laarethekingsParticipantDallas being in the spot light got me thinking… When are they going to bring Nick Calathes over? Also how’s he been playing? Remeber him being a 6 foot 6 and having a little PG in him.
Also looking at the Mavs roster it’s crazy to think that when JJ Barea leaves for some money they’ll reload with Rodrique Beauhois and Nick Calathes.

Lotto StudParticipantBeaubois has not seen any playoff action although he is in the Mavs long term plans. Ijust cannot see Calathes getting any burn when they still have Stevenson getting minutes off the bench. Brewer would get minutes at the 2 before he would.

He played in the playoffs as a rookie and did fairly well, particularly in the game they got eliminated against the Spurs. He’s got more than enough potential, athleticism and ability to fill Barea’s role for instant offense if Barea leaves.
Calathes is an efficient overseas player. He fits as a NBA PG more than any other position at 6’6 with nice playmaking skills and a nice shot, but he’s pretty slow and will probably get burned alot on D no matter what position he defends and he’s pretty weak too. He probably will be able to be a backup combo guard though, simply because he’s a shooter who’s smart enough to make the right passes and not turn the ball over much.

johnecoParticipantcomments are right on.
I would add that Beaubois is physically one of the most promising athletes in the whole NBA, the question with him is his skills development. Before his injury Dallas was super-high on him.
Calathes has had a very good season in Greece. His team won the Euroleague, and he was the MVP in the semifinal. It’s looking like they will also win the Greek league. He’s a very smart and skilled player, with him the question is if he has the physical profile to play in the NBA. Put his brain in Beaubois’ body and you’d have a hall of fame player.
