IndianaBasketballParticipantRandolph squeezed out of Warriors’ rotation
Anthony Randolph is the latest player to find room in Don Nelson’s doghouse.
The Golden State Warriors’ promising young forward played in USA Basketball’s minicamp over the summer and was expected to start at power forward. But after Randolph was limited by a preseason back injury he was slow to report, Nelson recently moved swingman Stephen Jackson to power forward because he is “240 pounds” and moved Randolph to backup center behind journeyman Mikki Moore.
“He’s not necessarily a good shooting [power forward], but he can be a good shooting [center] because [centers] can’t shoot very well,” Nelson said of Randolph.
Randolph, who has averaged eight points, 4.7 rebounds and just 14 minutes in three games, is extremely frustrated by the move.

IndianaBasketballParticipantAm I the only one who thinks it’s time for Nelly to go lol?
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 2:45pm #227306

llpereznelly has always been a bit of a goofball. He always wants to mix things up and be different. I do think Randolph needs to earn the starting spot, but behind Mikey Moore?…please.

JNixonParticipantI definitely think so….the reasons for the things he does are retarded. Starting Jackson at PF because he’s 240 lbs, and playing Mikki Moore over Randolph just aren’t smart. It’s actually quite ridiculous.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI’ve grown to dislike Nelly. Last season Al Harrington was in the doghouse and then when he got traded, Nelly replaced him with Jamal Crawford. Somebody is always in his doghouse. It makes no sense that Randolph isn’t at least in the rotation.

quincey hodgeslol..tht was pretty funny..randoplh jumper is bad but thats pretty dumb to put him at the center position..figured randolph wasnt gonn abe a big factor this year though even if it doesnt seem to be 100percent his fault

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipant8 PPG and 5 RPG in 14 MPG. Mathematically speaking, this kid would average a double double if he played 28 MPG. Sounds pretty good, don’t you think?
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 3:20pm #227337
quincey hodgesyeah but you can say the same for many players who dont play much
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 3:31pm #227351

gatorheelsParticipantRandolph is a monster. Nelson has to go. This same ole story is getting ridiculous. Randolph at least needs to play around 28 minutes a game. Playing him at Center is stupid. You don’t have to have a great jumpshot to be an effective PF.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 3:36pm #227356
quincey hodgeslol..wouldnt put him in the amare catagory(monster)…more like good player…monster in the summe rleauge though..was just a good player in preseason
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 3:45pm #227364

gatorheelsParticipantI’ve seen Randolph play in person….he has major skills. Just needs a smarter coach or at least a coach with common sense haha.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 3:50pm #227367
quincey hodgesive seen him play on tv….pretty much the same as seeing him in person..lol…i do think nellie needs to play him ore..but people seem to be missing that he always has some flaw that hurt the team when hes in the game that maybe on a worst team he could play through but when you trynna when you tend to go with the sure things in vets and dont really take the time to develop young players because youre on the hot seat…same situation down in new orleans with collins and thortan

JNixonParticipant^ Quincey stay startin a argument lol

quincey hodgeswit this guy im been ont he oppisite end since summer time remeber…im gonn astand by my guns till he proves me wrong:)
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 4:12pm #227373

gatorheelsParticipantThere is a pretty big difference between watching a player in person & on TV but no sense in arguing about it.
Randolph will get his shine on soon enough. At least I hope he does ha.
Quincey- How you like living in Bradenton? I wish I was down there…that is paradise. I’ve been there many many times.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 4:54pm #227407

marcusfizer21ParticipantNellie is a cancer… He just lets the team die a slow and painful death this season by making dumbheaded moves like this one…
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 5:00pm #227411

butidonthavemoneyI’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…
Randolph is the most overrated player in the league.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 5:06pm #227412

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantPlease elaborate, sir………
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 5:16pm #227413

gatorheelsParticipantbutidonthavemoney- How is he the most overrated player in the league? That is pure ludicrous.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 5:29pm #227415

butidonthavemoneyWhat is pure ludicrous is how highly everybody thinks of him. Pre-season and summer-league? Whoo-hoo. I predict an all-star!
Anthony Randolph has done nothing to warrent the praise he gets from people. Specifically the praise he gets from all of you!
I’m not hating on the kid but he is retardedly overrated.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 5:35pm #227421

marcusfizer21ParticipantThat’s a good point butidonthavemoney… But we have to go back to the center of cause to why Randolph has yet to blow and that is Nellie… To put him under his so-called doghouse will make him more overrated by the fact that he’s not getting enough playing time thus hasn’t really shown what he could do… Like I said, Nellie is cancer.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 5:42pm #227424

butidonthavemoneyI’ve heard the Nellie excuse but I disagree with that arguement. Just because he isn’t playing doesn’t mean that if he was he would be good. People say the same thing about Jerryd Bayless. Randolph has potential up the yang but I don’t think he would get significant playing time on any NBA team right now besides the Grizzlies, Knicks and maybe the Clippers.
Whenever I think of Anthony Randolph I think of the kid who cried after Lamar Odom knocked him to the ground. He needs to man up before he can play NBA basketball.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 5:43pm #227428

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantI can’t speak for everybody else here, but I’m not basing it off of pre-season and summer league. I expect a lottery pick who got decent minutes during his rookie season to dominate during summer league. I’m basing it off of what he showed during his 1st year. This guy has serious length, athleticism and underrated ball-handling ability. He can’t really shoot, but that can come with time. He just has to keep working hard to improve his game. You are more than titled to your opinion of Randolph, but so are we. I believe that the sky is the limit for Anthony Randolph.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 5:44pm #227430

gatorheelsParticipantIf Randolph has a poor year then I will admit I was wrong.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 5:45pm #227426

gatorheelsParticipantbutidonthavemoney- I see what you are getting at but I never said Randolph would be an all-star this year. Maybe some other people on here thought that. I think he would be a solid starter if Nelson would give him the chance. His talent is not overrated. Just remember when Randolph starts balling you will regret all that overrated talk. My opinion has never even been altered by summer league. I was the original one on here hyping Randolph & Morrow way before summer league. You can look up old post ha.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 5:45pm #227431

marcusfizer21ParticipantSummer League performances are baseless. They don’t translate what the player is going to be in the NBA. Prime examples, well, Anthony Randolph and Jerryd Bayless. These two have so much potential and it showed in the summer games but it NEVER meant that they’re going to be a star immediately in the NBA… Like I said, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas..LOL
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 5:48pm #227436

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantDon’t forget Marco Bellinelli, Gerald Green, Marcus Banks, Donte Greene and Adam Morrison.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 5:50pm #227437

butidonthavemoneyI won’t point to specific posters but people have clearly been overhyping him since the summer league. I’m not talking about you gatorheels. I didn’t say, “Gatorheels is overhyping Randolph.” But in general he is terribly overrated.
Randolph has already started balling.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 5:51pm #227442

marcusfizer21ParticipantThat was a scary incident and for a young guy like Randolph, he has that reason to be scared after that nasty fall not to mention he got called for a foul…
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 5:52pm #227443

butidonthavemoneyI hope I’m wrong. I want Randolph to suceed. I really don’t care whether or not you guys are right. I give you permission to pull this topic up after his first 20 point game this season and say “I TOLD YOU SO!”
These are just my thoughts, I never called myself an expert.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/06/2009 - 5:58pm #227451

gatorheelsParticipantbutidonthavemoney- I hear what you are saying…its all good. I had never seen that video yet. Pretty nasty fall..

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantAny other "I thought it was… Randolph" jokes after those two are going to suck so let’s just stop there.
I’m looking at you ProudGrandpa.
