PulseGlazerParticipantChad Ford in his latest mock has Jones going to Golden State. Could there be a worse fit for Jones than the Warriors who have taken numerous players with a physical profile comprable to Jones over the years and a lack of motor and utterly failed to develop any of them? Could there be a worse situation for Jones? At what point does Golden State realize they simply cannot develop that kind of talent the way they are attempting to and either draft a different type of player or try something different?

sheltwon3ParticipantI like this pick for them. Also the players that they draft they has similiar body types, most are still in the league and doing well. Udoh will be missed. Wright who came out too early is playing well for Dallas. Anthony Randolph is putting up some good number for Minny and may find a team next year that will let them start. Perry is a different type of player than them and he came out after his sophmore year. He could be more like Rudy Gay.

So raspyParticipantThe personnel is different from the Warrior’s team that took Anthony Randolph (im assuming that’s who you’re referring too with the physical profile comment) and I think the team is going in a different direction with Mark Jackson and the moves they made this year. Andd Randolph showed some promise playing for Golden State, more so anyways than he has for Minnesota.
Not to say it would be a good pick, but I don’t believe its the same situation that it has been. Plus who knows, Perry Jones could still wow people. He can make or break a GM’s career, I think the biggest question is can Golden State afford to risk a top ten pick on a possible bust.

mosdefParticipantDon Nelson isnt there anymore. Its a new regime. Does PJ3 fit the body type of the mentioned Udoh, Wright and Rnadolph? Yes, but teams cant just not take people based on that. Anthony Davis fits the body type too, so if GS gets the #1 pick, are they not drafting Davis?

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantEvan Turner is not going to become a 20 plus scorer overnight, he’s a very good second scorer at best IMO…
So I’d rather get a great Shooter/Scorer @ 15 or 16 then reach on a player like Henson or Zeller, the other players you mentioned could be drafted in The 2nd round(Sidney and Melo for sure) BUT I don’t want Meyers Leonard at all at this point, I’d rather see what Vucevic can do for the next few years…We are going to try to resign Hawes too
We need to draft a shooter to surround Holiday and Turner, I believe Iguadola’s time is done in Philadelphia
Turner will slide to SF, and Ross would be brought in to eventually start at SG, here’s an interesting fact, Evan Turner lead all guards in rebounding this year, he’s better off playing the point forward role post IGGY…
Iggy is just no longer needed, other than playing steller defense at times, he brings nothing to the table we can’t get out of Turner and Thad Young…
So We need to draft The Best SG Available with our pick(Rivers or Ross) and then trade Iggy for a young Bigman in the draft(Thomas Robinson or Perry Jones III???)…
Tell me this is not a solid plan???
1. Draft Rivers or Ross(i Like Ross) at 16
2. Trade Iggy early on draft night for a Lottery pick, target Thomas Robinson, Jared Sullinger and Perry Jones III with the pick
3. Then Take a shot in the Second round and get a Renardo Sidney or Fabricio Melo
It’s Addition by Subtraction
Turner gets to handle the ball more at playing Point Forward, Holiday and Ross get to play off the ball, hit open shots and defend the perimeter, Thad gets to play more minutes now that Iguadola’s out the way…
Brand can help teach Sully/T.Rob or PJ3 how to play Pf for a year, he can also help Sidney mature, maybe???
Sidney or Melo can play backup C in 2 years, maybe one of them becomes a good NBA role player…

I think Iguadola and Bogut would be a huge boast to that Team next year, Lacob needs to make a trade, not draft a high risk prospect like Perry Jones III
Steph Curry-Klay Thompson-Andre Iguadola-David Lee and Andrew Bogut sounds like a playoff team to me

McWinningParticipantWell they do need a small forward because Dorrell Wright has struggled. If you look at their starting lineup thats their only weakness, if they could get Barnes that would be great, Jones isnt really that much like Wright, or Randolph, he is a project but he has a lot of upside, it could be a steal for them.

Cosbysweater7ParticipantI actually think Terrence Jones would be a better fit in Golden State then Perry Jones III because it looks like Mark Jackson wants to be more of a defensive team than the past Warriors’ teams, but picking Terrence Jones at 7 might be a bit of reach. They’re pretty much set at every position except SF (barring any injuries) so what they could do is trade down for maybe a couple of picks or take the best player available at 7 and pick a SF with the 30th pick such as Quincy Miller, Royce White, Jeffery Taylor, or Tony Mitchell.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantI don’t think he’s a reach at 7, although some may argue with that, I think he can be a borderline All Star with some good NBA coaching, he does a lot of things on The court, he can rebound, defend and pass the ball very well at times…I like T. Jones in Golden State a lot, but I wonder would he be able to play SF the first few years there, I know we want him to paly SF in the NBA but he could become a Thad Young like hybrid forward off the bench, with better rebounding ability and a stronger frame of course…
Would the Warriors trade The 7th Pick and David Lee for The 15th Pick and Andre Iguadola
The Warriors would select T. Jones at 15 and play him at Pf, they also clear Lee from their Cap
The Sixers would add Lee to replace Brand next year at PF, and move up to select Jeremy Lamb or Brad Beal to Score the ball at SG

I May Be WrongParticipantA lot of good trade scenarios from the artist formly known as Scarecrow lol.
These bigs in the draft around the 15-18 slot are really really risky. I think thats why I’m with you Scarecrow if we can get a solid player who you know what he will bring then thats the best case for the Sixers. I’d role the dice if PJ3 is there but thats about it at this point. Do you think Brand will get amenstied this summer?

1. Why pay him to go away, he’s a good team mate and still provides invaluable defense/toughness, and he’s off the books after the season anyway
2. What free agents are out there worth paying Brand off the books, I love Beasley but I’m paying twice his worth in Free Agency, especially if we have to Amnesty Brand to get him…
3. Dwight Howard is not a FREE AGENT…I belive the Amnesty Clause was a real possibility when Dwight was waffling back in Febuary, but when he "committed" to The Magic he threw everything off course…Without him in This Free Agent crop there’s no need to rush Brand’s contract off the books…we can make some small signings That I think can go a long way

dede21Ok they probably are not horrible at rebounding or interior defense but I still think Jones is the right pick, you are not a title contender and Jones has more upside than anyone in the draft outside of Anthony Davis.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantI know Lee’s deal is ugly but with Brand and Iggy gone, Lee and Thad would be the highest paid players on the Team, Lee is a very good and often under rated Pf/C
If we were able to get Lee and The 7th pick by dumping Iggy and The 15th I think we’d win the deal by far, The Warriors get immediate success and make the playoffs with Bogut and Iggy on board
The Sixers however get the 7th pick, and depending on which Scorer we like more(Lamb, Beal, Rivers or Ross) we’d add a great young guard and All Star Level PF by the time the draft was over
PG-Holiday-Williams-Wayns(2nd round pick)
Lamb/Beal/Rivers or Ross(7th pick) Meeks
Turner-Thad Young-Sam Young
David Lee-Elton Brand-Lavoy Allen
Spencer Hawes-Nikoli Vucevic
The real question is do we resign Hawes??? I don’t see a replacement for him out there in FA, and if we can get him for a modest price and he stay’s healthy I don’t see a problem with keeping him…

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantIf I were drafting 7th and Perry Jones III was there I’d love to draft him and be the guy who got it right, but lets not forget that Team/Owner/GM/Coach/Fanbase want results NOW…They were promised the playoffs and instead went on to tank the rest of the season to get back their Top 7 pick, a lot of fans want that pick to be a Star, sorry guys most likely going to be a role player but They can dream can’t they
I agree Perry Jones has some of the biggest potential in the Draft, maybe even more than Davis and Drummond in some respects(ball handling, passing, shooting)
But The Warriors need to get back into the playoffs before the fans revolt and become Clippers fans…I think a vet like Andre Iguadola makes perfect sense to their ultimate goals, he doesn’t take anything away from Steph Curry, David Lee and Andrew Bogut’s game, in fact he helps them look better by being a solid passer and great defender
Dorrell Wright is not the answer at SF, nor is Richard Jefferson or any player being taken 7th in this draft, not in the way The Owner/GM/Coach need’s him to be next year…I think The Warriors should make a smart decision and trade for an Iguadola type…

PG: Stephen Curry
SG: Klay Thompson
SF: Perry Jones
PF: David Lee
C: Andrew Bogut
That starting five has a future. Yeah, PJIII is a risk, but who outside Anthony Davis is a sure thing? I think that this team would have potential. The last thing the Warriors need to do is get stuck in the middle like the Suns and Rockets. The Warriors need to take some home run swings. Perry Jones would be a home run swing who can actually fill a need.
Last year, they battled injuries and Monta Ellis’ trade rumors were a distraction. With Bogut and Lee they should have enough rebounding and inside toughness. Other than that they actually need more scoring.
Dorrell Wright could then fit in as a sixth man.
This draft would give them their starting five for the future and a core in which they can build around.

cabbycabParticipantI don’t like this projection either, but why do I get the feeling that it is gonna come true. Historically, its just something that GWS would do. As long as I’ve been a fan they’ve had some horrible picks when it comes to frontcourt: Randolf, Wright, Victor Alexander, Andris, Todd Fuller, O’Bryant and on and on. All big guys that are not very intimidating. My new theory is just to draft guards which have worked out nicely: Timmy, Mitch, Monta, Stephen, Sarunas, and now Klay.
PJIII is one big question mark really. If a team could tap into just 60% of his physical potential, it could be worth a shot.

Looks like Warriors screwed up when the reached for centers. Clifford Rozier is another big man that they whiffed on, if I remember correctly. … they did get a good player with Chris Gatling, but that is about it.
Centers and other big men are tough. Most don’t pan out. The Warriors just draft more big men with not much upside. I mean, what was Todd Fuller’s upside, seriously?
The jury is still out on Jeremy Tyler.
Their history shows that they should stay away from reaching on a big man and go with a perimeter guy or a scorer. PJIII would be solid. Or Rivers if they want a combo guard to play with Curry. Their history suggests that Terrence Jones (a tweener forward) or John Henson might not work out.
… the Warriors already have Bogut, Lee, Biedrens, and Tyler up front so I don’t think they need any more bigs. Curry owns the point guard spot and Charles Jenkins played fairly well, with their 2/3 spots being relatively weaker with Klay Thompson, Brandon Rush, and Dorrell Wright playing here. All three are basically 2 guards with Thompson being the best of the bunch. PJIII would fill a need at the 3.
This might actually be the best team for Jones to go to. A young team without much pressure to perform immediately with a few talented players who know how to play (Curry, Klay, Lee, and Bogut). Plus, a young coach who emphasizes defense. PJIII needs structure and a defined role. I think Golden State would give him both.
