I love an underdog and it is great to see some lower teams get out of the lottery and back into the playoffs.

    Namely Charlotte, Toronto and Washington.

Charlotte are 8-4 in their past 12 games

Raptors have gone really well this season since getting rid of their two cancers – Rudy Gay and Bargnani. They are 28-16 in their past 44 games.

If all three teams can miss Indiana and Miami in the first round, which teams do you think will advance to the second round of the playoffs in the East ?

Bigger question, do they have a chance at beating the slumping Heat or Pacers? If I would have to put money on an upset, I would probably say Washington of the Heat, as they actually match up pretty well on defense, and have Wall on offense against the liabilities at PG for the Heat. I’m not saying it will happen, but I had to choose, that probably would be my gamble.

I think the Wizards are the safest bet, because star power can really propel you in the playoffs and I just think what John Wall is doing this year is going slightly under appreciated.  He is averaging something like 20ppg/8.5apg/4.5rpg…not to mention only like 5 players (something like that) have ever averaged 20 and 10 in a season, and the last to do it was Chris Paul and he does still get dangerously close every year.  But Wall is going to bring his, it will be interesting to see if Beal does as well b/c that’s how they can put daggers in teams.  It also helps if Martell Webster starts playing like a veteran who hs been in the league for 8 years.  He has been playing better lately, but I am pretty sure he has never been in the playoffs which could hurt them.

After Washington, Toronto is my next choice just b/c the great play by Kyle Lowry, Demar DeRozan I think will present problems for teams that are still relatively unknown of his talent/skills and then you Terrence Ross who has stepped up his game in a big way this year.

But it’s March madness so who doesn’t want to see another Kemba Walker run?!!  God that was great.  Al Jefferson may be the most under rated player in the league this year too.  In the end 2 out of these 3 teams will probably play each other so it will be intersting to see which one advances.  I would take Washington > Toronto and Toronto > Charlotte.

Toronto has matched up well against Indiana this year. PG gas struggled against Toronto and other than a game where Gay shot the ball 26 times and Derozan 15 times (I think 2-15) Derozan has dominated the other two games.  Indiana has only lost 4 games at home this year Toronto beat them in Indiana and the teams match up well. Toronto has a huge advantage at PG and Indiana a huge advantage at C with Hibberts experience over Valanciunas and with overall depth and toughness.

I really want to see an Indiana Toronto playoff matchup though.

And to Drice4Life as a Raptors fan I am nowhere near concerned with Washington. Raps played them 4 times this year going 3-1. The one game Toronto lost went to triple overtime. Weve handled them all year.
