I’m a Thunder fan so I’ve kept a close eye on Jones the past 3 years.  I think it’s a great bet on a player who still has untapped potential.  I agree that Stevens could be the right coach to get all of his talents to show.

Turner, Crowder, Young, Sullinger, Lee and possibly Amir Johnson and Kelly Olynyk for stretches…

I agree that PJ3 is a talented player who has always needed a Team and Coach to believe in him, he wasn’t given those chances in OKC and for good reason

Im happy to see him potentially earn a larger role in Boston, but lets not forget he still has a lot of players ahead of him on the depth chart, the reality is he may never be a starter in the NBA, can he carve out a role off the bench though?

Finally the much anticipated moves from the Thunder to shed some salary are going to to down, now there is Novak left on the list…

i think it’s kind of funny that from the second a talented player but enigma like PJ3 is on the move everyone is aticipating a breakout or at least some progress from him…

I’ve seen enough from him to not expect much from him in Boston. The Celtics are equally deep on the forward spots and I don’t really think he is going to see more than 15 minutes there. On the other hand the Thunder always seem to trade their pieces to teams who can use them, see Jeff Green, Jackson, Harden or even Lamb who I think has a much better chance to shine in Charlotte than PJ3 in Boston. 

He is still young and if he is showing a bit (or maybe a bit more) of willingness and drive under Stevens he can become a versatile player for them. 

I wish him nothing but the best! Hoped he would be more of an impact player for OKC but it’s how it is.

He’s a niche-less role player currently so if he doesn’t make some serious progress I think he’ll find himself on the fringes. Seriously, what role does he play? He’s not smart, he’s not an energy player. he’s not tough, he’s not a good defender, as a scorer he’s inefficient and doesn’t know how to pick his spots, he’s not a respectable enough shooter to be considered a stretch. Donte Greene, Shawne Williams? I think PJ3 is cut from the same cloth and I foresee his career following a similar path.

I was screaming at the tv when we drafted Fab Melo.  I was hoping for a Sullinger/Jones combo.  Two studs who fell on draft night.

Hopefully Jones can revive his career at the C’s, otherwise, he might be out of the league.

 I’d like to see the Celtics drop Evan Turner to open up more minutes for James Young and now Perry Jones, but that won’t be happening at this point.

I like Jones as an upside guy, he’s only in his third season and he looked like he’d come a long way when Durant went down and he stepped up, but he just couldn’t stay healthy.

I think he’ll be a long defender at least that we can throw at a Lebron or Melo, and he did a credible job against LBJ back in his OKC days in Durant’s MVP year.

Seems like the perfect guy for a coach with a system based on ball movement and player movement as he won’t be asked to do anything too complicated with the ball in his hands, which has never been a strength of his.

Hopefully he comes into training camp healthy, because he probably has the highest upside of any player on our roster (which is a testament to the low-upside guys we’ve been drafting, but still).

 This is exactly the types of moves that Ainge loves to make. He likes to draft/trade for players who at one time were highly coveted, and getting the #8 ranked player coming out of the 2011 class is no surprise to me. 

I like Jones’ game alot, and think he was brought in because of his potential (He’s still only 23), and we needed another SF, as Young has proven he just isn’t ready. Last year when KD was out, Jones put up around 10/3/1 in 27 mpg, and I think that was a good indicatior of what type of role he could have for the Celtics.
