    24.8ppg 10.3rbs 4.2ast 1.7blk 52%fg 80%ft playing center

All verses center like Cousins, Dalembert, Robin Lopez, Yao Ming, Marc Gasol, Hasheem Thabeet. Already a top 3 power foward where does Gasol rank if he played center all year……Top 5? Top 3? Number 1?

Gasol would be the second best center.

I’ll show Dwight his respect, but you can actually run an offense consistently through Gasol. He’s a better offensive player and passer than Dwight.

Tough to compare Howard and Gasol cuz theyre polar opposites of each other. Id have to go with howard though. His defensive presence, blocking and altering shots is unmatched. Better have a scoring four though with him.

Gasol is the best center in the league. He can create offense for both himself and his teammates, run the floor, rebound, and actually blocks shots at a pretty high rate as well. No other big guy can give you all those things, and he has BEEN doing that since his Memphis days…Its really not fair that the trade went through.

This is pretty clear cut and dry that Gasol is the 2nd best Center in the league and the best Power Forward in the league.  Howard;s offensive game has really improved this year to the point he is a legit 20 point scorer every night.  He is only playing 30 minutes a game but is still putting up like 22 12 and 3 blocks.

Gasol is the best offensive big in the league period and I don’t think its even close.

    THE Y Factor:

If Yao Ming didn’t have injury problems and wasn’t still recovering right now I still would say he is the best Center in the league.  Yao Ming is just absolutely unstoppable when he is fully healthy.  Yao will get you 25 points a night, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

Gasol is an amazing Center, one of the best big men of our generation and just an absolute international sensation.

But he does not have the same impact on a game as Howard does.  While shooting over 60% Howard only averages a few less points then Gasol in less minutes but also has a bigger defensive presence the any player you may have ever saw play/

You could make the arguement that Dirk Nowitzki is the better PF. He is among the most efficient players in the league, and easily the most efficient for someone with as big a role as he plays for Dallas. Offensively there is nothing Gasol does better than Dirk, and this is apparent as Dirk was a much better number one option than Gasol. Dirk’s defense gets criticized because his role is almost soley offensive, if you put Dirk as a number 2 option than you would see his defensive production increase.

You could argue but you’re not going to win.  Dirk doesn’t pass, rebound, or play defense like Gasol does.  Plus Gasol shoots a higher percent and commits less turnovers.

Dirk’s impact on a game is bigger than Gasol’s. Gasol never gets double teamed immediately as he catches the ball. The only players who can lay claim to that are: Dirk, Wade, Lebron, Melo, Kobe, and Howard. The best way to defend those players is to have them give up the ball. That is what made MJ the greatest, he would routinely be double teamed and still score at ease. If you put Gasol on Dallas they are a borderline playoff team, with Dirk on the Lakers you are looking at one of the best teams of all time. Watch their head to head matchups, Dirk wins every time.

Pau doesn’t get double-teamed because other teams aren’t that stupid, he’s such a good passer you’d get killed double teaming him, he’d average 10 assists a game, or Kobe would go off more than he already does. And perimeter oriented PF’s normally don’t win titles.

    1. Howard

    2. Gasol (if he plays there for LA)

    3. Noah

    4. Bogut

    5. Horford

    6. Perkins

    7. Bynum

    8. B. Lopez

    9. Marc Gasol

    10. Hibbert

    – I didnt count Yao or Shaq due to playing time, Duncan or Dirk because they are PF in my eyes,           Serge I-Block-A Al Jefferson Camby and Kaman are all quality Centers too.

I agree it would be stupid to double team Gasol with the Lakers, yet with Memphis teams somehow found a way to stop him. Gasol is in one of the best positions possible for a player, hes playing with one of the top 5 perimeter players of all time!!!

Chewy brings up a good point. Kendrick Perkins may not be the most gifted center in the league but he plays his role to near perfection. Good spot for Perkins at number 6.

And what is the deal with everyone hopping on the Hibbert bandwagon this year?

Gasol would be top 2, depends how how you rank based on offense he’s first easily.  Howard is a better shot blocker and defender though.  The best Center he’s faced was Camby and he had a triple double he’s definately a premier Center.  Wow the Lakers look grt, Kobe has an awful game and they still win by 25.

Howards really starting to step up his offensive production, alot of people forget hes only 24. He is averaging 22-ppg in 30-mpg shooting 60%, but the real increase is his 13 shots per game. The Magic are starting to trust him enough to run the offense through him.

I would pick Perkins over Lopez depending on how my team was built. If I needed defense and rebounding for my team, I would pick Perkins over Lopez. Lopez is a liability at the defensive end, and he isn’t an impressive rebounder for his size and his position. If I had good scoring from other positions, no doubt I would take Perkins even though Lopez is more offensively talented. If I needed a #2 or #3 option scorer, and if I had someone who would complement Lopez well, I would choose lopez over Perkins.

I mean it’s obvious that Perkins is better on D, but I think its also pretty clear that Lopez is the better player. I mean Sefolosha plays better D than Kobe or Wade, but I’d still rather have them. Perkins is perfect for the Celtics, but for the average team I’d say Lopez.

@mxhart532  how did teams stop gasol in memphis?..he was putting up nearly 20 and 10 shooting 50% thats considered stopping someone?

Great power forwards that are tall tend to be able to play almost as well at the center position. its not that much different then playing power forward especially when you’re playin gin the triangle

with that said id take dwight howard ahead of him but after that i say paul is the best center. i dont think its a debate anymore about how close chris bosh is to gasol though

Yes I am jumping on the Hibbert bandwagon. I think he is developing nicely and will have a breakout year. I may end up looking stupid at the end of the year too, but hey I took a chance.

I think Kamen is great and had him as an honorable mention, but I love Marc Gasol’s defense, toughness and rebounding.
