This is on the Yahoo rumor page. What do you think. He could be a good fit while Lawson is learning to play and could spell the SG position.

Nuggets trying to sign Flip Murray
    By Mark Miller

The Denver Nuggets have apparently made a $1.1 million offer to Flip Murray(notes) that he has yet to sign, according to FanHouse. The word is that he would like another $800,000 in the deal. But the team is already $5.5 million over the salary cap so it’s hard to believe any more money will be offered.

The team would apparently like Murray to start in place of JR Smith(notes) while he serves his seven-game suspension at the start of the season for pleading guilty to reckless driving in a 2007 accident that killed a passenger in his vehicle. Then Murray will serve as a backup.

If Murray doesn’t sign, the team may turn to free-agent swingman Keith Bogans(notes), who apparently would like to sign with Denver.

This will help solidify our (not that I’m on the team) bench. We wanted Rashad Mcants and I’m not sure what happened with that. Ironically, Murry is a good player and better scorer. He’s never been on a team to be the star, unless you include when Ray Allen became hurt in Seattle. That’s how Murray became known anyway. I hope this works out. The Nuggets bench is a little thin right now. But only 1.1 mil. Murray is worth more money than that.

    D. I know you are a Nugget fan. I have a question for ya. Do you think they need to start looking for another PF to repace Keynon Martin? Or maybe a C to let Nene slide over?? I think Bird Man is a great backup but will never be a starter. Also, I think that Murry is a better choice than McCants because he is proven. That will mean that Aflallo will be playing some SF/SG and Murry at SG/PG.

good move hes a defense first player and would be perfect alongside Smith starting in front of him as a replacement for Jones.

Im surprised no one has showed interest in him, besides Lee and Robinson…i think hes the best FA still available

Really solid scorer of the bench…i think he can be valuable to any team

And i agree with Iguodala..were are you guys seeing this defensive ability? I mean..he gives an effort, but its not the best one around..

Is this Flip Murray we’re talking about? He’s not defense-first at all. I saw him play alot last year with the Hawks and he provided nothing really but scoring off the bench. He really can get hot on the perimeter and create his shots, but he doesnt play the best D. He’s a reacher who gambles for steals.

Why is Denver going after him though? He provides basically the same things Smith does with less size and athleticism. And they have Lawson and Billups at point, and they resigned Anthony Carter already (only God knows why). They would be better off going after Bogans, since he’s a shooter with good D and size.

I doubt we can get anyone to take on Keyon’s contract. He’s under contract this year and next. But we need a big man. A enforcer and or bruiser who isn’t afraid to mix it up. Keyon is 6’7 and 3/4. and birdman is a high energy guy, but he’s a feather weight. So yeah, we need another big man to help Nene. FYI, on about a dozen teams, Nene would be an all-star.
