UncledrewParticipantIn my opinion he’s everything we wanted Andrew Wiggins to be. He’s a 6’8 guard can defend either wing position with ease, an aggressive defender (lock down potential), underrated ball handling skills, seems to make everything look easy and most importantly has a SCORERS MENTALITY what I think wiggins game lacks. I see alot of people give him flak for his jump shot which is alittle unorthodox but effective especially off the dribble also his attitude which to me just screams "Not only am I the best player in the gym, watch and see why". Maybe because the kid is 19 but irregardless he’s the most polished prep wing I’ve seen since Kd that should generate alittle more hype in itself. Everyone is yelling sink for simmons which I agree he is nice but in 2017 I think Josh Jackson is THAT guy.

BleedGreen808ParticipantFrom what I’ve seen he plays with intensity and competitiveness you want to see in a top prospect with two way potential.

negguaryParticipantis a word just still not widely accepted
Irregardless originated in dialectal American speech in the early 20th century. Its fairly widespread use in speech called it to the attention of usage commentators as early as 1927. The most frequently repeated remark about it is that “there is no such word.” There is such a word, however. It is still used primarily in speech, although it can be found from time to time in edited prose. Its reputation has not risen over the years, and it is still a long way from general acceptance. Use regardless instead.

Parker2016ParticipantThis guy can not handle the ball at even The college level I belive. It is one thing to have the talent but Jackson doesn’t have fluidity with the ball, much the same as wiggins. That is the difference between these highly athletic players and lebron Simmons ect. Totally different styles so hard to relate Jackson with an upper tier player as he does not look nba ready.

Ewalton23ParticipantI’ve seen Josh Jackson play several times over the past two years as I have coached on the same Grassroots Circuit, Under Armour. Jackson definitely has the ball handling ability to be a big time player at the next level. If this was still high school to NBA Jackson would produce in the NBA next year around 15ppg. His game is suited for the NBA game as he will only get better with more space. My one knock would be his inconsistent jump shot at this point in his career but that is no concern as Tracy McGrady, Kobe Bryant AND Lebron James also had this as their major weakness coming into the league but all three show that you can improve in this category. I mention the above three players because he is a top notch wing in a similar mold to all three with the exception of Lebron’s bulk, he can do a lot of things similar to these three and is indeed an NBA athlete.

whiteflashParticipantDid you really just write that Jackson would put up 15ppg in the NBA NEXT YEAR!?!? What’s with some posters on this site? Some mongo’s are saying Embiid could be Olajuwon (NO F@CKING WAY THAT HAPPENS) and now you’re saying Jackson would put up 15ppg in the NBA. That is so f@cking ridiculous I don’t know where to start. I said Mudiay would struggle and got negged. Said Labisierre would struggle and got negged. Said Malik Newman would struggle and got negged. Been around the game a long time and I’m seldom wrong about prospects pand ball players. Mark it down, Jackson will struggle. Unless he goes to Nowhersville U, he won’t get 15ppg next year in college.

UncledrewParticipantI’m not saying josh jackson is James harden with the basketball but he definantly looks more comfortable with it in his hands then wiggins did at the same stage or at Kansas ….he looks more comfortable with it then paul george did at Fresno st in my opinion to. I guess everyone expects a franchise player to be 6’10 240 now with passing and handles like lebron. While it’s great to make your teammates better I think passing is the most overrated skill. When Lakers or sixers get the number 1 pick assuming one of them get it since there clearly the 2 worst teams in the league they will draft simmons because he’s the best overall player. Yes he will create and set up more opportunitys for his teammates to score because he’s a great passer but his name will be called because he will be expected to dominate his match up first in scoring by doing what he does best using his body, athleticism and touch around the basket to get to the hole and get buckets. His presence on the court alone will create more scoring and passing lanes to teammates but if you think the nba gms are drooling for simmons to get there just so he can pass the ball around to the same bums that made it possible to get him in the first place your sadly mistaken.

VintageKobeParticipantJosh Jackson is a franchise changing talent. He will have a Carmelo like impact on a franchise in his first year.

Butter13ParticipantI saw Jackson play an entire game last summer and he just wasn’t impressive, imo. Sure, he showed decent athleticism, but in the game I saw he was very lackidasical, didn’t show any ball handling skills, didn’t show any real shooting skills (mostly scored on putbacks and transition), and overall just seemed very disinterested. I’m not sure if it’s because he was tired due to playing in summer games/touraments/camps in June, July, August, but he certainly wasn’t looking like a potential top 5 pick in the NBA Draft.
That said, if he’s considered one of the best prospects in the 2017 Draft, that’s a problem.

VintageKobeParticipantSaw him last summer as well inGa. Came away with a completely different impression. Defensively he was everywhere. Offensively he was hitting stepbacks and fadeaway jumpers. His jumper wasnt super consistent but when it was one he was absolutely unstoppable

YungmUNyParticipantThis is an aside from his talent, but I’ve noticed that most people have him as a Michigan State or Arizona lean. How can Michigan State afford a scholarship to bring him in if Deyonta Davis doesn’t leave? Surely Izzo wouldn’t encourage Davis to leave early… that’s just never been his style, and Davis would arguably be more valuable to the Spartans next season than Jackson, with Bridges and Langford also coming in on the wing. They have 0 scholarships available though after Winston and Bridges committed. This one has me confused…

UncledrewParticipantThat’s a good question about the scholarships even though I’m inclined to think if josh wants to be a spartan izzo will find away to make him a spartan. You lost me with the Deyonta Davis talk though. Deyonta will be a good college player but under no circumstance is he more important than josh. The only player remotely close to topping josh you named is Miles bridges but I’d say that is a stretch unless josh game completely jumps off a cliff.

YungmUNyParticipantI don’t think that Davis will ever be half the player Jackson can be, but I was just coming at it from a perspective of what Michigan State needs. They’ll be losing Costello, I’m underwhelmed by Schilling, and if Davis were to leave, that’d leave them with a very small, untalented frontcourt with a very deep, talented backcourt. That’s not your typical Izzo team. I think Davis coming back as a sophomore may be more important for Michigan State winning a 2017 title than bringing in Josh Jackson. They’ll have guys who can create and score on the wing, but they’ll get beaten up down-low without him.
I think most Michigan State fans are thinking that Alvin Ellis may transfer, after a lot of better players coming at his position and after being in Izzo’s dog house, but I don’t see Izzo forcing a player out just because he has the chance at the #1 recruit. That’s a Calipari-Pitino-Donovan move, not an Izzo move. He’s never been one to build his program over one-and-done’s. He’s an area recruiter who brings in guys that fit his program, and although he’s had a lot of transfers in and out recently, he hasn’t exactly forced any of them out in favor of another player.
