SliderParticipantSince the Pistons signed J-Smooth. Who should they target to help Howard, Harden, and Parsons? I still think the Rockets need to trade both Lin and Asik. I also think we need a PF to help Dwight Howard down low. Pelicans already said they won’t trade Anderson for Asik. So who should the Rockets target?

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantI wonder if they’ll take on Kirilenko? He’d fit into their 3 and D scheme. But his injury history, and given the pay he’s seeking, I wonder if that would be a smart move for the Rockets? Or, I wonder if they’re gonna play Jones or Motiejunas at PF?
I think the realistic option will be to address their needs by trading Lin and Asik, maybe together, maybe in separate deals, to address their depth/other starters.

HazelParticipantIt may be wise to just wait it out a little bit. Asik has a lot of value and there is no one in the FA market that would strike me as solid (Ilyasova has already signed.) Jones, Smith and Parsons make a solid rotation for now. It could be that Jones is the answer there since he does fit the mold perfectly if he can just fullfil his potential.
A point guard may end up making more sense to really upgrade with the Asik-Lin package.

SliderParticipantSmith signed with the Pistons. But I think the Rockets should keep a little money for next years FA class. To grab Bosh or James? If they leave Miami next year.

WrecklessParticipantTrade Asik for Ryan Anderson. Seems like a perfect trade. Why wouldnt NO do that? They literally have no bigman depth.

SliderParticipantThe Pelicans already said they won’t do it. They think Anderson is a great asset off the bench. I think they will sign a defensive C later in FA.

treytalkssports.comParticipantOutside the box idea: Dirk Nowitzki
There is no way that Mark Cuban would trade Dirk to another Western Conference, Texas team … unless … the Mavs are not able to put together a playoff team this year. In that case, maybe Dirk, in a respectful way, asks to be traded to a contender. Out of respect for his years at Dallas, would Cuban say no?
If Dirk does want out, is there a better place for him than Houston? They need a stretch power forward, and Dirk needs a defensive center to cover his weaknesses. The Rockets could offer Asik, Terrance Jones, and a future first round pick to the Mavs in a sign and trade (10-12 million over 3 years). Asik could be insurance if (when) Bynum struggles with injuries. The Mavs could hit the reset button and build around their draft pick next year, Asik, Shane Larkin, Ricardo Ledo, Jae Crowder, and Andrew Bynum.

Mad MaxParticipantI think Jones and Montijunas could play the PF spot. Ideally they could make a move for Anderson, but that seems unlikely. Maybe they should look to move Asik for a PG, they’re still without a starting caliber PG in my eyes.

KHAM83ParticipantWhat about Asik for Derrick Williams?
On that note, any update about Pek? I think Dallas is better off pursuing him than Bynum. Either way, if Minnesota losses him, I like the trade idea between the Wolves and Rockets.0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/07/2013 - 9:20am #816071
