David Sterns main argument in introducing the one and done rule was that he was trryna save the players who didn’t make it. In actuality the one and done rule was for gms to save themselves because every year they reach for some prospect who dominates high school comp and looks like an nba player only to come to the league and wash out. The same players who were coming out of high school when they shouldn’t are coming out after one year of college. If the nba draft wasw done over this year how many scouts would have jumped on harrison barnes banwagon after his showing in the all star games he probably goes number two and the franchise that selects him waits four years for him to pan out because he’s not even ready for college. The reason the one and done rule works is because gms finallyy get to see these players against real comp and tend to back off the hype after subpar seasons. Know they make better selections on platers and find out who is more ready to make an impact and these roll the dice picks don’t seem to go top five anymore but more in the late lotto and twenties.
