Lotto StudParticipantWho is the perfect O.J. Mayo comparison??????
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/26/2010 - 5:51am #342024

Toronto16ParticipantGilbert Arenas, minus the guns.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/26/2010 - 7:08am #342052

IndianaBasketballParticipantMayo tested very athletic at the combine, but he doesn’t play as athletic or explosive as Arenas did before the knee injury. Arenas could get past anybody off of the bounce, finish at the rim or get to the line. That’s not Mayo.
There is no perfect comparison for Mayo.

OhCanada-ParticipantWatch him play amd youll find out O.J. Mayo plays most like O.J. Mayo…End of story.

OhCanada-ParticipantBut he does remind me of a small Kobe at times.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/26/2010 - 7:18am #342057

IndianaBasketballParticipantMayo’s a big fan of Kobe and has been trying to add Kobe’s footwork into his game.

Lotto StudParticipantThe reason why I asked was, because I didn’t like the Ben Gordon comparison from the site. That’s not Mayo’s style of play @ all.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/26/2010 - 7:19am #342060

IndianaBasketballParticipantThis site compared him to Ben Gordon and Stephon Marbury… Both bad comparisons in my opinion.

OhCanada-ParticipantI see Mayo being great one day.his poise, skillset, attitude and everything just remiunds me of those amazing wings.the only thing holding him back IMO is 2 inches.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/26/2010 - 7:31am #342065

IndianaBasketballParticipantMayo is undersized for the two guard and doesn’t have great length… He doesn’t use his athleticism to get to the rim or free-throw line enough… And when he does, he doesn’t finish all that well.
I think he has the potential to be a savy/mentally tough and very good all-around player… A legit 2nd or 3rd option on a championship caliber team.

OhCanada-ParticipantI agree 100% Butler.Had he grown to be 6’7 he would definitely be alot better defensively as he has a very good IQ.I see him as a championship calibur 2nd or 3rd scorer if he can improve his defense.
Imagine Mayo and Bosh or Mayo and Howard.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantChauncey Billups? He is Mayo’s favorite player and has said he tried to copy his game while growing up.

Steveni know you guys are gonna minues me, but hes a clone of LATRELL SPREWELL

Lotto StudParticipantMayo tested @ the combine very athletically. I don’t know why he doesn’t showcase his athleticism in games, especially that (41inch vert)

MBRHParticipantfor some players its different in games as opposed to in a controlled environment

Mr. 19134ParticipantActually coming into the draft teams were looking Mayo as a point guard, he wound up measuring taller a legit 6’5 then teams thought. But when Mayo was preparing for the draft at Tim Grovers basketball predraft fantasy workout world, Mayo was studying film of Deron Williams comparing his game to Derons. The reason he chose Deron is because both are big strong and quick as a point guard. http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/o.j.-mayo-238/ that has the interview where he compares himself to Deron.
Actually Mayo is nothing like Deron not even if he played point guard. Deron is crafty Mayo is just confused. Mayo don’t know if he should use to I.Q. or athleticism to beat people and it shows. Mayo is still around a 20 ppg and 5 assists player in this league. and if he can really play the point in the League watch out. Billups comes to mind and Mayo got the work ethic to get there.

Mr. 19134ParticipantActually one of the ESPN writers just wrote a very compelling article are athletic opportunities. He talks about what separates players from other is not their athletic ability its how they use it. He talked about how some players understand better then other how to use their ability and see opportunities open up as the game goes on. A good example of this is Andre Iguadola and Thad Young. Thad Young is way more athletic then Iggy beleive it or not but Iggy knows how to use every lil bit of his only 34.5 inch vert. Bet many people wouldn’t guess that Iggy didn’t even jump 35 inches at the combine.

JJeff6Participantactually i would compare him to andre iguodala.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/26/2010 - 11:28am #342179

ilike.panochasParticipantI see a little bit of Joe Dumars in his game. Although Dumars was one of the greatest defensive guards in his time, OJ is a good defensive guard, but I doubt he becomes great defender like Dumars.

Lotto StudParticipantLink please???????
Someone gave me a minus for stating that Mayo doesn’t show his athletic ability WOW!!!!
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/26/2010 - 12:27pm #342226
knicksfan7ParticipantHow does a poor man’s Mitch Richmond sound minus the defensive abilities.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/26/2010 - 12:55pm #342246

ilike.panochasParticipantI actually think Eric Gordon is closer to Mitch Richmond than Mayo is. Plus Mitch Richmond is an INCREDIBLE finisher around the rim even tho hes only 6’4-6’5, compare to OJ who has been criticize for not being a good finisher.

Lotto StudParticipantI find it very funny that he’s the only player that’s hard to find a legitimate comparison for. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or bad thing, because that may show his originality as a player to the game.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/26/2010 - 3:37pm #342332

ilike.panochasParticipantIts Not that hard to find a comparison for Mayo. 6’4 combo guard that can shoot, we’ve seen plenty of those type of players in the past. I mentioned Joe Dumars and I got a negative point for it, both are 6’4, same athletically and can shoot, and both can be catogorize as combo guards.
