basedSERBParticipantwhat do you thik the starting lineup at north carolina will look like this year. its actually hard to say because there is SO much talent on that team, more than half of them are draft prospects.
This is what i think it will look like:
PG-Larry Drew- he is a junior and i really doubt a freshman with a score of 95 will take his spot
SG-Will Graves- i really dont think he is a prospect, but the coach will start him because of expierience
SF-Harrison Barnes- Obvious choice
PF-John Henson- Nobody to challenge him for position
C-Tyler Zeller- Nobody to challenge for positionBench:
Kendall Marshall- he is good but i dont think he will start over Drew, he’ll probably start in 2 years when drew is gone
Reggie Bullock- might even have a chance of starting this year (u never know) a draft prospect, but has competion for his position
Leslie Mcdonald- solid scorer should get minutes this year and should get drafted senior year
Dexter Strickland- this dude is a beast and should get minutes0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/03/2010 - 3:18pm #409032

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantReggie Bullock WILL start over Will Graves. Bullock is a monster.

xavier328ParticipantPg: Larry Drew ( should be 5x better than he was last year…reducing his turnovers and shooting)
Sg:Reggie Bullock(Could be our Wayne Ellington but he’s way more athletic than him and can put the ball on the floor.
SF:Harrison Barnes (potential player of the year)
PF:John Henson (will lead the ACC in shot blocking mark it down)…potential double -double
C:Tyler Zeller (If healthy 15Pg 9Rb 1.5Blks per game will be our only lost post option
6th man:Will Graves(instant scoring off the bench high energy guy)
Justin Knox: our Ronny Turiaf another high energy guy…the loan big man off the bench we will need him to bang.
Dexter Strickland: look good some nights than look bad the next going…. love his scoring off the bench.
Kendall Marshall: love his passing ability pass first Pg …wont be surprise if not starting early if Drew continue to struggle.

JNixonParticipantStarting Lineup:
PG- Larry Drew III- He HAS to improve after a bad Soph season. I think he will. He has plenty of quickness and nice drive and dish skills, but he isn’t a quick decision maker. So even though he has the necessary tools to be a great fast pace PG, he struggled last year because he wasn’t instinctive enough to make quick decisions. He should improve that will experience though.
SG- Reggie Bullock- He can shoot it very well with range, is a strong mid-range player, and he has the ability to play in transition too because he’s a good athlete. He also is a pretty nice defender. He needs to improve his handles, but he should have a solid impact next year. He reminds me of Wayne Ellington for now, but he has the potential to be another Rip Hamilton down the line.
SF- Harrison Barnes- Barnes can do everything well. He’s extremely good at every aspect of the game, excpet he’s only decent as a ball-handler and 3-point shooter (yes…you have to dig that deep to find a weakness for him). I think he should have a Luol Deng type impact or a similar season to the one Wesley Johnson just enjoyed at Cuse.
PF- John Henson- He supposedly got to 220 after being about 195-200 last year at 6’10. He’s one of the top shot-blockers in the ACC easily, and he can catch and finish with his explosive leaping ability. He has raw tools, including shaky range to the college 3 and the ability to get rebounds and initiate fast breaks, but he is too inconsistent with them and not polished enough to go to it for more than spurts. He should improve, but I doubt he lives up to his HS hype by next year.
C- Tyler Zeller- IMO, he was a good bit more talented than Ed Davis as an offensive player and scorer, as he can score with his back to the basket a little, make 15 foot jumpers and he is a decent passer for a 7’0 guy. He just didn’t rebound or defend the post as good as Davis did, and he was a bit foul prone. Zeller isn’t very strong and shies away from contact on both ends a bit, but he has the size, touch and and athleticism to make a nice leap in production and effectiveness next year. I expect about 11 or 12 ppg and 6 or 7 rpg from Zeller, along with a block or so. He’s not mentioned as a prospect much, but he has the potential to be an interesting guy in 2012 or 2013.
Rotation:
PG/SG Dexter Strickland- He provides aggressiveness and is more of a natural scorer than
PG Kendall Marshall- Dont expect much from him. He’s slow and a bad shooter, and he’s not all that polished a player yet. He can pass the ball and he has floor vision, but he’s not a very good fit for the UNC offense given his weaknesses and he’s not really to contribute. Strickland and Drew should get the vast majority of the important PG minutes, with Marshall playing like 10-15 mpg.
SG/SF Will Graves- He’s a big bodied shooter who tries on D, and he comes through for UNC at times in the clutch. Nothing more or less
SG/SF Leslie McDonald- An athletic shooter who struggles to handle the ball or play great D.
PF/C Justin Knox- Big bodied rebounder and post defender. He’s a rugged big who gives them a body to spell the fragile Zeller.

Lotto StudParticipantWhy won’t Roy Williams start Strickland over Drew? It’s obvious he’s a much better player than Drew.

xavier328ParticipantDrew is more of a true PG and can run the offense
Strickland is more of a scorer-a slasher-and not doesnt create for others

Lotto StudParticipantWell with that being said I know who you would start.
Is there anyone out there that would rather see strickland start over Drew?

sc0rebuckets11Participantno. strickland is out of control, and he’s still a project when it comes to running point.
bullock is not starting. graves is going to be the starting 2.

scoutguruParticipantStrickland is learning the job on the fly, in what is a fast paced offense where decisions have to be made at split seconds. They should quit that pg experiment and just have him out there as an instant offense guy. Saw him in HS and even some flashes this past year as a true freshman, he has the ability to score and that ability should not be tamed. And although at times Drew played poorly, he his a true pg and looks for his teamates and dropped a lot of nice dimes last year and posted a solid Ass/TO ratio. If Strickland was in there last year things coulda been uglier for UNC. Drew should be improved and now that he has more weapons around him, and improved weapons (hoping zeller/henson steps up), he should be ok.
