SnowtaParticipantAs a Wolves fan I’m pretty interested in the PF prospects that will be in the 2016 draft. I think a solid PF starting alongside Towns is the #1 issue that needs to be addressed (you could argue PG is 1a). Obivously Simmons would be amazing, but assuming we don’t get the #1 pick who do people think is the best PF prospect in the draft outside of Simmons? I haven’t got to watch as much college basketball this year as normal, so I haven’t seen all these guys play a ton but I really like Ivan Rabb. I think Rabb and Towns length and athleticism that could be a great frontcourt combination for a long time. First question, what do people think of Rabb as a potential fit next to Towns? Second, is there another PF prospect you’d take over Rabb (Bender, Ellenson, Sabonis, etc.)?

BiggysmallsParticipantRabb has to be the top guy if the Wolves are set on taking a PF. I’d still rather have Kris Dunn for this team, because solid PFs seem easier to find than really good PGs.
Haven’t seen Bender but I’m generally a coward when it comes to Euros. Busts outweigh the guys who have been successful for me…thats just a personal take though.
Not a big fan of Sabonis…at least in the lottery. Not sure what he does well enough to warrant a high-level prospect ranking aside from bloodlines.
I like Ellenson too. Not sure he’s a top-5ish pick, but if somehow the Wolves have a big second half of the year and are picking in that 8-12 range, he’d be on my list.
Right now, I think the Wolves board, excluding Simmons because we already got our No.1 pick, no way it happens again, would be like this:
1. Ingram
2. Dunn
3. Rabb
4. Murray

WarblingSpamalopeParticipantI don’t think you can force it when you are drafting that high. I agree they need a pf or a high volume, high percentage 3 pt shooting sg or sf. This team so desperately needs shooting to space the floor out. Watching Ingram do his Durant-light impression makes me think the Wolves might be more lucky if they can luck into pick #2 than pick #1 because of the fit.

SnowtaParticipantYeah I agree. I guess I was just more curious if people think any of the other PFs are top 10 type guys. I do like Ingram and would take him in a second with #2.

TravelinTravParticipantIf the wolves do get the number 1 pick would Simmons be the pick? The wolves are not a good shooting team, and Simmons isn’t a very good shooter, not saying he couldn’t change that. I think Ingram would fit better then Simmons. I also agree with taking Dunn it would be great to have a different PG or even a 2nd option at PG, Rubio has never been challenged for a starting spot maybe a little competition would do him some good.
Ive seen one CAL game and I think Rabb would be a good fit @ PF, I would like to see a bigger body player in the team, right now everyone is long lanky and skinny. With that being said I like Jaylen Brown a lot, although he is a 3 not a 4.
Ingram
Dunn
Simmons
Brown

SnowtaParticipantI think Simmons is still the guy if we were to get #1. Simmons playing point forward with Wiggins, Towns, Shabazz, and Lavine would be a very interesting line up. None of those young guys (besides Towns) are great shooters right now, but none of them have broken shots and I think they will continue to improve their shooting as the get older.

markfitz14ParticipantThis might be the first team in a while that would consider trading a high pick. KG is a good mentor but he has slowed down now. They might want to bring in some better veteran help that is closer to 30 years old. They have two great guys to build around.

circumlocution75Participantthis year – so will the Kings (although Sac-town might be on the come up)…… The Bucks have One winning season in the past 13 years (counting this season as another .500 or sub .500 season) – how many teams have a real shot to win the NBA Title this year? We all know about the Sixers & some other teams….. Golden State, the L.A. Clippers & Atlanta are current success stories who were down & 7 – 10 years ago….. But this is A Lot of bad teams….
15 of 30 NBA teams are below .500……. in 1987 – the last year before the latest expansion – 10 of 23 teams were below .500 but I feel like the teams were deeper & better at the top…… I’m not saying the NBA should return to 23 teams….. maybe 28? or 26? cut….. I’m only asking the question, does anyone think folding 2 Franchises would help the talent pool of the bottom dwellers faster?

BiggysmallsParticipantWhen was the last time a team traded a top-5 pick in the draft? The last high level pick I remember getting dealt was the Pelicans trading for Holiday, which I think was the 6th pick.
Beyond that, you don’t see teams trade proven assets for picks often.
I don’t view Rubio as a starting PG for a playoff team. He’d be a great backup…elite level backup, but I think Dunn would be a great fit for the Wolves. They obviously need to find shooting at other spots but team shooting looks better if your PG shoots better than 33 percent.

connybucketsParticipantYou definitely give Ingram a look if he’s there. If not him then Rabb, Dunn, or Bender. Shooting to me isn’t a big problem what with Towns being a good one. Will Zach LaVine develop into an above average player is the question

BiggysmallsParticipantShooting is problem 1, 2 and 3 for the Wolves and defense/experience would be a long 4 and 5 if you exclude a new coach.
Rubio is statistically the worst shooter in NBA history and none of their wings are known as good shooters.
If your starting center is your best shooter, shooting is a huge problem.

TeslaBallerParticipantSimmons and Bender are the only PFs better than Rabb. The Twolves draft board should look like this:
Simmons
Ingram
Bender
Rabb
Brown, Dunn, Poletl
If they get a top 4 pick you take whoever is there in that order. #5 pick or lower is where decisions need to be made. Assuming those top 4 are gone.
Anyone of the next 3 could help the team. They play KAT at the 4 spot if Poletl is the BPA, Dunn is a definite upgrade from Rubio. An while I think Wiggins and Brown’s best position is SG, where their length and athleticism gives them an advantage on O and D as opposed to being matched up against taller and just as athletic SFs. You don’t pass on Brown just to take a PF if they feel Brown could be special and he’s the BPA.
I think Bender is the best fit for the team and to play along side KAT. If they come out this draft the Twolves should have interest in Deyonta Davis, Skal and Zimmerman. In which case you could trade down a bit to take any of those 3 players because their pick will be a little too high to justify picking 1 of them.
