The trade is Eric Gordon, Ryan Anderson for Greg Monroe, Rodney Stuckey(expiring), Charlie Villanueva(expiring) and a conditional 1st round pick in 2016

New Orleans gets a Good Young Big to pair with Anthony Davis while acquiring a good amount of cap space to get FA in 2014 summer.

Detroit gets Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson to help space the court which is their biggest weakness.

Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon are too much to give for Monroe. What is more… you are getting 2 bad players, that although they expire this year, you still have to pay them.

Eric Gordon is regaining his level, and Ryan Anderson has been a beast since the Davi’s injury… that conditional 1st wont be enough!

 Calling Rodney Stuckey a "bad" player and then saying that Gordon is regaining his level is a serious exagerration.  Rodney Stuckey is playing better than Eric Gordon right now.  

Stuckey is averaging 15.2-2.4-2.2 on the year on 46% shooting on 27.7 MPG.  Gordon is averaging 15.5-2.7-3.2 on 42.8% shooting on 32.1 MPG.  Add in that Stuckey gets to the free throw line more and plays better defense and the difference between them isn’t that much.  Given that Stuckey’s contract is much better than Gordon’s, I should expect that the Pelicans would trade EG straight-up for Stuckey.

This trade actually works for the Pelicans in the long-run; the question is whether it works for Detroit.  It would definitely raise the ceiling of this year’s Pistons team and improve its ability to contend in the postseason.  It still wouldn’t transform it into a likely title contender, but there is no easy way for the Pistons to build a serious contender.

The trade is somewhat risky for both teams, but this is one of the better Eric Gordon trades I have heard on this site.

 Agree with you 100%. Stuckey is a pretty nice back up player that would probably fit with just about any team. The real question here is whether Gordon can stay healthy, and as we all no that’s far from a garuantee. EG still has upside and could put it together someday, but do I trade my most tradeable asset for a question mark? I don’t think so…

 Stuckey and Gordon are basically the same player (Gordon has a better three pointer) why would detroit trade for the same player. Also Ryan Anderson is a bigger liability on defense than monroe is…Its not a bad trade, but as a detroit fan I would not do it…I would trade for Jeff Green though.

 Detroit would win that trade, they get outside shooting and a stretch 4 to play alongside Drummond. Plus a reliable outside shooter in Gordon who can be a stellar defensive player on the wing when healthy.

While I like the Monroe-Anderson swap, I think Gordon makes it lopsided because the Pelicans lose a lot of outside shooting in one trade and are left with Tyreke playing the SG.
