Ok so I have been analyzing all of the Thunder games, because as probably most of you know I am a big Sonics fan, and I just see them as the Sonics that relocated. Anyway, I have noticed that Shaun Livingston hasn’t gotten any pt, and yet Kevin Ollie has. I expected Kevin to be more of a mentor guy and not play that much, and it ends up that he is the 2nd string pg. I don’t get it. In my opinion, I would much rather play Livingston than Ollie because of him being a really big pg and overseeing the floor as well as causing matchup problems.. What do you guys think?

Yeah, I don’t really get it either. This kind of goes against their whole long term plan of making a sustainable young core…Ollie signed a one year deal with them, so I don’t really understand it.

I think because Livingston just came back from injury and hasn’t been productive in my opinion but Ollie was an okay player but didn’t have the #s.

I forgot to add it might come down to contracts in my opinion OR maybe let Livingston recover and watch what Ollie does on the court.

I think Ollie is the type of guy who isn’t going to put up good numbers, but isn’t mistake prone when he is on the court and plays good defense. In his time this season he has only comitted 1 turnover in 43 minutes of play. I’m sure Livingston will get more time later in the season, but early on I think it is safer to play Ollie. Livingston hasn’t played much in the past 2 seasons, but I’m sure with more time practice, recovery time, and gaining some confidence he’ll probably see more time. Livingston may create more match up problems, but i’m sure he would be playing right now he’d be a little rusty and probably turn the ball over more, and shoot a worse percentage than Ollie.

i think thats exactly the reason joe..that happens alot where the more talented player may get less minutes then the less talented because the less talented guy doesnt hurt you as much when hes out there..hes not spectacular but he gets the job done and makes very few mistakes and alot of times one or 2 mistakes or turnovers can cost you the game

It has to do with developing Russell Westbrook. The whole reason Ollie was brought in was to help develop Westbrook as an elite PG for the future. Ollie has a track record of developing PG’s from Lou Williams, to Luke Ridnour (when he was an Olympian back in the day, to even Mo Williams. Even though he’s one of the worst players in the NBA today 9in terms of actual talent) he is a good person to help young PG’s develop as is Lindsey Hunter. I also think that Livingston has barely looked like an NBA player so far since he’s returned from the injury. He’s still got the size and stuff, but he’s not explosive anymore and he’s still one of the weaker players in the NBA. So yes, I’d take Ollie right now even though Livingston is a far more talented and physically gifted player.
