This game was a blowout. Indiana won 126-104.

PACERS:

Danny Granger played very limited minutes, but expect another All-Star year. He looked about the same as last season.

Brandon Rush played good, he does have a very sweet jumper. Someone on here compared him to Glen Rice and that’s relatively accurate, I can agree with that. He cant handle the ball very well at all (the Rush family tradition), and he wont create shots for himself. He is trying to develop into a stopper on D, he can lose focus at times off the ball, but he played good on it. He should be about a 12 or 13 ppg scorer, as he isn’t that talented on offense but he can shoot and score at the rim.

Roy Hibbert looks relatively good. He can score pretty well because of his size and touch. Also rebounded very well, which is something he had to kinda prove he could do better. Still unathletic and robotic, which limits him, but he’s so big that it isn’t a huge limitation. He should be the starter.

TJ Ford was dropping dimes, and not looking for his own shot unless there were no passes, as usual. You probably know this, but he is FAST.

Trpy Murphy is a bad defender still, but he does have a good 1st step when driving in a straight line. He was cash as usual shooting 3’s and rebounding.

Josh McRoberts did his usual, made a great play that made you say “wow”, only to follow it up with a silly play. He does have the same “potential” he always has had though.

Dahntay Jones did his usual, and has improved his jumper from mid-range. Still a 5th option though, unless he’s on the court with Solo Jones.

Earl Watson and AJ Price played solid/unspectacularly. But they did run the offense.

DENVER:

Carmelo played good on offense as usual, but reverted back to his old ways by doing nothing else.

Who keeps letting Johan Petro on the court? Lol, like seriously.

Aron Afflalo shouldn’t start over JR even if they want a defensive stopper on the floor to start. He’s simply not that good at anything.

JR Smith continues to improve his handle, he ran PG alot during this game and made some nice passes when he chose to pass. He can now create his own shots, and get to the rim with little trouble. He just has to continue to improve froom mid-range. He should be a 18-20 ppg scorer.

Chauncey played pretty good and steady. But Anthony Carter needs to go far, far away.

Birdman was Birdman for the most part.

Joey Graham was a bulldog this game, getting to the rim with his strength and finishing good as well. He is an end of the bench guy, but he’s one of the best end of the bench guys in basketball.

Yea, I made a bold prediction forum topic for the NBA season and I pretty much guaranteed 20 ppg, 5 boards and 5 assists and for him to be a reserve for the East.

I don’t know if those numbers will make him an all-star, but if JR starts and plays 35mins or so a night, i think he will easily average 20/5/5. Its pretty ridiculous how easy scoring comes to this guy. As far as just being a scorer goes, he’s one of the 10 best in the league in my opinion.

iguodala9, i know your a big Nick Young guy, you think he could be/will be a JR Smith type for the Wizards if he’s given enough minutes this year. Just wondering what you thought of that comparison?

bradon ruseh isnt comparable to glen rice im sorry thats not really close..everything else was pretty much on point…i dont really expect melo to go all out in preseason or do much because most of the established stars dont..d howard does the same thing in preseason

Yes I do, I think that if Nick Young is given the minutes, he could easily average 18 or 19 ppg right now. But his coach would have to keep him on the floor despite his defensive liabilities. Nick Young could play a JR Smith type role from last season and be extremely effective and put up similar numbers.

Quincey: Yea, I know none of the established, All-Star players were going to go all out but the preseason/training camp actually holds more merit than the SL and other off-season stuff to me. It gives you a good idea of what to expect for the season, and I think Melo was just mainly looking for his shot and nothing else.

And its worth nothing that the Pacers whole team except Granger was playing as if it were a playoff game. Very intense out there.

tru. and im not suprised about the pacers players since they are all (couple exceptions) are hard nose players who go hard. it helps if you have a d.jones or tyler who are journey men and rookies busting there but it makes more established guys have to work hard as well( not superstars because they do what they want)
