festar35ParticipantSo my Pacers are done, but I am optimistic about they future in particular George and Turner. What do you think they need to do this off-season to make improvements?
Biggest thing for me is work with Turner, but that is a given. Make him part of the offense as that 2nd guy to George, give him touches and find him a big-man coach. (Rik Smits anyone?) I think Joe Young should come in as back-up PG also, make it his to lose.
#1: Bring back Ian Mahinmi – He has been spectacular this year and I think along with Turner they make a really nice duo. I am a little scared he will cost too much $$$, but his inside game compliments Turner very nicely.
#2: 3PT Shooting – When G.Hill moved to the 2-spot I think that made Indiana a lot better as they had a consistent outside shooter off the ball, where I think Indiana really needs it is off the bench. S.Hill got hot late, Miles is FAR to inconsistent, Stuckey isn’t an outside shooter. Young could prove to be valuable as a back-up PG.
I think a guy like Eric Gordon would be ideal and may come cheaper than expected due to injury history wanting to prove himself again, off the bench he will not log as many minutes.#3: Replace Solomon Hill – This one hurts, but since Indy declined his option they can only offer around $2.5Mil and I am sure teams will offer better. The guy I like is Terrence Jones, he is young, athletic and can shoot from outside as a bench stretch-4. He can also play some back-up minutes at SF.
A legit Point Guard would be nice, but seeing Monta run the point the team functioned well and George Hill looks good as a 2-guard.

festar35ParticipantAlso credit to the Raptors on getting out of the 1st round, there was some not so fantastic referring decisions but I think ultimately they forced turnovers at key times and I can live with it as Indiana is suppose to be rebuilding and transitioning anyway.

StraightOuttaMyMineParticipantPacers did better than anyone expected!!! P G came back and looks better than ever after hat gruesome injury!!! Remember it was the pacers and pistons that were suppose to miss the playoffs this year, not the Bulls and wizards!!!!!!! So grab that mouse and click the UP Button and Give Me and my Mine Workers Points for being among the few to predict they would!!!!!!!!!!

IndianaBasketballParticipantI wasn’t fortunate enough to have a collegiate career, but I was fortunate enough to have majority of my college education paid for and be allowed to be involved with the sport I loved. I’m still involved with the game through training, clinics, AAU coaching, etc. No regrets here kid! I live, breathe, eat, sleep and sh*t basketball.
And just to let you know… I probably typed and hit backspace 10 times debating whether or not to roast your childish ass. But after going through some of your threads/posts and realizing that you’ve contributed absolutely NOTHING relevant to this site besides your petty back and forths with various users… I decided to let your lil comment slide.

ZachAttackParticipanthahaha chill out… I was joking with you I don’t even believe that sh!t that whoever it was, was talking about. You’re a knowledgable poster and just like I believed back then, if you say you played college ball, you played college ball. I’ll take your word for it. I was just making a… "comparison" I guess to the past. But it does make me feel a little bad that you don’t think I contribute to this site :(…
In all though, I believe you, so there’s no reason to blow off steam like that… We good?

TheGuyParticipantTerrence Jones is a horrible shooter, I like him as a player, but him taking jumpers isn’t what you want.
Get a secondary playmaker on the perimiter next to Paul George. George Hill is better suited off the ball, catching and shooting like you said. Monta Ellis is just medicore, best suited for coming off the bench. I would say Mike Conley, but does Indy have the cap space to go after him? EricGordon is a possiblilty, maybe one of Phoenix’s UK PG’s in Knight or Bledsoe in a trade. Lin will likely be a free agent. he’s a productive player but not really a game changer.

UncledrewParticipantPacers clearly over achieved this year. Myles turner was a great draft selection and Paul George looks better than ever. The main thing this team needs is a true point guard to distribute the ball. Hill is a 2guard best served in spot up situations. Monta went from averaging 26 5 and 5 last year’s first round to 11 3 and 2 I guess you can say he fell off a cliff. At this point hes a good scoring 6th man. Realistically finding away to get someone like Jeff Teague from Atlanta to come in and man the point. Someone who can score and make good decisions but wouldn’t be impossible to pry away. Even then they’d still be a true secondary scorer away from truly contending. PG needs a true 2nd option next to him to get back to the conference finals contention.

UncledrewParticipantJrue holiday could be a nice high risk reward player if they could pry him out of new Orleans which I’m sure they could with his injury history. If he could stay healthy he could run the point make solid decisions, knock down open shots, score when needed and change the Pacers dynamics defensively. He could guard opposing reams best perimeter threat and ease the burden of Paul George on that side of the ball.

Pistol Pete. The PelicanParticipantSomeone on twitter said the Pacers need to bring Mike Conley home to Indianapolis and bring Lance Stephenson back to the Pacers. I actually like that. Lance knows the system, and judging from twitter, a lot of Pacer fans miss him, he’s a secondary ball handler, he brings attitude, and he can defend. I actually haven’t like Monta in Indy all year. Mike Conley brings amazing defense, shooting, and most importantly consistency, something George Hill has often lacked.
I would like to see Joe Young and Myles Turner get more focus, and more opportunity.
I’d take a chance on someone like Ryan Anderson at the 4, but they probably won’t have money, so someone like Mirza Teletovic, Donatas Motiejunas, or a flyer on Dwight Powell, I think Powell can really grow with playing time. He can be a floor spacer, and when I use that term I don’t mean in the sense of shooting, but I mean as a playmaker. He can do a little bit of everything and he’s young and athletic.
A lineup of Conley, Lance, PG13, Powell, and Turner, is young, it can grow, and they would be long and athletic.
The most important thing though is to bring back Frank Vogel, his contract is up.

OaktownWarriorsParticipantI was thinking the same thing….their off season? Not knowing their rosterr contact details. Keep on working on Turner and Young. Being a life long Dubs fan, I know plenty about Monta. I like Monta, but he would fit a team better coming off the bench. And via FA, pick up a true PG. At times, there was no direction on the court. And draft a swing player.

festar35ParticipantI would love Conley or to be able to trade for Teague, but they may cost Indiana too much. Especially Conley, they probably couldn’t afford both him and Mahinmi.
A cheaper and more achievable option and one I personally would like is looking at getting Darren Collison back in a Pacers uniform. I thought he was fantastic whilst he was there and I think he is a more than capable starter next to George Hill.
The wildcard for me would be Rondo who granted didn’t bring a lot of W’s to Sac-Town but he did average 12 assists a game and could run an awesome pick ‘n’ roll/pop game with Turner and get easy looks for George and Hill.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI’d avoid rondo. Yes, he can still fill up a box score but he puts up mostly empty stats that don’t translate to team success. His defense has slipped dramatically since his acl injury and his lack of shooting creates spacing problems when he doesnt have the ball. Plus, he is a difficult personality to work with and a guy that will want total control of the offense. Not worth the headache imo.

ExumInfernoParticipantThey can sign a big free agent, and then bring back Mahinmi on a much bigger deal.
J Hill, S Hill, Lawson, they would be gone.
They are a versatile team, so sign whatever big free agent wants to join.
GM Bird should go for it now, the healthy prime of George so get the best help they can.
If it is Conley, then G Hill or M Ellis as 6th man makes them strong.
Bird should spend, R Anderson, Batum, Noah, the Pacers are not expected to get the biggest signing but others can help.
For the draft pick, I think a tall shotblocker makes sense.
Bird is very smart and can evaluate talent, I look forward to his offseason moves.
