I agree with you, and they don’t need him! They have a pg and SG, they need a SF.

Tyreke Evans gets a 4yr/$44mil offer sheet from the Pelicans. Why would anyone pay this guy 11 mil a year? He is a ball dominant SG that has inflated numbers because he plays for a bad team. I bet there isn’t a PG in the league that would want to play with this guy since he needs the ball and can’t shoot.

I don’t get how someone like this gets $11mil a year.

If there’s a sign and trade for him and Vazquez ends up in Sacramento that’s gonna be the perfect situation for him. He’s gonna be the distributor on a team where a lot of guys like to shoot. His defense is a concern, but it’s not like anyone on the Kings actually plays any. I hope that changes with the new staff though.

I assum e this means they’re going to move Gordon if they get him. I think you guys are off with your assessments. I am really curious to see if Sac match it. Surely they won’t since they got maclemore on a rookie contract and I,m thinking Thortons on a good !) mil a year. Tyreke will thrivee in a new environment. And his numbers were that and at all last year while playing out of position.

I like it. He can play SF. for them. He has a 6’11 wing span and a 8’8 reach which is the same or higher than MKG,Thad Young,, Gereld Green, Ronnie Brewer, Corey Brewer and Jeff Green to name a few

Sf is out of the question. His people (manly his 5 bros) stated he will not play sf anywhere regaurdless of the pay. James ham tweeted it, he’s a pretty reliable source.

Put him at SF and you take away his length and strength advantage…but then again..
Put him at SG and he can’t shoot.
Put him at PG and he’ll dominate the ball and make poor decisions.

Players who Tyreke will cost more than: Steph Curry, Jrue Holiday, Ty Lawson, Rajon Rondo…just to name a few.
Is he a greater impact player than any of them? No.
I understand that bidding on other team’s RFAs comes with a premium but this is stupid. I’d rather give Iguodala that money if I were NO. Why not try him first?

Idiot GMs are alive and well.

Wow this is big news but I expect the Kings to match. Not the worst offer to match even if this is a lot of money.

I agree the offer sheet of 11 million per year is a bit high for Evans, but honesty I like the directions the pelicans are going Evans is versatile player who can assume the point guard position, sg or small forward, and it was reported the Pelicans want Evans in a Ginobli kind of role. He is a pretty good defender and has excellent ball handling and excels in the open court. Signing him means they Eric Gordon is expandable, this way the Pelicans have more wiggle room. This team is really young and is full of talent they can fight for the 8th spot next year with teams such as Denver, Grizzlies, Lakers possibly dropping of a bit compared to last year.
    Pg: Holiday/ Vasques
    Sg: Gordon/ Rivers
    SF: Possibly Evans/ Aminu
    Pf: Davis/ Anderson
    C: Lopez/ Amundson
    Not too shabby!

    Poor Austin Rivers.
Did the Pelicans take him in the lotto to be an 8th man?

Saw some stuff on Twitter that they want to keep Gordon and use Evans as a Ginobli type player of the bench. I just don’t like this.

This is like the Pistons going after Josh Smith. These young teams with bright futures try to rebuild to fast and end up overspending on players who aren’t good IQ players and ruin their rebuiliding process.

Evans is way smarter then Smith in terms of shot selection and knowing what he is and isn’t good at, it’s not his fault the Kings are a mess and have a new coach every single year, the kid was rookie of the year averaging 20 pts 5 ast 5 reb, then the Kings go and sign like 5 more wing players for no apparent reason now his minutes are split between them all.

    All of this has meaning…

The traded fro Jru Holiday and so they wanted to upgrade their PG position (although they have a very good one) and aren’t sold that Austin Rivers can play the position (boy was he bad last year).

Tyreke Evans’ pursuit also means they are probably going to look to move Eric Gordon as previously reported. This too means that they don’t feel like Austin Rivers can play the SG position.

Tyreke and Jru are still very young players so where does that leave Austin Rivers?

Back to Tyreke. I am surprised teams like the Spurs; who need a young replacement player or the Lakers who need youth and athleticism or others aren’t going after Tyreke. He has been in a bad culture in Sacramento.

They drafted him and allowed him to be a PG…then they moved him to SG…then to SF..then back to SG/PG last year. He has still produced. He isn’t a great shooter but I feel like being in a good environment will work wonders for his career.

I like what N.O.’s is doing in terms of bringing in young talent. And who knows what trading Eric Gordon can bring back to them in terms of value.

The sad fact is that RFA’s get paid more than they should to leave the teams they are on… I think that most teams w cap space would welcome Evan’s at around 8m/yr… thats around what stuckey gets paid and imo Evans is a better version of Stuckey. So, the result of making a market offer to Evans is Sac can retain the player they drafted at his fair market price, or extract an asset from you to work a sign and trade.

With that in mind, 11m may seem high, but they have to first out bid other teams and second make it high enough so Sacramento cannot force them to give up an asset in a sign and trade. Therefore, if you are asking the question, “why would someone pay 11m a year for Evans?” The answer is because they want him and 11m/yr is better than 9m and giving up vasquez or gordon…

Believe it or not, Evan’s decision making skills really improved this year. he shot 51% of his shots inside this year and made around 63% of those shots… that’s efficient… granted his outside shot is still poor and will likely always be poor. Though he wasn’t handling the ball as much as other players, some metrics suggest that says he was Sacramento’s best player when he was on the court.

Those are the pluses, everyone knows the negatives, what isn’t known is exactly the depth of how dysfunctional the kings franchise was last year. That franchise has not been stable for a long time and I would wager the Pelican’s front office thinks they can motivate him and inspire him to show he is not the player he was in Sacramento.

I seriously would not want a guy like Tyreke Evans on my team. He has no true position and needs the ball too much to be effective.
