SwatLakeCityParticipantA few weeks ago I posted my lottery order for the 2010 draft, since then my order has once again been revised. I know it is a little early to do this, but I have seen people post their mocks for the 2010 draft already so why not. Here is the order:(Note: No winner of the lottery has been selected, this is just an order of the worst teams in opposite order. the worst team gets the number one pick and the team that barley misses the playoffs gets the 14th pick.)
1 Kings
2 Bucks
3 Sixers
4 Thunder
5 Rockets
6 Nets
7 Knicks(Jazz pick)
8 T’wolves
9 Grizzlies
10 Clippers
11 Pistons
12 Warriors
13 Bobcats
14 Pacers(Bulls or Jazz might go here too, Jazz if they end up keeping Boozer for the entire season.)
Explanations: The Kings pretty much suck every year, and last year they were the favorite to win the lottery, so I have them pretty much doing the same this year. I am not sure Evans will do well as a PG, since he played SG in college. The Bucks and Sixers both have very raw point guards(Jennings and Holiday, respectively) Jennings is raw because he did not go to college and played internationally for a year, and did not do so well, and Holiday, has very little experience at PG since Collison played it on his team(He should have stayed to get more experience. The PG, i think is the position that pretty much makes or brakes the team. That being said, their first year’s in the NBA as raw point guards, will hurt the team. I think both of them will be solid players but later on in their careers, so that is why I have the bucks and sixers both ranked very high. As for the thunder, I actually think they will get the 6th pick, but they need another C other Mullens(because he is a project) and I think they will target Aldrich, but since Aldrich is probably going 4th or 5th, they will probably trade with the Nets.(who actually gets the Pick). The Nets will do the trade because 1 they do not need a C(They already have Lopez, who should be a good center) and 2 they need a SF(Twill should be a backup to me, and I don’t he will have a very good year) So I think they will be targeting George, and he will probably go 6th or 7th so the Nets can stand to go down 2 spots. The Rockets are going to struggle without Yao.(he being injured and out for the entire season) Yao is pretty dominant and he cannot be replaced, so I think they will not do so well this year(They can do good without Tmac, but without Yao, I very highly doubt it, since he is irreplaceable.) I think Montiejunas would be a good pick for them. The Knicks(jazz pick) pretty much always suck, and right now they still do not have a PG. But that position is not their only issue, they are also having problems signing Lee, and Curry is not producing well since he is getting injured alot, and they also have no SG(unless you think Hughes is going to do well for them)(Too bad they don’t have a pick next year) So they could go higher, but if they sign Sessions, I think he should be very good for them, so he will help that team, but they are going lower then 7. The T’wolves are an interesting team, they could also go higher. I don’t think the combination of Rubio and Flynn will work very well. I doubt that Rubio can play SG, maybe he can be a combo guard, but I doubt a SG They also have a hole at SF(now without Miller) I think Jefferson and Love is a very good combination down low, and will play very well, but they are not going lower then 8. The Grizzlies and Clippers just need depth, but more so the Grizzlies need a PF(I think Brackins would be a good fit for them) As for the Clippers, I think Blake Griffen will have a very good rookie year, and should save that franchise, but they don’t have any depth, so that is why they are in the lottery and not in the playoffs. The Pistons, I still don’t think will keep Hamilton(Prince is a maybe) They still do not have a legitimate center(Unless you think Brown will have a breakout year) The Warriors, earlier I was bashing on them, and I still think that Randolph will struggle against the pros this year, but they still do not have a bad team. Biedrins is doing well for them as is Ellis and Jackson is a solid role player. They also have good depth with Maggette, Morrow and Azuibuke. They could make the playoffs, but they seem to always have problems during the season, so that is why they are picking 12 but could probably go lower. The Bobcats always improve upon last season, they still need scoring but improvement is always happening for them. So that is why they go 13th, and will probably pick Sanders. The 14th pick is where I am having problems. This pick is down to 3 teams, the Pacers, the Bulls and the Jazz(if they keep Boozer for the entire season) Right now it is the Pacers, because they still do not have a SG, Hansbrough was a good pick, and should start and do well for them. And Granger is a star, the leader on this team, so he will help this team do well. They will be scrambling to make the playoffs as did the Bucks, Sixers, Suns, Pistons, and Bulls this year.
What do you think. (Man was that long post, sorry for the explanations, I thought I should explain every team who makes the lottery and why I think they will pick where I have them) But it should be interesting to see what you guys think.0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 5:28am #198541
the microwaveParticipantid love for my sixers to pick 3rd in the draft but it wont happen.. ALso jrue isnt starting for philly to begin with… My sixers will be in the playoffs as a 7th / 8th seed id imagine… I will say though I hope your right.

the microwaveParticipantbut if lou plays well its possible.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 6:00am #198553
SwatLakeCityParticipantSorry the_microwave, but I forgot about Lou Williams. You’re right Williams is starting, Holiday will back him up. They still need a PF or a Center since Brand is getting old and injured alot and also Dalembert is not doing too well. I still see them making the lottery but picking lower then 3. probably 9-14 range
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 6:39am #198577

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantif lou learns to think pass first then philly might be the same or even better then last year (if brand is healthy) since lou can already score

SpencerIsHawesome1. New Jersey- Derrick Favors PF
2. Minnesota- Ed Davis PF
3. Sacramento- Donatas Montiejunas PF/C
4. Golden State- John Wall PGt
5. Charlotte- Cole Aldrich C
6. Milwaukee- John Henson PF
7. Utah(Via NY)- Evan Turner G/F
8. Houston- Solomon Alibi C
9. Philly – Al Faruq Aminu F
10. Indiana- Devin Ebanks F
11. Memphis- Willie Warren G
12. Oklahoma City – Greg Monroe PF/C
13. LA Clippers- Paul George G/F
14. Detroit- Tyshawn Taylor PG0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 7:24am #198589
Michael.S.ParticipantI think there is a .1% chance the lottery even comes close to that. Paul George is a top 5 pick , John Wall is a top 3 no questions asked, Alabi will fall out the top 10, Evan Turner will not go that high at all, and Taylor will not come close to the lottery
IMO0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 7:33am #198594
QHaynes20I like the thought process of your lottery spencer.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 7:39am #198600
SpencerIsHawesomeI figured whoever has #1 will take John Wall… and if its a team like NJ who has 0 need for a PG they will trade him.. Basically I just didnt say Wall will be taken 1 and traded down.
And i dont know much about Paul George haven’t seen him play so I wasn’t sure where he should go.
And for Taylor, he will go higher than he should because of the lack of PG’s, I could see him being the last pick in the lottery to a team that needs a PG.

GreenLanternParticipantNo way Houston finishes worse than friggin New Jersey. The Nets have one of the three worst teams in the league and people are seriously underestimating the Rockets and forget they have been good FOR YEARS now with their star players injured for long streches.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 8:14am #198633
QHaynes20The last time the Rockets missed Yao and McGrady for the big amount of time- they had the 8th pick in the draft….I see them a top 7 lottery team
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 8:18am #198638

GreenLanternParticipantMcGrady is healthy right now and is worth 15 wins. I meant when one or the other is out, the Rockets still win. I should have been more clear about that. Thanks Q.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 8:21am #198639
QHaynes20McGrady is going to miss the first 25-30 games (reported to ESPN, other web sites) he will miss 30 and Yao is down 82. I can see them losing 55 games this year.

McWinningParticipantMine.
1 Kings
2 T’wolves
3 Bucks
4 Knicks(Jazz pick)
5 Nets
6 Rockets
7 Clippers
8 Sixers
9 Grizzlies
10 Bobcats
11 Pacers
12 Warriors
13 Thunder
14 Pistons0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 11:14am #198741
SwatLakeCityParticipantI like your lottery birdzilla, especially since my Jazz are picking 4th. Monroe is a certainty there, heck with that pick we might be able to pick Montiejunas. Although I’m not quite sure the thunder will 13th. Especially with Mullens starting, he is a project, and I think they would be looking to take Aldrich this year to fill in at C.
Here is my new revised lottery:
1 Kings Wall
2 Bucks Davis
3 Twolves Favors
4 Thunder(trade with Nets to get Montiejunas)Montiejunas
5 Knicks(Jazz pick) Aldrich or Monroe
6 Nets George
7 Rockets Aldrich or Monroe(which ever one the jazz do not pick)
8 Grizzlies Brackins
9 Clippers Aminu
10 Sixers Alabi
11 Warriors Ebanks
12 Bobcats Turner
13 Pistons Sanders
14 Pacers Warren
I think that looks a little better, but revision will probably happen several times. What do you think of the picks?0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 11:18am #198742
j1232eParticipantwould be a solid piece for the jazz. it would make us jazz fans easily forget about that boozer guy.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 11:36am #198747
SwatLakeCityParticipant@j232e I agree with you completely. Monroe is a hard worker, and that always fares well with the Jazz, and I especially like him because he is compared to C-webb, and I think that C-webb and the Mailman were very similar back when they were both in the league. I just don’t know if the Jazz would pass on Aldrich if he falls to the 5th pick.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 11:43am #198748
j1232eParticipantokur signed a 2 year contract extension. If kofous does not develop into a consistent player jazz could draft aldrich. But i feel kofous will eventually start at center for the jazz and be a very dependable player. which makes drating aldrich not good. On they other hand everyone knows boozer days with the jazz are limited, so drafting another power forward is very likely. If you watch jazz games the point gaurd and power forward get the most looks and the offense runs through those two positions.

SpencerIsHawesomeDoes everyone on this site think the Kings are the worst team in the league!?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 12:07pm #198756

gatorheelsParticipantYES
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 12:12pm #198759
QHaynes20My pick is the Bucks
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 12:15pm #198761

llperezI think the race for worst team in the league is gona come down to Kings, Wolves, and Bucks. I actually might give the Wolves the edge as the worst team right now. Jefferson is an all-star and I think KLove is gonna have a huge year, but other then that the Wolves don’t have much. Flynn should be good, but if he struggles, it’s all down hill in Mnnestoa.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 12:34pm #198768
SpencerIsHawesomeNo New Jersey?!?
I think you guys are underestimating what Tyreke and a healthy K Mart can do. Their starting 5 is solid Evans-Martin-Nocioni-JT-Hawes. They’re all at least average starters.
The Nets are starting Sean Williams and Yi Jianlian.
The Nets are gonna be the worst team in the league
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 12:40pm #198770
QHaynes20Not the Nets. Harris will be averaging like 27ppg and 5apg next season (thus why i think he will be added to my overrated list by next season)
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 12:41pm #198771

llperezThey will struggle as well. But Harris is an all-star and Lopez might become an all-star caliber big next year. Either way, 7 footers who can demand the ball and draw double teams are rare. The rest of the lineup is filled with solid athletes. They would’nt be starting both Jianlian and sean Williams, it will be one or the other. Kings don’t play defense and they are going to be trusting a rookie pg to run the show. They also have a weak bench. Garcia, Udrih, and Sean Mays are the top bench guys, and that does’nt scare anyone out west. They suck on the road. They went 0-30 vs the east last year. It will be a long rebuilding prcocess for the Kings.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 12:41pm #198772

MagikKnickParticipantSacramento will surprise
There big ass backcourt ought to give teams some trouble
Especially with Evans being defended by, and defending guys that are barely 6 foot on averageBut there still gonna be bottom 5
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 12:54pm #198776
SpencerIsHawesomeWho else is going to start? Josh Boone?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 1:02pm #198782

gatorheelsParticipantNets starting lineup
Harris, Lee, Hayes, Yi, LopezKnicks starting lineup
Duhon, Hughes, Chandler, Harrington, MilicicBucks starting lienup
Ridnour, Redd, Moute, Warrick, BogutKings
Evans, Martin, Nocioni, Thompson, HawesTWolves
Flynn, QRichardson, Gomes, Love, JeffersonTo me the Kings look like the worst team. I also saw where Sac had Tyreke listed as a backup SG & had Udrih as the projected starter at PG. Minnesota could trade QRich & start Wilkins at SG. Knicks could still add Nate, DLee, &or Sessions.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:03pm #198834
SpencerIsHawesomeThats ridiculous if you tihnk out of those starting 5’s that the Kings are the worse. And Tyreke is starting at PG it doesn’t matter what you read the Maloofs have already said he is starting PG from day 1.
Watch when the season comes.. I promise the Kings will not be in last place. NJ has 2 players who are better than terrible on the entire roster. The Bucks are very similar to the Kings except the main differences being Thompson is better than Warrick and Evans is better than Ridnour or Jennings whoever is out there.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:09pm #198838
SwatLakeCityParticipantBucks are not starting Moute. My pick is Alexander, the kid can play.
Bucks starting lineup
Jennings
Redd
Alexander
Warrick
BogutI am still sticking with my latest lottery teams. No changes have been made.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:11pm #198839

gatorheelsParticipantHaha dude it is not ridiculous. Thompson is not better than Warrick. That matchup is pretty even right now. Also Bogut is better than ya boy Hawes…I know that for sure. Bucks also have the better bench. As for the Nets…they have better players than you think. When did Courtney Lee, TWill, Hayes, Dooling, become terrible?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:14pm #198841
QHaynes20Thompson is not better than Warrick
Yea he is. Thompson is on the cusp of a being really good. As a rookie 11ppg and 7rpg….he can be a 20-10 player down the road.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:15pm #198843

llperezthe consensus bottom 4 appears to be Kings, Wolves, Nets, and Bucks, I’ll put them in my order of worst to least worst:
worst 1- Wolves
2-Bucks
3-Kings
4-NetsOf course, it’s really close and you could make an argument to flip flop these teams easily.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:18pm #198846

llperezI would go with Thompson, but he still has a ways to go. He played small around the basket avoiding contact and bringing the ball down low. He and Hawes are in a great position to develop though because the team has no other quality bigs and they will get every opportuniy possible to grow as players.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:19pm #198845

gatorheelsParticipantQHaynes- we aren’t talking down the road… I’m talkin right now. Like I said it is a pretty even matchup.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:21pm #198847

gatorheelsParticipantYall are trippin if you think the Kings are better than the Bucks or Nets. The Kings won 17 games last year hahahah. I can understand the TWolves argument since they have no solid SG & a rookie PG. I still think Minnesota will have a better record than Sac though. Jefferson is just too good.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:30pm #198857

llperezBucks could be better if Redd is healthy. Honestly, Redd and KMart kinda equal each other out. Alexander, moute, Ridnour, Jennings, Warrick are all nothing special or any better then what Sac has. Bogut is better then Hawes, but he would have to step up big time next year if the Bucks are gonna even come close to 30 wins.
I agree the Nets are clearly the best of the 4 I mentioned. 2 all-star caliber players and plenty of athleticism.
As for the Wolves, I love Jefferson and think he is an all-star whether he makes it or not. But he and love don’t compliment each other well at the defensive end because they are both pf’s with questionable athleticism that play below the rim. Flynn is a rookie, and they don’t have much else going after those three. Losing Foye, Miller, and Craig Smith will not help.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:32pm #198859
SpencerIsHawesomePlease point out where I said Hawes is better than Bogut.
Im a huge Hakim Warrick fan, but trust me he is not better than Thompson. Especially if Hakim is at PF.We won 17 games last year.. Martin missed 2 months in the beginning of the season. I don’t know if you understand how good Tyreke Evans is, either. Do you think the guy is a scrub or something? The addition of him alone will translate to at least 5-8 more wins. Throw in a healthy Kevin Martin, starting experience+ an off-season for Hawes and JT and the Kings will get 25 wins. Obviously not great but there will be a team who has less than 25 wins.
The bench leaves a lot to be desired, but our gaurds should be good with Garcia, Sergio, and Beno(yeah Beno sucked last year but 2 years ago he was good and is a good bench player).
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:44pm #198865

gatorheelsParticipantAlso losing McCants, Diogu, & Bobby Jackson is going to hurt that team at least a little. I know that for a fact.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:44pm #198866
SpencerIsHawesomeBy excluding the rest I was saying that Hawes-Noc-Martin pretty much equals Bogut-Moute-Redd. But I agree, there will be a learning curve for Evans but I think by the second half of the season it’ll be all systems go.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:45pm #198864

gatorheelsParticipantSpencer- I know you didn’t say that. I was just pointing that out since you seemed to have forgotten about that matchup. Also yep I wouldn’t say Warrick is any better than Thompson. There isn’t a difference between the two right now IMO. The Kings also got worse once they traded away Salmons & Miller so the return of Martin will even out in my eyes. I know Evans is a stud…..u can look up some of my past posts…I have always rated him highly. But as a rookie I just don’t think he is going to cause the Kings to win many more games. It isn’t easy for a PG to come in & be a huge difference maker as a rookie.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:46pm #198867
SpencerIsHawesomeDiogu never even played, I’d rather have May and Brockman. Bobby Jackson we replaced him with Sergio and Tyreke, I’d say thats a huge upgrade.
McCants is the only one but his playing time would’ve been scarce anyways with Martin-Garcia in front of him.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:46pm #198868

llperezBut I wanted to share this story from last season about the Kings. I was listening to the local Sacramento sports radio show with Grant Napear who is the Kings tv announcer. And he was saying in early October right when pre-season was beigining that the Kings could win 45 games. A guy called in and said he thought it was gonna be a bad year for Sac and that 20-25 wins was more realistic, and Grant just went off on him and talked down to him and belittled him for even suggesting such a thing. Sacramento fans who have listened to Grant before know what I’m talking about when he goes off on callers. I always thought that was pretty funny considering how the year went.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:48pm #198869

gatorheelsParticipantSpencer- U should be happy the Kings are the worst team in the league. Haha 1st pick
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:49pm #198870

MagikKnickParticipantThats what they thought last season lol
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:50pm #198871
SpencerIsHawesomeLol Yeah im just battlin for our team to be considered 2nd worst, at least have almost an ounce of respect haha.. If we do get the first pick, I think we will pass on Wall and go for a shot-blocking tough big man (Favors or Davis?)
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:53pm #198873
SpencerIsHawesomeI dont live in Cali so I dont know about that guy but I can’t believe he predicted 45 wins lol
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:53pm #198874

llperezAnd the best part of that radio interview was when the caller said the Kings did’nt do anything during the off-season to improve the team, and Grant responded with, “Are you kidding me? Get out of here with that ‘we did’nt do anything’. WE RESIGNED BENO UDRIH!!!!” lol
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/10/2009 - 2:55pm #198875

gatorheelsParticipantYeah if Tyreke proves he can play PG then I would trade down a little because there will be a lot of teams that want Wall assuming he has a strong year at Kentucky. Tough choice between Favors & Davis. I would probably think Favors is better for the Kings. He can even play some SF from what I hear. I have only seen Favors play once. The Kings could probably get a veteran big man out of the deal too by trading down.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 08/12/2009 - 3:21am #199610
SwatLakeCityParticipantSpencer, if you had the first pick, you would seriously pass on Wall??? Your point guard Tyreke Evans is not a true point guard, he may be good, but he is really a true SG. Besides, your team is getting real frustrated with Beno, as well as Hawes, but a PG to me is a more pressing need than C.(Since the PG is the leader of the team.) Wall is a true point guard, and would do well on your team, I think. I can see you guys picking Wall, have him start at PG, Evans at SG, martin at SF, Thompson at PF, and Hawes at C. Then you can use Beno, Nocioni, and Garcia as backups which is where they should be. Think of how much Wall could benefit your team. And besides if you said that Thompson is a future 20-10 guy, then you obviously don’t Favors or Davis, because Thompson is already your future big man.
But hey if I am wrong, and tyreke does have a good year at point, and the fans are fine with keeping him there, then go and ahead and draft Favors. He can play both PF and SF, so that is a luxury, which makes him better than Davis in my eyes. I still think Wall is your pick though.0 - AuthorPosts
