saw an article on washingtonpost.com posted my Sam Amick on twitter stating that he is likely to sign with the Knicks with the deal starting around 18 million a year.. Although he still plans to meet with 3 teams (the Knicks being the first of the three).. Honestly im happy he doesn’t go chase rings with Golden State. Thoughts?

Nice get by the Knicks if Noah indeed decides to sign.

Makes that Derrick Rose/RoLo trade seem like a win, knowing they’ve got a better player in Noah coming in.

So thats an upgrade at PG and at C.

I also think D-Rose will have a servicable season.

Zingis, Noah, Carmello, Rose….if those guys are all motivated that team is in the playoff mix for sure. They’re only another superstar and a couple of role players (or 100% D-Rose) away from contending in the East.

Aren’t most teams another superstar away from contending? You add a superstar to any playoff team and they are contending.

If the Knicks sign Noah to 18 million a year, their team will consist of

      PF Rose

      SG —

      SF Anthony

      PF Porzingis

      C Noah

      Bench: Kyle O’Quinn, Justin Holiday

That’s already 73 millions in salary and they don’t have a starting five or a bench yet. No way are they adding a superstar.

I don’t like what the Knicks are doing, they’re going to be in the playoffs next year, but the team looks horrible defensively (Rose, Anthony and Kristaps* aren’t good), Noah is very injury prone and isn’t his former self, 18 million seems way too much.

      * I’m sorry, Krisptaps is a good help defender, but not very good one on one right now.

They’re getting washed up expensive players and I think it will really hurt them going forward. Rose, Noah, Carmelo – they can’t be in your plans going forward.

Good question Anton, and let me be the first to commend you on your many fine posts on the site. Unfortunately, your previous comment was not one of your finest.

Of course every team would be better by having an All-Star, but despite popular opinion the Knicks are always in with a better chance than most other teams in the league and have a history of attracting/retaining big names. How many other teams does that apply to in the East? Cavs & Heat maybe. Some of those big names haven’t worked out…but the pull of NYC is strong. Examples of how they can increase their star factor…

        • Porzingis could easily become the best bigman in the league
        • Derrick Rose could find a second life in a new environment
        • A big free agent with dreams of the big city life could come (Eg Lebron / DWade loves NY and Carmello. Rumors of the superfriends uniting to form a superteam?)
        • $30m from D-Rose alone is coming off the books in 12 months and the cap is going to skyrocket again. Possibilities there too.
        • Plus the hiring of Jeff Hornacek is a smart move and hes a popular coach with players.

So whilst assuming the Knicks will suck forever is excusable, I’m optimistic about their future and like the way they’re moving and shaking this offseason.

I in no way disregard the possibility of the Knicks being good next year and, perhaps, in the future. You are completely right that if:

          1. Rose finds a second life

          2. Noah returns to form

          3. Carmelo continues to be good and doesn’t regress.

          4. Porzingis develops quickly and becomes more efficient, consistent and a better one-on-one defender.

          5. The management does a good job finishing up the roster.

The thing is, I truly don’t think any of these things will happen, I think Carmelo will be worse, Noah will not be the all-star he used to be, Porzingis needs at least one more yeat and Rose will not be reborn.

I don’t know if I’m right, but that’s my opinion, we’ll see who is correct. If I’m right, the Knicks are setting themselves up to suck for years to come. If you are, they’re doing a great job.

that your Breakdown was astute……… My original thought was hey this is Exciting & it’s better than nothing

but I am beginning to become wonder if Phil Jackson is merely planning is L.A. Lakers exit w/ a whole bunch of Big Names – who in reality are washed up Has Beens…….

I am so torn whether we should approach Melo & get permission to Trade him &just grit our Teeth & do Proper, Full Rebuild around Porzingus.

I Luv Porzingus’ Upside….. but I’m not sure he has the abilities to be a #1 Alpha …… & that is OK b/c there are Several potential Stars in the 2017 Draft ……… By trading Melo could we land a 2nd High 2017 Lottery pick…….. & that would give us 3 Studs as a Core…………….

Taking short cuts just has Not worked out for the Knicks……. what do others think???

Damn junkie, youre gonna need to change your username to liquidator81.

All you wanna do is strip rosters of their assets down to the bare bones.

Noah is a good pick up for the Bulls, not sure about the salary level at his age. He knows D-Rose well and can certainly help Porzingis develop. The Knicks need bench depth so a lot will depend on which veterans they can add via the 2nd and 3rd tier FA market.
