According to ESPN, Noel has confirmed that he is entering the 2013 NBA draft.
I dont think he drops out of the top two unless it’s determined that his knee is not progressing at all.

I preach Nerlens Noel going number all day, but I have to admit the possibility of him sliding to 3 is there, with Marcus Smart and Bmac going 1,2

in a weak draft (on paper) such as this one…I would pick Noel regardless of what pick I had.

If the Bobcats select him #1 he will bust on a team with no offense.

But All in all wouldn’t be shocked if he goes first, but still a big gamble who else from this class is a better choice with the first pick?

If a offensively challenged team like the Bobcats have the first overall pick, drafting Noel will only hurt them more; Noel’s offensive game isn’t where it should be to help a team that needs plenty of scoring.

If a defensively challenged team (like the Magic, Kings, etc.) has the first overall pick, I could see Noel performing just as Andre Drummond has with the Pistons this year. Detroit is allowing him to progress at his own pace on offense, but it hasn’t taken away from his ability to be a game-changer on the defensive side of the ball. Likewise, if Noel fits in a system that allows him to focus solely on defense first, he’ll get comfortable, and his offensive game will unfold in due time.

It’s funny how a weak draft has gotten some of Oden’s biggest naysayers on board to drafting a big man recovering from a torn ACL with the first pick. It’s harder on your body to be big, and I know Noel will probably go 1st, but I think he’ll be riddled by injury due to 2 ACL issues at this point.

Aren’t getting the number 1 pick.. Just a guess but I think Jordan asked the NBA to wait to rig the 2014 draft instead for him. Hahaha jk

BUT I think any and every team in the top 5 SHOULD take Noel. Just because you can always use bigs who are verygood at defense and athletically above other bigs. Will he be taken number 1? I doubt it because of what @joewolf1 said, nobody wants to take the possibility of another Greg Oden situation. I just hope he lands on the magic so Noel and Nikola can be a great tandem together and worry about point gaurd in next years draft. Because if they get let’s say Marcus smart then that might win then a few more games and loose possibility of getting a better pick in a better draft.but maybe Marcus Smart is the better pick since Julius randle will be available in the top 5.

The fact that Noel is the closest thing we have to a lock #1 pick right now digusts me. How can you draft a guy who relies completely on his athleticism #1 when he’s coming off an injury that could potentially inhibit that athleticism? He scores off garbage buckets and he isn’t even that great of a defender at this point (pump fake him and he’s done). It blows my mind.
