Are these players Overrated or Underrated or Neither?

Andre Drummond – Neither, Is he the next Dwight Howard? Maybe Amare? Well he might not ever be that good, but at worst this guy is a really good Deandre Jordan.  As long as he doesn’t stop working on his post game, i see him being one of the top centers in the league in the next 5-6yrs

Jeremy Lamb – Overrated, the comparison’s people give this guy are ridiculous. Ex’s Ray Allen, Rip Hamilton, TMac…its crazzy.  The guy excelled at those USA games, but i still dont think he’s 6th pick in the draft worry.  Maybe he will prove me wrong

Jared Sullinger – Overrated, eh, not a fan of his game.  he wont be able to push around people in the nba like he does in college.  i hope he shows more next yr

James McAdoo – Overrated, No nba team is going to make the " Marvin Williams" mistake again nbadraft.net’s 2012 Mock Draft. he’s good, but not #2 pick worthy with that UNC depth

Myck Kabongo – Neither, i think his game is a cross between Rajon Rondo’s IQ and Jason Williams’ razzle dazzle.

Brad Beal – Underrated, fierce competitior

Austin Rivers – Neither, is a bit hated on from fellow forum members for his attitude, but i like him

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist – Underrated, lock down defender with offensive potential. Simillar to Andre Igulodala

Doron Lamb – Underrated, kid from the bronx that will stand out in a star studded Kentucky team

Maalik Wayns – Neither, a lot of u will say overrated, but i believe he’s a better version of kyle lowry.  Others say he is a strong pg, with no range and can’t lead a team.  I hope he proves his critics wrong

Mason Plumlee – Overrated, i dont see him developing a post game with that frame

Yancy Gates – Underrated, post player with tremendous strength and skill.

Ashton Gibbs- Neither, Knock down shooter who should be an eddie house type player in the NBA someday

Tony Wroten- Underrated, I LOVE THIS GUY, no homo. can’t wait to see him play

Joshua Smith – Overrated, Good hands, good post moves, horrible conditioning

I do like him but Austin Rivers is so overated.  Listening to some people talk about him I would forgive them for thinking he is the 2nd coming of Jesus.

Agree with frogman, Ive always said i would take Beal over Rivers. I just dont think Rivers will be a winner, i see him as a Monta Ellis type scorer but doesnt really bring anything else to the table. I think Lamb will be terrific, he will never be a franchise player but u think he will be a really good #2 option. Drummond is just way 2 talented 4 me 2 believe everything will not fall in2 place with him. I think as the level of competition rises so will his competitive nature and will to compete at a high level consistently. Love Kabongo’s game and im still telling guys this kid is a consistent jumpshot away from being a star!!!

From what I have seen I like Kabongo.

Depending on where Jared Sullinger goes in the draft he could be underrated.  Good size and strength with a prototype power forward game.  If he goes outside the top five then I think he could be slightly underrated and could be one of the best players in the draft.  If he keeps the weight off and improves his conditioning and strength then he could be a very good power forward in the NBA.  I don’t think he is a guy with number one pick no-brainer potential but at 5 or 6 he should be a great value.

    1. Jeremy Lamb has been the most overrated player since the tournament run although he is very good.

    2. I cant get used to Michael Kidd-Gilchrist name change.

    3. No one talks about Tony Wroten as much as they should.

Tony Wroten is probably the most underrated least talked about prospect there is. I hurd he’s 6’6 now and his vision, speed, skills, and overall athleticism is an elite package. If Lorenzo Romar can teach him to cut down on his turnovers and really run a team i dont see y he can’t be the first PG taken. His ceiling imo has got 2 be higher then Teagues. His size an athleticism for the position is so intriguing.

I don’t understand how Tony Wroten is underrated. He’s been talked about ALOT since he was a Soph. in HS basically, and he gets talked about alot on this site. He slipped in recruiting as a Jr. because he messed up his knee, but Tony Wroten is not underrated or slept on. He is a highly discussed and hyped prospect I think.

I’d say Wroten is considered underrated because of the fact that he dropped down people’s lists due to the knee injury. Just as soon as the season starts though, his stock will as well.

Drummond like someone else said, is just too athletic/big/skilled to not eventually have things fall into place. I remember hearing in Kevin Durant’s senior year how he lacked heart and desire, yet came out and proved critics wrong. Sometimes it just takes better competition to bring the best of you.

Jeremy Lamb is overrated just because people act like he’s going to become som kind of star when in reality he’ll become a very useful scorer/defender but have issues creating consistenly at the NBA level. Could end up somewhat similar to an Eddie Jones or Rip Hamilton though.

Gichrist as much I like the dude, have to think he’s slightly overrated. His ballhandling skills are beow average for a guy who some expect a point forward out of. He’s not quite Iguodala like some would lead you to believe as his hande just isn’t at that level and probably never will be. I could see more Josh Childress out of t=him though. Similar to his days as a Hawk. Perhaps a better SLIGHTLY better passer.

"I’d say Wroten is considered underrated because of the fact that he dropped down people’s lists due to the knee injury."

That would mean he was hurt, not underrated.

Yeah, but now people are acting as if his knee injury hasn’t healed yet and are still having him lower than he should be. The guy is a top 5 player in this draft yet he’s still being ranked low. Scouts are staritng to come back around though since they’ve been getting to see him since full recovery and his growth spurt.

Andre Drummond – Slightly Overrated. He tends to be passive at times on court.Yet when he feels it he is dominant.

Jeremy Lamb – Underrated. He is a good defender.great motion stroke.good size for SG at next level.Could be a really good role player in NBA.

Jared Sullinger – Neither.Best post game in college bastball.Very good rebounder.Good Leadership skills.Improved his body and conditioning.Front runner with Harrison Barnes for NPOY.

James McAdoo – Underrated.Doesn’t get credit he deserves for all rounded skill set.He has a great baketball mind/IQ.Low Risk/Low reward prospect.MVP at both McDonalds and Jordan brand classic.

Myck Kabongo – Neither .He is very Quick and is an Excellent passer.he can operate in both half court and full court settings.True PG which is is good contrast to athletic PG of today.

Brad Beal -Underated.His Jumpshot is as pure as water. However he is small for SG,but is an Young Ray Allen.

Austin Rivers – Overrated. He has great talent as he can score anywhere he wants. However the hype he generates becausehe is Doc Rivers son is to much. His attitude needs to improve as he sobs when things dont go his way.

Michael Gilchrist – Underrated. He brings great defense, in NBA he is gonna be a player who guards the oppositions best players. He is also a crazy athletic beast. His jumpshot is whack though yet he is gonna get the correct form in due time.

Definitely agree about Mason Plumlee. Has the look of a bust in the NBA. Just an athlete inside. Can’t believe Coach K compared him to Christian Laetner at one point.

Also see what you mean about Wroten. At one point was considered a top 3 player in the class but fell to being a four star after coming back from the injury. He’s climbed back up some but I believe he’s better than Marquis Teague.

It’s only natural for jeremy Lamb to get that kinda love. Winning will do that for you. This will be the year to really evaluate how he stacks up to the greats since it’ll be his team and he’ll be coming in with a target on his back.
