JoeWolf1Ok, I’ve been challenging people to tell me why Art Parahouski is understood to be an early 2nd round pick on here while Omar Samhan is too slow and unathletic to be considered a 2nd rounder. I’ve seen them both play and Art Parahouski is not any faster or more athletic and Omar runs the floor better and has more energy than Parahouski. I know Parahouski got his stock up by playing big games against Kansas and Duke, but Omar put up comparable numbers all season in a better conference on a better team and after big games against top 25 opponents in Richmond, Gonzaga and Vandy is currently putting up big numbers against former top 3 team Nova. I’m not saying the dude is going to be a star or even more than a role player, but WHY IS OMAR TOO SLOW AND UNATHLETIC AND ART PARAHOUSKI IS A TOP 40 PICK!!
Please somone give me some feed back, Aran, Adi, you guys too, I just don’t see how Parahouski is so much better and how his game is more suited for the NBA.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantArtsiom can step out and shoot 3’s and he spreads the floor… Omar Samhan is 260lbs of fat while Art Parahouski was born with that body.. Omar Samhan has no potential while Art has decent potential.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantSamhan’s game is more… I’m going to punish you and push you out of my way because my body is heavier… That game doesn’t work in the league.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantSamhan is going to be an interesting guy to watch in Portsmouth. He will never be much of an athlete, but he could be better if he loses some weight. If he was to join an NBA club next year, I don’t think he would stick for long. Everything he does is just too slow for him to be anything more than a 3rd unit center at this point. He can get better over another few years by playing against better, quicker competition and working to adjust his game.
Both Parakhouski and Samhan would be interesting candidates to take with a second round pick and stash abroad for a couple years. Parakhouski has the passport from Belarus, and it probably would not be a stretch for Samhan to get one from Egypt where I think his father is from. Both would have a better chance of catching on with more elite European teams because they would not count against a team’s American limit.

JoeWolf1Thanks for the feedback, guys, Samhan is very slow I see that as his primary weakness, not his bulk which he uses very well around the rim, but he is a smart player and one who has improved a lot over his years at St. Mary’s. I wouldn’t take him in the early 2nd, but I think he would be a solid pick in the late 2nd. Because like what BTPH said he could go and develop in Europe or the D-League. I like Parahouski’s game too, but I think top 40 is too high for him too. He does have a more chisled physique, but he is also slow, but his outside shooting does give him value. Omar Samhan kind of reminds me a little of JP Batista who is putting up good numbers in Europe right now. But again, thanks for the feedback, its easy to make an initial observation but seeing other sides of the arguement helps put things more in perspective.

tli232I’ve only watched Samhan in highlights and his lone Tourney Game. But… from what I’ve seen, he looks to be another Rafael Araujo.
Yes, you can gasp. That’s not bad if Samhan is drafted in the mid to late 2nd round. a Big body with nice touch around the rim.
