NCarmean18ParticipantTom Benson (owner of NFL’s New Orleans Saints) tentatively agrees to buy the Hornets for $338 million. NBA.com
What do you guys think about the Hornets being sold, finally? Will he make much of a difference, or will the Hornets be in the rebuilding process for many years to come?

GoodbyeChandlerParticipantIts safe to say that they won’t be leaving New Orleans. Now that the team is no longer owned by the NBA, the front office can finally focus on rebuilding the way they want to, so I guess that the new owner will make a difference. Plus, with 2 picks in the lottery in a draft this deep, the hornets have a chance to get some good talent alongside Eric Gordon (assuming they don’t let him go).

M.GarveyParticipantshould have contracted the team, as well, move the Kings to Seattle, and put MJ and Richard Cho on notice, shape up or you’re getting contracted too.

doubledribblerParticipantHopefully the NBA does not end up owning another basketball team, but I would guarantee that this means the team stays in New Orleans. Not sure the team is going to do well there.
Oh well, off topic, he better hurry up and sign Brees. If you have enough money to buy a bad NBA team, surely you can take care of your franchise quarterback for the team that your city will definitely support and follow.

Memphis MadnessParticipantIn the David Stern storyline angle for the number 1 pick, the Hornets suck and they got CP3 taken from them. So do they get the top pick? Or is Sacramento rewarded for for keeping the Kings and agreeing to building a new stadium. Oh, and Charlotte sucks. I mean, really bad. If they don’t win again they will have the worst winning percentage in NBA history.
All 3 teams could deserve the number one pick. Maybe Stern puts these three team names into a hat and then picks one out. The Bobcats need a great player, but they really suck and are gonna suck next year too. Besides, AD would probably be a bust if he went number one to the Bobcats. And they would probably mess up the 2nd pick too. So Charlotte gets the 3rd pick and in a new marketing twist ALSO gets the number one pick next year. So now Charlotte gets to pick from the MKG/T Rob leftovers and then look to build around a great guy next year too (Zeller, Noel, or McAdoo). MKG is a winner and a guy they could use to run with Kemba Walker. Then they can get their other big man next year to play next to Biyombo.
Yeah, I can see New Orleans getting the 1st pick. Anthony Davis would really energize the team and they could put him next to Chris Kaman. AD would anchor the young core along with Gordon, GV, Bellinelli, and Ariza.
The Kings get rewarded for staying in Sacto and they also get the number 3 pick. T Rob is the obvious pick here and would be a great fit next to Cousins.
The Cavs got the first pick last year. Can’t have them win 2 years in a row. The Nets are run by a Russian so the Trailblazers get their pick/are rewarded for the Oden/Roy nightmare. Stern lets Portland rebuild, and he just forgets about Detroit, again.

HitsterParticipantGood to see that the team is staying in New Orleans, Tom Benson is 85 years old but has his grand daughter as his nominated successor so him being elderly isn’t an issue.
The NBA will be relieved to be free of the Hornets and now the team can look to rebuild via the draft and trying to resign Eric Gordon.
With the Kings staying in Sacramento, any franchise moves now look unlikely short term.
