, I think Anthony Davis would be tremendous alongside Monroe. He could make up for the defense lost by the retiring-after-this-season Ben Wallace. I think Sullinger and T-Rob would fit really well beside Monroe if the Pistons were to get a lower pick. If they get J-Lamb or Beal, I see Stuckey asking for a trade…

Mr. 19134ParticipantTristan Thompson would of been a perfect fit alongside Monroe tho as an athletic shot blocker wit major hops. Plus Monroe is such a great passing big Thompson would benefit greatly from having Monroe in the high post passing him an oop as he cuts back door. But Brandon Knight was a steal.
I still think that the Pistons should grab an athletic PF to go alongside Monroe. Perry Jones, Thomas Robinson, Arnett Moultrie would be great fits. Heck even Sullinger and Monroe down low would be like the Grizzles power frontcourt of Zbo and Gasol.
But the Pistons are in a great position looking towards the future. Tho I’m not sure if Stuckey fits in their future. If I were Dumars I would try gutting the whole team and build completely around Knight and Monroe. They should be able to get another first round pick, and getting a player like Terrence Ross, Tyler Zeller (who can play PF) or John Henson to compliment whatever they decide to do with their top pick would be amazing. They’re be set up like the Blazers were with Aldridge and Roy and a slew of young prospects.

OhCanada-ParticipantDetroits draft board should look like this.
Anthony Davis
Harrison Barnes
Mike Kidd Gilchrist
Andre Drummond
Thomas Robinson
Jarred Sullinger
Anything else would be a dissapointment…Detroit is slowly becoing one of my favourite teams I hope they get one of these guys.

TruettParticipant…Stuckey is the pistons second best offensive player (behind Monroe) Personally, I think Knight has the potential to be great, but he is still a long way off (especially with his ball skills), so I wouldn’t trade Stuckey just yet. If you could trade Gordon for a late 1st round pick, I think I would do it in a heartbeat (Boston, LA???), but his contract is pretty combersome and I think he has a player option for next year so you would probably have to take back some garbage too…
I think the Pistorns should look to draft a pf with their first rounder obv. Davis or Drummond would be nice, but they would have to get lucky to get those players… that leaves Sullinger, T-Rob, Moultrie, Henson, with Zeller and Leonard being potential picks at center. Obviously draft position is not set right now so it is all speculation, but I think Sulliger is probably the best fit with Monroe because he can play inside and out and is strong enough to defend some centers. I could see both Monroe and Sullinger averaging 15+pts and 9reb next year while shooting in the mid-high 50s, which would really change the way teams have to play the Pistons. T-Rob and Moultire have been playing well, but I think they are going to have a rough transition to the pro’s because of their size. Henson is another one facing a rough transition and while I like his defense, I think that he has bust potential and a low ceiling (taller Haslem?), so taking him would be a reach. Zeller and Leonard are both decent center prospects, but I do not know if Monroe is fast enough/has the handles/outside shot to play at 4 all the time so they might not be great fits.
A player that everyoneis down on(with cause), who I think might be a decent fit for the Pistons is Perry Jones. I dont think that Jones is going to be a good fit for a lot of teams, as he seems to be crumbling under the scrutiny he is getting, which only creates more scrutiny… He would probably benefit from dropping in the draft so there are lower expectations of him. However, The Pistons’ locker room is much better this year than last and I also think that Jones needs to go to a team without too many headcases on it (not Sacramento). Also his two top strengths that will transfer to the pros are his atheleticism and ability to move without the ball. Greg Monroe is a great passer out of the high post and Stukey, Knight, and Prince are all pretty willing passers as well. Jones is the type of player who can take advantage of that and finish or get to the line due to his athleticism and size. Additionally, he likes to shoot from the outside as well so he might be able to open things up inside for Monroe. That said he is probably going to drop out of their drafting range so they won’t take him.
I do not think the Pistons should be looking to draft a wing if they have to hold onto Gordon, they have a lot of money tied up in him and while their situation on the perimeter is kinda wierd right now, I dont think that drafting a rookie is the solution to their problems there (maybe addressing it in FA is better). Also, they just paid Prince and he still has a couple of decent years left in him, so I think it is a little premature to draft a replacement right now, unless it is someone who can play mutliple positions (2-3 or 3-4) and challenge him for the spot during camp. Because I dont think that there is a person in this draft who fits this order (maybe T.Jones, but he is going to be mid 1st and thus out of their range right now), I would look towards taking a PF.

torontoraptors10ParticipantI think Thomas Robinson would be a great fit for the Pistons..

nick5354ParticipantIn 6-8 years time we will look back at ladt years draft and talk about how much of a steal Knight was at #8. If they’re picking at 4-7ish I think Robison would be a perfect fit with the Pistons. He is just an animal. Would be a great front court. And Robison isn’t a 3-4 year PF project. Knight, Monroe and Robison will provide a great future with Detriot.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI remember when Austin Daye had a great game against the Heat this season, he was being called a poor man’s Kevin Durant.
Actually, the thread is right here:
