    Pacers-Bobcats deal falls through
    February, 18, 2010

    By Chad Ford

The Indiana Pacers were in talks to send T.J. Ford and Brandon Rush to the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for D.J. Augustin, Gerald Henderson and Nazr Mohammed, a source close to the talks told ESPN.com. However, those talks fell apart in the hour before the trade deadline, sources told ESPN.com.

The Bobcats, who are making a strong push for the playoffs, felt like Ford would be an upgrade in their backcourt. Ford, who has fallen out of the starting lineup in Indiana, also would’ve provided insurance for the Bobcats with starting point guard, Raymond Felton, being an unrestricted free agent this summer.

It’s unclear why the deal fell apart.

I would’ve welcomed this deal! I’m upset it didn’t happen. I wonder why it fell through.

Not sure why this didn’t happen. Ford is better at making plays for others than Felton. The Cats probably didn’t want to give up Augustin AND Henderson.

He is definitely not as good as creating plays for others as Felton. This year he has averaged 3.6 assists per game averaging 25 minutes per game in an up tempo offense surrounded by shooters. Felton averages 5.1 assists per game averaging 31 minutes per game in a slow paced offense that scores much fewer points and accumulates fewer assists than Indiana. Ford is overrated. He has had a dreadful year. He can’t shoot or create for others.
