butidonthavemoneyThe NBA decided not to suspend Utah Jazz head coach Jerry Sloan, for his recent throwdown with referee Michael Smith.
Last Friday night in Phoenix with 0.2 seconds left in the game, Grant Hill fouled Ronnie Price hard on a meaningless dunk attempt. The play was dirty, dangerous and completely unnecessary — as the Suns were up by double digits and the game was pretty much over.
Amare Stoudemire loved the dirty play, he ran off the bench and started celebrating with his fellow douchebag teammate Grant Hill as they marveled in their moral victory of hurting a player for no good reason.
Since Ronnie Price is a member of the Jazz, and worth less money than Amare, the refs decided to let the infraction go. Amare was punished once before for stepping onto the court when he wasn’t supposed to, but since this game was in Phoenix the refs decided that it didn’t matter.
As Amare and Grant Hill were high fiving each other, and Ronnie Price layed on the floor in pain, Jerry Sloan decided to protest. He approached the ref to explain that Hill and Amare should be ejected, but the refs must have heard him wrong (the arena was very loud as all the fans were cheering/laughing at Price) and thought Sloan said something about his mother. The ref started coming toward Sloan in a threatening manner, so Sloan shielded himself with his forearm. This set off a fury, and Sloan was ejected.
In that past the ref wouldn’t have gotten off so easy. Jerry Sloan was suspended for seven games in 2003 for pushing a ref during a Kings game. A similar incident occured in 1993.
By the way, this is all true.

ThaMatrixParticipantWow…. Shows how horrible the Refs are in this league.
And Sloan had a right to protest.

DanEboyParticipantYeah, the other week Kirk Hinrich was upset about a call and starting running towards the official to argue. The ref came to an abrupt stop and Kirk ran into him. He got suspended for making contact with a ref. Garbage.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantWell this is more of a matter of opinion.. Not looking to argue here.. But while I see that it was an unnecessary foul by Hill.. It was also an unnecessary dunk attempt by Price. If Price has the right to go for a pointless stat filling dunk.. Why doesn’t Grant Hill have the right to keep playing tough defense?

butidonthavemoney90% of the time if a player can get a good shot up and they are losing by a large margin, they will take it.
Grant Hill is a major arse for doing that. A younger Jerry Sloan would have stormed the court and fought Hill like a man. He squared up to Dennis Rodman in a game once after Rodman tried to hurt John Stockton. He had to be restrained by the entire Utah coaching staff. Man, I miss fiesty Jerry.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantAn NBA game is 48 minutes. You play for those 48 minutes and leave it on the court. When the Mavs put that 50pt spanking on the Knicks… All of their starters played over 30min. Why if the game is over? Same thing here. What’s wrong with a tough foul that would have been good in the 2nd qtr of the game? They get paid to play every second their on the court. I think you’ve forgotten how competitive NBA players are. Perhaps you’ve forgotten, or you’re too young, to remember how good Grant Hill was in his prime. 6x all star and a 25ppg scorer. Players like that tend to be VERY competitive.
