What team do you see Pau joining this year if he leaves the Lakers. How much money do you see him taking? What type of role and production will he have?

if he can stay healthy, he is still an all-star caliber big. But these last two seasons, he has been injured. He tried playing through feet pain 2 years ago when dwight was in town and the expectations were high for the team and he really struggled. This past season his play was much improved but he still missed significant time and since there was no reason for him to play through pain since the team had no chance of winning, they played him sparringly. Have no idea how he feels now or if he even wants to be back with lakers. He could potentially get 12-14 mill per from a team on a shorter term deal like 2 years. Still capable of getting like 18 and 10 on average and be one of the best offensive bigs in the game.

I’d like to see him in New Orleans for several reasons. One, the team has a huge hole at center. Two, they could use a veteran with championship experience. Three, he could mentor Anthony Davis.

I’d say he’s worth $10-12 million per season. He’ll be 34 in July, but his skill will allow him to play at a good level for a few more seasons. He’s still one of the better big men in basketball, especially when it comes to offensive skill, passing, etc. He’s also still putting up close to 10 rebounds per game.

that option. Phoenix and NY could be others, depending on the contract he is willing to take. I would like to see him in Phoenix, a place where near retired players found the fountain of youth. He is still a very good offensive player, with great passing abilities. He could be a very nice addition to a young core of players that made a great push for the final playoff spot in a very difficult conference. I don’t know what is going to happen in NY, but maybe Pau wants to reunite with his old coach and teammate and accept to take a paycut. I don’t think it’s a good idea for both NY and Pau, but it could be possible.

Sounds absurd I know, but if Spurs win and Duncan retires he’d be the perfect stop gap PF to hold them over for another 2 years to continue to contend.

Ideally I like the Pelicans idea but can they afford him between Holiday Evans and Gordon all on inflated contracts?

I have to say Phx is the pick. They may prefer Love, but Gasol is a more attainable goal. I think they’ll have the cap space, but they also have young assets, not important to their future, that they can give to the Lakers if needed. Gasol can man the 5 for a few years till Len is ready.

Gasol is more effective at the 5 IMO. He is an incredible post player as dipslayed in the last olympics.

The best fit is the Thunder. A back court of Gasol and Ibaka would be perfect.

I also believe he must play at the 5 as he can no longer guard the speedy player at the 4 spot. Would give OKC a good go to player in the post.

I find it kinda remarkable a comment saying "The best fit is the Thunder. A back court of Gasol and Ibaka would be perfect." can get a +6 rating.  But when I spark a thread that gets 20 some comments, I get negged outlandishly…Haters Gonna Hate.

He has money, he has titles, I will guess that he signs with Memphis so he can play with his brother.

First big off the bench for Memphis, P Gasol would still get a lot of minutes behind M Gasol and Randolph.  I don’t think Randolph would leave as a free agent, player option, but he and Ed Davis potentially could be out if they wanted to.

The Grizzlies, if they wanted to, could move along Koufos as well.  I would keep Koufos if I was them.

So my guess is Pau Gasol to Memphis for MLE money and to be their 6th Man.

If I were him I would probably go play with Dirk in Dallas and sign for less (around 10-12 M each?) so they could go after a top notch wing. Anothony would be nice but even Deng would make them a lot better. Front court with Dirk and Gasol. They took the Defending champions to 7 games. Might be the only team that will be able to say that this year. Calderon and Ellis quietly had really good years.

This would be a very unpopular oppinion, but id like to see him consider the charlote hornets. If he doesnt mind not going to a vet team looking to win another ring but rather a possible up and comming team who may be willing to spend money to acquire talent, i think gasol’s presence next to al jeff would be very tough for opposing teams in the east. Cody zeller could also learn from pau and play back-up to both al jeff and gasol

and as much as i appreciate what mcroberts has done for the team and recognize his contributions, i dont know if he’s able to ellevate his game further as a viable offensive option. Right now, he’s a good facilitator in the post which helps ball movement. However, if kemba or al jeff are having an off night, henderson is not enough to pick up the slack

Thats where gasol would be a great fit. He not only gives the hornets a legit third scoring option, but it also eases the pressure from henderson to be that guy. And if one of the three is slacking, then gerald is more than capable of elevating his scoring from a 4th option to a 3rd option, something he has played this past season.

Go to Memph and he or Z-Bo will be the best backup big in the league. Actually I think that makes them a lot better. You see what they do to a contender like OKC and obviously they’ve made the WCF last year. They’d be really good. They need that and a competent scoring 3 (Rudy)

I’d love to see him on the Thunder, the trick is, they don’t really have the cap room. It only works if the Lakers are willing to sign and trade Gasol at 10-12mil per year and take back Perkins’ expiring. Obviously, if the Lakers are planning on spending big and contending again this year, they won’t take Perkins. BUT, if they are looking toward the future, I think they would be willing to take on the contract (which is, importantly, expiring) for Perry Jones and the 21st or 29th. That’s a deal I would love to see.
