XYRYXParticipantI have to say I’m absolutely stunned how the whole Thunder team again stepped it up from the Spurs series to absolutely school the Warriors. The Thunder won 2 games in SA in the 2nd round, even if the Spurs only lost 1 game there (to the Warriors) the whole season. In this series, the Thunder won back to back games against the Warriors, again something the Dubs haven’t experienced all year. It took half the season for them to lose 4 games and now they already lost back to back games and are one loss shy of elimination. Let’s assume Curry is fine with his knee and his elbow, which Kerr just stated, it’s time to give the Thunder credit here.
Russ is hands down the best point guard or maybe even the best player in the playoffs and in game three there was even e sequence where Steph asked for the switch on defense that he has not to guard Russ for obvious reasons. Dreymond Green really fell flat on the face the last two games having only 6 pts and 2 assists in the game 4 loss. Bogut is banged up and was the only play in the plus collumn in game 4. Every Thunder starter had at least 11 points and 7 rebounds the last game and the fact that Robes is having the best offensive output of his career so far speaks for itself against a horrible defensive Warriors team right now.
The often mentioned death lineup with Steph, Klay, Iggy, Barnes and Green is not working at all right now. They commit turnovers like OKC always does, gets outrebounded like crazy even if the Thunder not really played much of their ‘bigs’ last night.
What is shocking me most is that the Warriors have been a phenomenal defensive team this year even if their shot isn’t falling but they have been beaten badly the last two games to start the game where the Thunder scored 72 points in both first halves. That’s insane. I haven’t seen the game yet, since I live in europe and have to wait until next day but man when Robes is going off for 17 (despite shooting 2-8 from the FT line) there is something wrong with your defense.
Overall the Thunder looked hungrier the whole series, played better defense, rebounded better and to my surprise took care of the ball.
There can’t be made many excuses why the Warriors are beeing blown out so badly. They are relatively healthy and for some reason their best player (Klay) only played 29 minutes.
If there can’t be made many excuses for the Warriors, there needs to be more praise for the Thunder imo. They already beat the Spurs (again twice on the road) which many believed would be the toughest matchup for the Warriors and now they are absolutely dismantling the Warriors offensively. Kanter played just 8 mins and Adams just 24 so basically thats’s the lineup the Warriors should prefer but beeing outrebounded and beaten so badly speaks for the greatness of the Thunder right now.
I can’t see KD leaving this team at all after what I’ve seen so far. They clearly grew in this years playoffs and Russ is arguebly the best player in the playoffs. Adams the heart and sould and somehow Robes not afraid to shoot the ball anymore.
I really hope there won’t be any overly physical or stupid actions in game 5 since I could see guys like Bogut or Green lose their control when or if things are not going their way and I want this series to be played with everyone involved and especially the finals with a healthy Thunder lineup, if they really manage to get there.
But let’s take a minute to embrace the greatness of KD and especially Russ who never changed the way he plays but grew into one of the best players he potentially could be. As great as the whole 73 win season was for the Dubs, this Thunder team is topping them in almost every way possible right now and this has not much to do with injuries but just with passion, trust and a lot of will, which many questioned this year after all this 4th quarter letdowns.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantOKC is just a nightmare matchup for golden state. They can’t get stops against them defensively and can’t get rebounds when they do. Their overall length and athleticism is just overwhelming the warriors. In order for golden state to win, they basically have to rely on curry or Thompson (or both) to have huge games and just basically outscore them. Thompson has played well for the most part but Curry is clearly not himself right now though and green is in a funk as well. If those two don’t seriously step up, golden state has absolutely no chance. Their chances are already pretty small as it is.
Golden state was not a great defensive team this year and their defense particularly slipped in the second half of the year. They were good enough offensively to keep winning at a historic pace and could always rely on curry to bail them out. However, their defensive shortcomings are coming back to haunt them now. The thunder are picking them apart.

vulture711ParticipantIt wasn’t long ago I heard you don’t need bigs, its small ball and a shooters game. Westbrook can exploit Curry on D and they have a lot of big, strong interior players.
76ers take note before you ship Okafor off – who on the Warriors would check him with Embiid at center ?

CynthiaParticipantI remember when a legend said this about the Warriors "regular season don’t win championships". That legend was Scottie Pippen, and he got blasted for it; he was called a hater, jealous, etc.
His teammate Ron Harper had this historic quote about his own Bulls team "72 and 10 don’t mean a thing without the ring". The only difference is the Bulls backed it up, and won their championship, it’s starting to look like that won’t be the case for the Warriors.
The Warriors broke a lot of records this season, there’s no denying that. But if they don’t end up winning the championship then those records will have a much bleaker look to them.
I think we can now put the debate to rest, the ’96 Bulls are still the best team of all time.

220ParticipantThe light finally went on for the Thunder. They’re sharing the ball splendidly on offense and they are playing hard on defense all game long. The mental mistakes that cost them in the 4th quarter all year long are gone. The Thunder have always had the pieces and the depth, but they just haven’t been able to put it together. If the Thunder keep playing like they are then they will win the championship this year.

chrispaulwallParticipantyeah i’m really shocked by this. really just comes down to the warrior’s not playing the defense they have been over the past year and a half (they were awful post ASB, and playing against two top five talents doesn’t help) and, conversely, the thunder just playing amazing all around basketball.
On top of the fact draymond steph and klay just aren’t stepping up to the task at hand right now. they’ve been complete garbage.
i’m not putting it past this team to win 3 straight though. not counting them out till OKC wins 4

I.C.Y.U.NV.MEParticipantFor years I’ve been telling my friends that I’d take Russ over any pg in the league, Steph included. Of course they hit me with the typical criticisms: not a true pg, ball hog, out of control, gets in KD’s way..ya know, the usual. But what people fail to realize is that more times than not, Russ wins his positional match up. Idc who’s on the other team, he has the mismatch. GS is a really bad match up as Curry wants NO parts of him. They need to go back to hiding him on D by guarding Roberson, even tho he’s playing really solid as of late.

OhCanada-ParticipantI really don’t see OKC winning another game in Oakland. Game 5 will likely go to Golden State. Game 6 in Oklaholma will win the series so that IMO will be the pivotal game. I see no way the Thunder walk into Golden State for a game 7 and cone out with a win. 3-1 looks bad and so do the blowouts, we can over analyze it or just realize that the Thunder won a game in Golden State now GSW has to win their home games and steal one in OKC.
