"Melo hasnt won here, he would be better off somewhere else" he stated today. Wow, so with Melo going this summer where do the knicks go from here? And where does Melo go

I think he goes to Clippers or Chicago. Also the Knicks need a franchise player bad in the draft. I think Fox, Dennis Smith or Tatum can be nice for them

Would Orlando want another aging forward to stunt their young development?

Is it ridiculous to think Boston might offer the Nets 2018 pick and Memphis 2019 pick (Top 8 protected) for Melo?  If it is, and the Knicks only wanted picks, what do you think would be fair?

Adding Melo and a top 2017 pick, plus organic growth might propel them to a true contender level.

    Thoughts?

Yeah no thanks on that one. Good luck finding a package of Celtics players to match Melo’s contract.  Outside of Horford nobody is on a deal over 10mil going forward.  It would take putting in players like Crowder and Bradley and then you’re talking about adding in the 2018 Nets pick and 2019 Memphis pick?

He can talk all he wants about moving on from Melo but Phil can’t do anything without Melo agreeing to the trade.  Melo can sit there and force the Knicks to cut him or buy him out if they truely want to get rid of him.

Extremely ridiculous, no way Boston even offer the Net’s pick let alone anything else for him. Anthony has a 15% trade kicker to in his contract that means he gets 30M/yr if he agrees to a trade. No one is going to give up a top 10 pick for him.

And that’s my point.  Celts have 70 mil on the books for next season.  They can do the trade, add Melo and say his 25 mil, plus the first round picks money…say 4 mil, and still be 10 mil under the new project 110 million cap.  Then they can resign their free agents.

They have very good defense and could use an experienced scorer like Melo.

I am not saying it’s optimal, but if you add say Fultz and Melo to the current team the word loaded comes to mind.  Unless of course you think I am loaded for making the suggestion, LOL

And my point is if you’re gutting the team to put together a package to match the contract why not do it for a younger player like Butler or PG instead.  If you take Crowder, AB, and Zeller that gets you around 25mil but that’s still not enough to match Melo with the trade kicker.  Hypothetically if the Knicks are getting Crowder and AB why would the Celtics need to add the 2018 Nets pick in there too?

Sam Presti would be smart to make a call to Melos Agent, Westbrook would get Carmelo a lot of open looks.

Cmon man. Melo wont go play in Oklaholma City. He needs a big market for his brand.

If I was Melos agent, Im pitching him hard to play for the Thunder. Its a perfect opportunity to redefine his image (playing for a blue collar market) If he plays well OKC will worship him and it could be exactly what he needs to get his passion back for the game.. I think the New York media has really got him in a complacent mindset and a change of scenery where he can focus on basketball will do wonders for his career..

Only way I’m trading for Melo is if I’m getting him for cheap. Contract is awful and he doesn’t play a style that allows him to fit simply into any team. I don’t see why Boston would want him – wouldn’t fit and he’s not good enough anymore where you are willing to overlook fit becasue of superior talent.

I hope he continues to rot in NY. Melo is one of more unlikeable stars in the league and he spent a long time seemingly more interested in building his brand and playing in a big market – more power to him for that – but I kind of like the idea that he gets punished for it by playing on a Knicks team that will be average for as long as he’s there.

The Celtics do not have to send any players to the Knicks.  So if you don’t like the trade, that’s fine, but that’s not the right reason.  The Celtics will be under the new cap by 40 million, salaries do not have to match.

The new projected cap is somewhere around 101-103mil.  From what I understand Boston would need to make moves in order to open the cap space you’re talking about.  That involves renouncing the rights to free agents (Amir Johnson & Jerebko), no QO to Olynyk, and potentially keeping draft picks stashed (Zizic, Abdel Nader & Yabusele).  Other moves include waiving Tyler Zeller and Jordan Mickey (both non-guarenteed) and trading away Demetrius Jackson.

Melo still has that no trade clause so if he says he’s not going anywhere then he can legit stay put. He could even opt in for 2018-19 if he wanted to stick two fingers up to Phil.

So what options do the Knicks have – find Melo a team he’d be happy with even if they don’t get much back,be stuck with him or waive him and stretch his buyout over 4 years. If they threatened to waive/buy him out then he might look at a trade more favourably. But would James Dolan sign off any Melo buyout I wonder.

When looking at the trade, to interest Melo, it would need to be a win now team which would have cap space to take on his salary.

I’d discount Boston unless they offered those two guys they have stashed as they aren’t putting a top 3 pick in exchange for Melo.

Chicago is an interesting one, they have one go at it with D-Wade, Melo and Butler. That might be a move Melo would agree to.

Clippers would interest Melo but contracts would not add up with them having major FA’s to retain.

Dallas has cap space but are a lottery team and Melo and Dirk pushing 40 are unlikely to contend.

A total wildcard would be Miami, nice climate, good tax rate, if they could buyout Bosh then might that appeal to Melo. It wouldn’t be long term there so they may consider it.

I think this needs to be said but it almost seems luke Phil is trying to make things worse in New York. I completely expected him to turn things around here but hes done a terrible job. To openly announce you want him out of New York completely ruins any trade value he had and with his no trade clause the only partners would be the Cavs and Clippers anyways. This year its as if he tried to sabotage the team with his constant bashing of Melo and attemots to add unnecessary pressure. When they were floating around 500 they lost alot of close games and I think in a lighter environment with more positive reinforcement and trust thisbteam could have been a playoff team. Now they are on the verge of releasing the player they just signed to a Max Contract when it was obvious they shouldnt have resigned him in the first place and you blame the player? I truly think he is going senile and losing his mind.

Toronto is close to going to the Finals – maybe San Antonio could revitalize him, but both will only take him at bargain basement price. Doubt Clippers can keep their core together and add him…

See if You can trade Prozingus for Okafor, then get another 7 footer

Everyone can stand around & watch

Unfortunately the game is not played that way anymore & there is no way to win w/ a Star who holds the ball for 20 seconds at a clip

Melo ain’t voluntarily leaving NY – Phil Jax Begged him to stay in NY & gave him a no trade clause so I just don’t see how they move Melo w/o buying him out & cutting him

Jackson has beeen a Disaster as GM & this is why Front Office & Ownership are SO important – Everyone must be on the same page to win & rich kids who inheret Pro sports franchises have No idea how to run a Hot Dog stand let alone a Billion Dollar business

I really feel for the Knicks fan base b/c if Jackson is not careful he is gonna poison the well w/ the unicorn & he will leave at some point

Chandler Parsons contract, JaMychal Green sign and trade, James Ennis, Wade Baldwin, and two future first round picks for Carmelo.

I would offer the spurs Melo in return for a first round pick in this years draft or next year. Melo would get a chance to compete for a title and the Knicks can wash their hands of him.
