flybobbyflyParticipantStraight up. Both guys are on the trade block and I think it benefits both teams.
Minny would clear up space for derrick williams while also bringing in a legit thouroughbred scoring 2 guard to run next to rubio. I think Mayo could put up 22 points a game starting in minny.
Its a little bit more tricky for the grizz but if you can run Gay at the 2 which I think he is capable of. You have on of the biggest and hardest to guard line ups in basketball.
Minnies line up
Rubio, ridnour
mayo, johnson, ellington
williams, webster
love, randolph
darko, miller, pekovic
Grizz line up
conley, vasquez, selby
Gay, allen, henry
Beasley, battier
Randolph, Arthur
Gasol,
Thoughts? I think it would work out well for both teams.

CalipariParticipantFor the Grizzlies that’s more idealism than realism. Gay isn’t going to be playing the 2.

HobbyOGParticipantWhy would this be good for Memphis??? You got Rudy at the SF, Shane as his backup and Zach at PF..This would be a horrible trade for Memphis..They don’t want this jump shooting joint smoker in Memphis..

jjonzParticipantBeas put up good #’s on a Bad team. He has to show that he can contribute to a Winning franchise. Also, the Grizz are in a sticky situation when it comes to trading away players that develop a great chemistry during that 2nd half run when Gay went down. They made Chip type of moves last year (bringing in TAllen a winnner in Boston and glue guy SBattier a Winner in College and most of his professional career). So if you take away OJ they have to add someone who has won, or has a desire to win, Beasly @ this point of his career brings neither one of those qualities to the Table.

river09ParticipantI like it.
if mayo and williams pan out and randolph turns his potential into results this would be incredible for the wolves….. but since when did things go that well up here…
I will admit that I was extremely angry when the wolves traded oj mayo for kevin love… lol so what do I know..

HitsterParticipantMemphis has a team that actually looks decent, Z-Bo has turned his career around so why put the stoner Beasley in the line up. If Memphis could get some sort of 2012 first rounder for Mayo then I think they would be fairly happy but from their perspective why trade Mayo now when his trade value is so low?

Memphis MadnessParticipantIt doesn’t seem like Shane Battier coming back so even though Rudy Gay isn’t a 2 guard, Mike Beasley would be a very good sixth man. He can play with Darrell Arthur to give us size and scoring off the bench. We would still start Tony Allen (which we should do even if we keep OJ Mayo) then groom Xavier Henry (better size) and Josh Selby (similar game to OJ’s but shorter) to replace OJ Mayo. That would give the Grizzlies four great forwards with Rudy, Z Bo, Beasley, and D.A. with D.A. playing some center in smaller lineups. Then we have Gasol in the middle, Conley at point guard, Tony Allen at 2, and then some good backup guards. … I like this a lot for Memphis especially since we may not resign OJ, if, of course, Beasley wouldn’t mess up our chemistry.
It would be interesting to see how Mayo would do up in Minnesota but I am afraid that a Rubio and OJ backcourt would be too slow. I think that OJ Mayo would make a better sixth man along the lines of Jason Terry and Jamal Crawford. OJ came off the bench and was very effective, and it let him be the primary scoring option and allow him to handle the ball more.

NO EZ BUCKETSParticipantit’d be good for minny becuase they get rid of pot head beasly and get a good SG in return. I don’t like it for memphis though, I don’t see how beasly would fit into the rotation with battier, gay, randolph, and young. If gay is using up lots of mins at the 2 then they wouldn’t be able to give much minutes to TA, selby, and xavier henry

Memphis MadnessParticipantMjholmes,
It doesn’t sound like Shane Battier will be back. If not then Beasley would be a great small forward to bring in off the bench as a sixth man. Then we can pair him and D.A. and let D.A. play some center or play both at the same time with Haddadi in an ultra-big lineup. Selby is a shorter version of OJ Mayo so I think he can contribute some. Xavier Henry has the size to play some 2 guard off the bench. Plus, we still have Sam Young who can play some shooting guard even though he can’t shoot (but he can drive, post up, and finish). So it wouldn’t really be a bad trade for us, and I actually kind of like it if Beasley won’t hurt team chemistry and if we weren’t planning on resigning OJ Mayo anyway. This trade would really work if Henry, Young, and Selby could fill 25-30 minutes off the bench at the 2 that OJ Mayo played, and I think that trio could do it.

NO EZ BUCKETSParticipantoh yeah good point. If battier doesn’t come back then that trade would actually be really good. Beasly just has to live with being a back-up, he’d be a hell of a good 6th man if his ego doesn’t get in the way.

yaboymalParticipantI actually think this is a good trade im going to give you a thumbs up brother. This is obviously a good trade for Minny, but for those of you who think is bad for Memphis I dont understand why? Assuming shane battier is gone this would be great for memphis. Instead of bringing OJ off the bench now you cant start xavier henry/tony allen and bring a great scoring foward off the bench in Michael Beasley, this way when either Rudy or Zach come out the game your not missing a beat offensively. Also this would relieve the crowded back court and give the guards more freedom.

akhan786Participant@fly Nah man I didn’t mean anything negative. It’s just more often than not when ANYONE posts a trade it almost always gets negs even if it sometimes makes sense. I read over what I said and I can see how it might’ve come across as saying YOU shouldn’t post trades here. I meant it as just a disclaimer to the general public. No hard feelings man.

Bmore_DCParticipantits not terrible…but at this point Beasley’s trade value is very low…
personally i think hes a beast…but his off the court trouble and on court antics have GMs scared to take the chance. YES this trade would benefit both teams, but if im Memphis im asking for a first rd pick with that too…or at least Wes Johnson. Otherwise your just asking to be fired when Beasley cant even get on the court due to suspensions.
