I think for us to get him we would need to do a sign & trade & we’d have to give up 2 of our 3 prime assets – Our #1 pick this year (if we keep it) Ingram or Russell (save the jokes I know they are not great players but it’s all we got)

Now some of my fellow fans think we can trade Clarkson, Randle & the Houston 1st round pick which will be around #28 – that’ll Never get it done.

Personally I would keep our pick & take a legit PG (Ball, Fultz, Fox) to play w/ PG13 & give Indiana Ingram & Russell. And maybe we can sign Boogie too & bang we’re back to at least .500 maybe & now we’re cooking wit chicken grease

Sixers made a push for him at the trade deadline.  If they get multiple lottery picks look for them to strike a deal for PG.

 The Pacers have got good cap space but have to factor in that Jeff Teague is an FA and if they bring him back or replace him then that will eat into their cap space quite a bit. But they should have room for one decent FA.

We all know that PG13 has talked about going to Lakers and they may be prepared to wait a year for him. People talk about him leaving money on table but he could do a shorter term deal like LBJ, KD, Westbrook have done and get a mega deal with any new team. Plus Paul is making $19 million next year and new deal with another team is going to be $25 million plus initially rising to over $30 million so he won’t exactly be hard up.

The Pacers don’t have a lot of guys under long contracts so could go into rebuild fairly easily and have a good FO to carry this out. They may be reluctant to mortgage their future if PG13 moves on next summer and it makes rebuilding difficult. They also need to find out what PGs current thoughts are, if he is likely to move on, it may be better to try to move him to a team of choice. The issue being that if he has talked about going to Lakers then another team may not give up huge assets for a likely rental.

Ideally the Pacers would need a team like say Boston to come in for him and maybe start a bidding war which Lakers and others may enter.

Interestingly talking of Westbrook, Harden’s type extensions, I believe that PG13 is eligible for one of these, the Pacers could probably give themselves more breathing space or at worse it increases his trade value to other teams as he is under contract longer plus Paul gets a nice rise.
