juves4783Participantjust looking at the nuggs for the 14-15 season, they have the following guys under contract.
javele mcgee, tim mosgov (20-20 game last night), jj hickson, kenneth faried, anthony randolph, danilo gallinari, wilson chandler, randy foye, evan fournier, ty lawson
with player options: nate robinson, darrell arthur
and team option: quincy miller.
bryan shaw seems to really be high on quincy so i imagine they’ll bring him back and i can’t see nate rob testing free agency coming off an acl tear. darrell arthur is putting together decent numbers when he’s on the court and is likely to test the market. and the nuggs already used their amnesty.
my question is with all this depth, what position do you think they’d shoot for in the draft? i like the idea of drafting zach lavine, aaron gordon or dario saric (if he declares). young guys that can spend a year on the bench learning or overseas.
any thoughts?

imAboutDatActionParticipantyeah they should onto Quincy Miller. one more year to see if he puts things togetheir. cheap, low risk/high reward.
i’ll aim for a SG. Harris, Staukas, or James Young.
Lawson is your man at the Point. he needs someone with upside back there with him. McGee will start due to his contract. QMiller will probably get some run at the 3. Farried at the 4. Gallo should be back after two years off.

terrancebowerParticipantThey’re pretty deep everywhere except for SG. I would say Harris, LaVine or Young would be a good fit. They basically have log jams up and down their roster which would be ok, but their players are all so young and need some time on the floor to grow. I think if everyone is healthy, Lawson, Galo, Faried and McGee are all starting, with very low chance of anyone taking the backup minutes away from the Hickson/Mozgov tandem, or Wilson Chandler, or Robinson if he’s good to go. I think you keep Miller if you can flip Chandler for a pick, and draft a SG with Fournier coming off the bench. Otherwise I don’t see many roles for rookies on the Nuggets. I think they need to flip some players for future picks just to clean up the line-ups and salary books.

NCarmean18ParticipantI myself like the idea of going after a shooting guard. As a Nuggets fan, I have been overly impressed with Randy Foye this season, but I know that he is not the long term answer. In all honesty, I really like Evan Fournier. He played rather well at the end of last season for us, and he has not been too bad this season either.
I just want somebody he can shoot the ball from the perimeter pretty well, because I know that is something that the Nuggets struggle with. Where the Nuggets are projected right now, I would say that their best bet(s) would be Zach LaVine, Nik Stauskas, or James Young. I myself prefer James Young over Stauskas because he has more of an all-around game, whereas Stauskas loves to live around the perimeter. I also like James Young more than Zach LaVine because LaVine is rather unpolished, and he would not a lot more development.

Rip255The Nuggets are stuck in mediocrity with that lineup of average players, many of which are dealing with serious injuries. Their whole team consists below average starters or above average bench players. There’s no superstar power whatsoever. A 35-45 win season in the West is all they could hope for and a mid-first rounder won’t make them any better.
Time to blow it up in Denver in exchange for draft picks, young talent and expiring contracts. They’re just so mediocre and that won’t change with this roster, especially with many coming off bad injuries.
Keep
Fornier + Miller (talent, youth)
Hickson (need to keep roster respectable)
Mcgee + Gallinari stays (Re-assess when healthy)
Trade for Value (Young talent, 1st round Picks)
Manimal, Ty Lawson and Mozgov are worth a 1st round pick
Trade for Anything you can get (2nd round picks, expiring contracts, cap flexibility)
Randolphe, Chandler and Foye.

chall23ParticipantDo you think they let Vesely walk or try to sign him? He’s averaging 4ppg 4 boards, over a steal and about a block in 14mpg. In that high Octane offense I feel like he could contribute. I hope Shaw gives him more burn these finals games because he fits the style of play Denver’s best at, he’s better than Arthur lol

XYRYXParticipantIt’s not like this 14/15 roster is shabby or something but there is a logjam at the forward spots, that doesn’t really help the team going forward. First of all I think Gallo is a really good player when healthy and if they don’t want to move any starters they should keep him.
Their biggest problem is that they have basically 6 forwards (or gib men) who are starter material. Faried played only 27 minutes this year but averages 18 and 11 on 55% from the field per 36 minutes. If you ask me they need to find out if they want to keep Faried and then move forward without Chandler, Hickson, Gallo, Miller, Vesely, Mozgov, Randolph or McGee. Depth is one thing but a logjam is something different.
If I had to chose I would pay Faried and keep Gallo, Hickson, Miller and Mozgov and try to trade anybody else for picks and a starting sg or let Vesely just walk. McGee will probably never play more than 30 min a game due to his asthma and his stupidity but will be very hard to move with his contract and after a season where barely played.
This might hurt Fournier who is finishing this season on a strong note but I don’t see him be a starter within the next two years. Denver needs to find a way to make this rotation more clear, same goes for the Cavs who have a logjam at the frontcourt too with the exeption that they might not hav a SF if Deng leaves.
Maybe the Nuggets can make a splash with the T-Wolves to bring over Pek and get rid of McGee and some of the forwards or even try to trade for K-Love but that is more than unlikely. They have the assets and should really try to give this team a better identity.

tuck243ParticipantThe depth they possess is great but the issue is they don’t have a superstar. Almost every player on their team could be a great starting piece for a championship caliber team. The issue is there aren’t any players on that team that can get a consistent 24+ points efficiently if you go to him. They need to draft strictly potential in hopes to get a future star. Or get rid of some of those pieces and allow them to go to teams that will utilize them and give em minutes.
