If this was all there was to the trade, then WTF was the Mavs thinking giving up that much for a loser and a has-been?

Easy with the all caps when you post a trade that happened a long time ago, and not even the latest trade going down as MikeZ stated, also considering the fact THAT THIS MIGHT BE THE MOST HYPED AND ANTICIPATED OFF-SEASON EVER!

I’m already on pins and needles over here as it is. You can’t do that.

Im actually happy you made the thread I didnt know about the trade. I didnt see the other trade post for Dallas and NY.

All the ghost users come out to play around draft time and threads move quick.

Chandler is a great piece for Dallas. Last time he played with Carlisle and Nowitzki they won a Championship.

Calderon is a great piece for New York as well. He will learn and run the triangle offence correctly no matter who else is on the team. This will allow Fisher to have order on the court and have others buy into his system. They also get to inject youth and possibly begin rebuilding assets with the draft picks by developing late picks into good assets and Larkin, Calderons current understudy and a player that can play a "Derek Fisher" type PG role in the triangle very good from what I saw in his collge days.

There is also no void for Chandlers role as Dalembert takes those minutes as a similar yet not as effective role, and Calderon is an upgrade to Felton.

Doesnt look like much but this is a very smart trade by New York.

Nice to see the Knicks make an intelligent trade for once.

I was about to post a thread about it, too. Found yours in the last sec. I’m excited to see if the Knicks will draft someone serviceble with those 2nd rounders. For cap-space reasons, they should draft at least one international prospect and stash him overseas. Any thoughts on NYK’s options tonight ?

Dallas needed a rim protector, Chandler is already familiar with the teammates, the coaching staff, the schemes and so on. Also, they got the best out of Calderon and they know that contract might end up being a bad to very bad one. I’m a big fan of Calderon, but he’s already 33 and has 3 years left on his deal at roughly $7.5 million per year. He can shoot like no other point guard in the league, he’s savy and has great poise, but he can’t go to rim nor guard anyone and he’s not going to get quicker. So they get that rim protector and dum Calderon’s deal (plus Chandler’s contract expires next year. The price for that is to take Felton’s contract and guns and to give those second round picks. Dallas probably could’ve use them, since they have no first rounders this year and they have many free agents to replace. But they also have ton of cap room, so they can still put together a decent roster. Felton is likely to stay on the books for two other years (he has a player option for 2015-16 that he’s likely to exercise) and this year he hasn’t looked like a basketball player, but if he can get at least in a decent shape he’s not a terrible option as a back up point guard (and even if he doesn’t he’s owed roughly $4.5 million per year, a lot considered his contribution, but not a cap killer).

NY needs assets, now with 2 second round picks they can try and make a move to get a first rounder from a team not interested in signing a rookie next year or with an extra first round pick (Phoenix, OKC, Charlotte, Utah). And even if they can’t manage to trade into the first round they can still hope to get a decent player at #34 in a deep draft. Thing is they need to find someone who might be a contributor at a low price. It’s a bit risky, especially since they’re taking Calderon’s deal to put even more pressure on their salary cap, but at this point they’re probably in rebuild mode, waiting for summer 2015 when Bargnani and Amare’s contracts will expire. By then they will have a lot of cap space and both the cap and tax line will be a lot higher, so even if Calderon abruptly ends being an Nba player the impact of his deal wouldn’t be so traumatic. And by the way, as long as he can play the Knicks could really use a playmaker who plays under control and can run the team.
