Do the Pacers have enough to attract both Tony Parker and Carmelo Anthony in 2011? All-Star in Granger, young big man in Hibbert, and the money from the expiring contracts of T.J. Ford, Troy Murphy, Jeff Foster, Mike Dunleavy and what’s remaining of Jamaal Tinsley’s contract. It’s a basketball state and Conseco Fieldhouse is one of the best basketball arenas in the country.

u bring up good points but here is my argument against that, with carmelo he plays the same position as granger so i dont think that would work and while indiana is basketball state, it is still indiana and i dont see them attracting big free agents. they would have to trade for these players as they would most likely not sign in indiana.

Yea I thought about Granger and Melo playing the same position but from the draft Bird showed that it doesn’t really bother him. I think if the Pacers went small they could have a mismatch every night. Paul George, Granger and Melo could all interchangeably play three positions. I think the problem with Indiana is that its boring so its hard to attract free agents…but with that said I think if the money’s there and Indy somehow convinces Parker to sign Melo would be more inclined to join as well.

It’d be a tough sell. Indianapolis is a nice city that’s adding more, but it’s still a small market.

I would aim lower. If Melo leaves Denver, it will probably be for a major market (Knicks, Nets, Clippers, or Wizards). If Parker leaves, I have a hard time believing the wife wouldn’t want it to be for a big city as well. Now, Indy natives Mike Conley and Greg Oden, on the other, hand would be interesting. The new GM in Portland won’t be as connected to Oden as Pritchard, and might not want to make a long-term investment in him. Conley might struggle to get the QO from Memphis next year after maxing out Rudy. He still might get some money, but nothing close to the $6.5 million QO. Just throwing it out there.

No, i see them being like the t-wolves & wizards this year, but cap room is good to have & even is you cant get a top FA you can trade cap room for good player i.e the hinrich trade & also there will be very good players on the trading block like how there is every year & that will put them in the position to get the best players & team they can get so i dont see Melo, parker, or yaq but they probley will be alot better in 2011-12 then they probley will be in 2011
