Is there anyway that this guy will come to the nba? Considering how well he’s being paid overseas. He’s around 6’6 with the ability to handle the ball. I can see him as an all around, versatile type of player somewhat like chandler parsons. Plus, he’s only 24.

He is a true point guard from his days at Florida. Top-class distributor who has some minor problems with turnovers as he tends to force some eye-popping passes . Inconsistent shooter with a low release point. Good finisher around the rim although not extremely athletic, mostly using his size. Terrific ball-handler. Excellent rebounder for his size. Great defensive player , shut down Euroleague top scorer Juan Carlos Navarro 2 years ago. Has experience from the greatest European coach of all time , Zelimir Obradovic, at Panathinaikos. Was part of the winningest environment of all time in Europe. He averages 13-6-7 in Eurocup (2nd best competition in Europe) this year leading his team to the Quarterfinals with ease. Averages 15-5-6 in the Valtic League against strong teams. Definitely an NBA player who can be an above average backup from the get go. Shown visible improvement every year in Europe. He reminds me of a more flair 6’6” Ramon Sessions. Def NBA material , possible starter on a mediocre team.

Sorry, but Obradovic is no way in hell best European coach of all time. He is super overrated coach. He just had great players and great teams always. He is like Messina, super overrated.

There are much better European coaches than him just in recent years, like Pesic or Ivkovic for example.

Calathes has said in interviews that it’s his dream to play in the NBA, so he does want to be there, maybe teams aren’t that interested in him.
He’s playing pretty well in the Russian league right now (he’s like 9th in scoring and 4th in assists) though he plays on quite a crappy team, and our league pretty much has one good team – CSKA.

His rights are owned by the Mavericks. He signed a 2 yr deal this past summer so the Mavs would have to pay a buyout.
It’d probably be more lucrative for him to stay overseas for at least another season.

I always thought Parsons reminded me of Calathes a lot at Florida. Parsons has been one of the best 2nd round picks in recent memory. I think Calathes could get a look at the NBA sooner than later.

He is a very talented player, but the problem is he is a horribly bad shooter and he has very bad basketball IQ in terms of knowing how to involve teammates and knowing when to look for his own shot.

Certainly an NBA player with no doubt (I mean he’s way better than someone like Patrick Beverley for example), but he was always a huge disappointment in playing at the top European level in Euroleague and with the Greek national team.

I would compare him something to a player like Shaun Livingston but better. Still, he has some big time weaknesses in his game and he has never shown any improvement in them. Actually, he is a much worse shooter now than he was just a few years ago.

What the hell does being a pass first point guard have to do with basketball IQ? Stop trolling. Also, Calathes isn’t any pass first point guard at all. That is guys like Prigioni……..THAT is a “pass first point guard”.

Certainly no way in hell is that guys live Livingston and Calathes.
