McDunkinOregon State’s Roberto Nelson came to Corvallis as the most highly-rated recruit to enter the Beaver program in years. After two-thirds of a freshman season in 2010-11 where he averaged 8/2 APG in about 17 minutes per contest, big things are expected for the talented Southern California native. During a recent summer foreign tour called “Beavers Without Borders” in Macedonia, as the below video shows, Nelson destroyed a glass backboard with a dunk in a game that seemed more pick-up than organized (start at the 2:00 mark). The ensuing spill Nelson took as a result of his force was no joke, as he celebrated his powerful jam in the aftermath with a bloodied and broken nose. This isn’t the Jordan Crawford/LeBron dunk from a couple of summers ago, but expect to see this one shown on numerous Pac-12 broadcasts next season.
Nelson recalls what happened.
“I don’t know how the freaking rim broke. “It broke on the way up. I barely touched it and the whole thing just popped. I don’t know, maybe I’m strong. Maybe I can say I’m strong because I broke a rim. Not a Fisher Price one. It’s just crazy, man.”
McDunkins note: Never name a program "Beavers Without Borders" and not expect people not to laugh.
P.S. thats what Rudeboy calls strip clubs whenever he is in the building

mikeyvthedonParticipantThought he would be tearing things up in Corvallis. The dude he is hanging out with, Joe Burton, is built like an OT, he is 6’7/280. Now, I generally root against the Beavs heavily, they are our arch rivals after all (though some dislike UW more, but my Grandmother went there, so I say Beavers are the ones I cheer against hardest), but I would not totally sleep on them next year. I still think Craig Robinson is a good coach, he is Michelle Obama’s brother.
They have been steady going down since they won the CBI in his first year, but I would give him a lot of head room to turn things around. Either way, I am sure he will have his guys ready to play, and I think that Roberto may indeed have a big increase in production during his sophomore year. They also bring back leading scorer Jared Cunningham and speedy small guard Ahmad Starks. Throw in big bodies in Joe Burton, Devon Collier and Aussie big man Angus Brandt, I expect them to be improved this next year.
They also bring in Daniel Gomis, a Senegal native who spent this past year playing PF/C for Oak Hill. One great unknown is Challe Barton, a 6’3 Swedish PG, who apparently comes from a great basketball pedigree in that his dad was a player and coach. Barton apparently played for Sweden’s U-18 team, and apparently will challenge for minutes. Either way, the Beavers may not be great, but I expect them to compete and win some games in the Pac-12, they should not be slept on.
