EndlessknightParticipantAnyone care to speculate on Okafor’s trade value. He’s an amazing player but just don’t see him and Noel coexisting, not to mention Embiid. Any change the Sixers could land the Net’s pick from Boston?

joe2324Participantthis all depends on Embiid. If Embiid is healthy and ready to go, you absolutely start Embiid. You look to move Okafor for a strong Veteran, something the sixers are lacking. I don’t like Noel at power forward so I would look to move him as well. Same thing, strong Veteran to come in. Hopefully, you get to draft Simmons and hope the laker pick is there as well and pick up a point guard or shooting guard. I think pairing Embiid with Simmons, hopefully grab a point guard with the laker pick, saric and u may have a decent team.

circumlocution75Participant& that Porzingus would have been a better fit…. but that’s only when you are looking at the puzzle as is….. We have to put in context that Okafor is averaging just about 20 & 10 on only 15 shots a game on the Worst team we’ve seen in a decade where there are No other scorers & the entire 5 opposition players are sagging in on him…..
In other words, this kid has rare size & skill and Phila should be in NO rush to trade ANYONE….. they have an ISH ton of very high 1st round picks over the next few years….. Lebron’s Cav’s will control the East for the next 3 – 5 years…. Phila should just play the hand that Hinkie built…… Draft all those 1st round picks….. Let them all play together….. & in 2 or 3 years as these guys begin to bloom in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th years….. & then begin to make some moves…..
Right now, the Sixers would NEVER get proper value for Okafor, Noel or Embiid if they decided to trade any of them…… Even if they do Not get the Lakers pick this June, the Sixers will have Three 1st round picks (their own, Miami & OKC) plus Joel Embiid & Dario Saric will be joing the team…… & for anyone who thinks the OKC & Miami picks lack value b/c they will be late 1st round picks….. I would remind you that Jimmy Butler & Draymon Green were selected w/ picks #30 & 32 respectively……
So, if all of those players show up next fall – that is FIVE 1st round picks being added to the roster next fall – 3 of them Lottery picks & if the Lakers pick does transfer it would be Six……. The Sixers should just give these kids time – let them all play together & see what they have…..

CobraParticipant"Right now, the Sixers would NEVER get proper value for Okafor, Noel or Embiid…"
I don’t think they would ever get fair value, each of their values will be dampened due to lower minutes because of the log jam and chemistry problems. Tough situation Hinkie put himself (and/or Coangelo) in.

properbreaksParticipantWhy would you trade the only player on YOUR ENTIRE roster who has proved that he can actually score on a consistent basis in the NBA? He’s averaging 18 points in his rookie season. That’s not just good, but great scoring for a rookie. He’s the only guy on the whole team who can score and hasn’t even finished his rookie season yet. Trading him for yet another draft pick shouldn’t even be possible unless it was Ben Simmons already picked and giftwrapped. I saw where you said he doesn’t fit well with Noel. So are you saying you’d rather keep Noel than Okafur?????

CobraParticipantSomebody has to score the points. Belive it or not Noel has a greater impact on the team when he’s at center than Okafor has. Reason being is that the defense is so bad with Okafor.

circumlocution75Participant" kind has clearly NOT watch Any Sixers games…. Often Okafor scores Most of his points in the biginning of the game when the game is still being contested…..
Last night was a great example….. Okafor scored 25 points in Phila’s blow out of Portland….. Okafor Destroyed Portland’s front line for 17 first quarter points…. & the game was all but over by half time…. Okafor took Only 16 shots in the entire game…..
The Sixers could have Easily left Okafor in the game & against Portland’s back-ups he probably could have score 40+ points on 30 shots but that’s just Not what they do w/ him…..
It’s usually Phila being blown out but Okafor almost Never plays in garbage time….. His points are Very well earned & he is scoring them in an environment where the opposition has NO fear of Anyone else on the Sixers… He is Double teamed on Every play & often All 5 opposing players sag in on him….. Before the Ish Smith trade, Okafor Often had to go All the way out to the 3 point line just to get the ball… In addition, b/c he is a rookie he gets Almost No calls from the refs….
I don’t get why people dislike this kid…. I believe it’s b/c everyone just hates what the Sixers are doing but I seriously doubt he approves of it or even wants to be there….. Okafor has an incredible combination of low body strength, an array of moves & incredible touch around the Rim…. that is Very rare…. & while I do like Noel very much, there is No way, I would take a 10 ppg center who is excellent on defense over a kid that will eventually be Boogie Cousins except w/o the bad attitude but w/ More post moves….. (apologies for the long post)….

properbreaksParticipantYeah, it’s a lot of people who are going overboard with this “defensive value” stuff. It’s getting worst and worst, where I’m starting to hear on this site guys saying players who are getting 20 points a night are worst then some brilliant perimeter defensive stopper who average 8 points. (lol) It’s no way that I’d rather have Noel than Okafur.

thetruth87ParticipantPeople probably dislike him because he has the lowest real plus minus (RPM) in the entire NBA. The 76ers are outscored by an outrageous 19.2 points per 100 possessions with him on the floor. Without him on the floor they are only outscored by a pretty respectable 2.5 points per 100 possessions. And he doesn’t have a bad attitude? The guys been in two brawls already in his rookie year! But yeah he’s got a great attitude……

LaFlamaBlancaParticipantI have been saying for a while now and got negged hard for saying Okafor has a lot more DMC to his game then he does Big Al. Give Big Jah a stretch four that can decently protect the rim and look to move Noel, Embiid and Saric. Philly needs guards who can get to the rack and some that can at least make defenders respect their jumper. Okafor will be a force to reckon with once he actually has a team around him.

HitsterParticipantOf the three bigs they have drafted during the "Reign of Hinkie", Okafor has perhaps contributed most so far and has stayed sound too, so any thought of trading him would seem strange. A team with a shot at Simmons or Ingram is unlikely to dangle a sufficiently high pick Philly’s way this summer for Okafor either.
Until we see the trinity of Okafor, Noel and Embiid in rotation together then we don’t know how they will work as a unit. Also throw in the high draft pick Philly will definitely get this summer even if the Lakers pick via Suns doesn’t come over, add to that Saric and another couple of first round picks Hinkie has to play with that are likely to come over. Thus next season you get a very different Philly core to this year.
Coach Brown will need time to sort his rotation and I don’t see Hinkie and Colangelo doing any deals unless Philly get full trade value.
Sure Philly will need to refine the roster in time but nothing major is likely to happen soon. If anything Philly will accumulate more draft picks as they have cap space to take salary dumps or be 3rd team in any trades that go down before deadline day.
