Jr. ROXASParticipantMan another juggernaut goes down! Oregon just upset Kansas (somewhat), whom a lot of people had going to the finals 74-60. Not as big an upset as Xavier vs Zona but an upset in my books nontheless. Here are my thoughts on the game:
I haven’t watched a lot of Oregon ball all season, but from what I saw, Dana Altman might just run the worse offense I’ve seen in the tournament. There is no action whatsoever off the ball. Everyone is stuck ball-watching either Brooks or Dorsey isolate. It was painful to watch especially after watching Xavier 2 days ago take down Arizona with their precision offense.
In saying that, you got to give credit to these Oregon players. Dorsey and Bell just bailed Altman the f*ck out. Bell has that Serge Ibaka timing on blocks. Dorsey meanwhile is a gamer. He hit tough shot after tough shot. These 2 guys are without a doubt NBA players, along with Dillon Brooks.
Josh Jackson was slowed down by foul troubles early, and that messes up his ryhtm. I still came away impresses however as I always am with him with his rebounding, defense and especially his ball-handling. Call it over-hyping but you don’t just see 6’8 dudes with that crisp of a ball-handling ability.
What are you guys’ thoughts?

D7H7NParticipantOregon played not to lose at the end and they could’ve easily blown the lead if Kansas could knock down their 3s.

SubZeroParticipantDillon Brooks is super annoying. I don’t know why he got so mad near the end after 4 straight possessions where he held the ball for 10 seconds until there were 2 seconds on the shot clock and just tossed up some garbage at the rim. Granted, I’ve seen him hit a bunch of tough shots, but he takes almost exclusively contested shots everytime I’ve watched him; him bein super emotional and his flop against Utah (worst flop in the history of flops, not an exaggeration) make him basically the West coast Grayson Allen
Tyler Dorsey has hit so many contested hand in his face 3s in the tournament at the end of games, without 1 or 2 of them they would’ve lost to Michigan. Jordan Bell showed tonight that he’ll be a player at the next level, 8 blocks against who many people thought the best team in the country is just insane
Nothing to really say about Kansas but they couldn’t hit a shot. Even if I didn’t pick Kentucky every year to win I still wouldn’t have picked Kansas because it seems like every year they have a giant dud of a game and go home early. Mason did his thing until the last parts of the game and Jackson came alive for a little bit in the 2nd half and had 12 rebounds and 5 assists but no one else really showed up. Devonte Graham had 3 points on 0-7 shooting and 0-6 on 3s, airballed a 4 foot floater, and got roasted by Dorsey.
Honestly Oregon would’ve won by 20 if they didn’t go completely flaccid in the last 6 or 7 minutes. That offense was garbage and they were lucky that Kansas was just missing shots because they did get a good bit of open looks, although their defense contributed a little bit to that.
If Kentucky gets past UNC tomorrow I think this will be a very interesting matchup. Both teams play 6′ 3″-6′ 5″ guards and an athletic active big man. I’d much rather play Oregon than Kansas though so I’m happy with the results tonight

ChewyParticipant1. Bill Self’s teams choke in the tournament just as much as they dominate the B12. I love my Jayhawks, but I’m also a realist.
2. I’ve seen KU go with almost scoreless stretches for 8-10 minutes against bad teams, so I’m not surprised their offense stalled for almost a full game against a top level team.
3. To beat KU this year you need to be lights out from 3 (ISU was like 58% from 3 in their win). Props to O for making many many contested shots.
4. I’ll miss Frank but at the same time I’m excited to see Malik Newman next year!

ChewyParticipantas great as I think the trio of Frank/Devante/Josh were defensively, I still think UK is more athletic/longer and that could be the difference in stopping Oregon’s shooting (IF that Final 4 matchup happens)

SubZeroParticipantIt’s just crazy to me how they looked unbeatable against Purdue, then came out and played like they did last night. You could just chalk it up to Oregon made shots and KU didn’t
Honestly if I was a Kansas fan, I wouldn’t trust Devonte Graham. He’s always seemed like the kind of player that you love when he’s on but hate when he’s off, because he was very off last night and he really wasn’t good for anything
