Knicksboy34ParticipantIf you saw part 1, your gonna love the redo of the NCAA Tiers! I took into consideration all opinions. Here is my top 4 Tiers. If you dont know here my criteria (I rate 1-10).
Coaching Position (If the Job opened up, how valuable is it?)
Recruiting ( How well you recruit players)
History (All-Time History, players, coaches)
NBA success (players sent to the pros)
Championships ( NCAA and Conference Titles. Winning Helps!)Tier 1: The Best Schools in College Basketball. (In Order)
UCLA (10,9,10,10,10) The Best School in College Basketball
North Carolina (10, 10, 9, 9, 10) UNC almost sweep the Everything and is #2 overall
Duke (10, 9, 8, 8, 10) Duke has trouble getting recruits now but they have done well.
Kansas (10,9,10,8,8) 2 Nat Titles, rich history rank them high but lack of next level guys.
Kentucky(8,9,10,8,10) Rich Tradition, Success but coaching and NBA success tad low.Tier 2: The 2nd 10. Missing a couple things?
Indiana (9,9,10,8,8) Rich Tradition, lost on on a (coin-flip) but are 1st tier good
Georgetown (8,10,10,8,8) Another Rich School. lost some luster over the past seasons.
Michigan State (8,8,9,8,8) not alot of NBA stars but alot of Titles and History
Ohio State (8,9,9,8,7) Rich Tradition, Strong Recruiting but lacking Titles
Arizona (9,8,7,8,8) Arizona is lacking somethings but overall a solid historic teamTier 3: The Middle (and sometimes underrated) Schools
Syracuse (8,8,9,7,8) Decent, not alot of NBA success, but alot of Title appearances.
UConn (8,8,7,8,8) Not alot of History and the coaching position is good not great.
Michigan (7,8,8,9,7) Fab 5 and Glen Rice does wonders. Coaching and Titles hurt.
Memphis (8,8,7,8,7) A couple Final 4’s, star recruits but lost some luster last season.
Florida (10,8,7,8,7) Another young team, big success recently and hotbed of recruitsTier 4: Missing something but still great School
Louisville(7,8,8,7,8) Great History but little to no NBA Success.
LSU (7,8,8,8,7) Shaq and the Pistol pushes them up but lack of everything else.
Gonzaga (8,8,6,7,7) Last 20 years of success but not alot of history and NBA Success
Villanova (8,7,7,6,7) Nat Title and coaching position pushes them into the 4th Tier
Texas (8,7,7,7,5) Texas is my last team, KD and other help but they don’t win alotLet the Debate Begin!!!

Knicksboy34ParticipantI think Kansas is more rich in tradition and is a better coaching job

gatorheelsParticipantI don’t think Gonzaga should be on this list. Compared to the other teams in that tier they just don’t compare too strongly. For example- LSU would be a better coaching job, gets better recruits, better nba success (pistol, shaq, anthony randolph, big baby, tyrus thomas), better history. Yeah Gonzaga wins a lot but they play in such a weak conference. I wouldn’t put Memphis ahead of Louisville either. Ohio St. is probably too high. Overall good list though, looks pretty accurate.

Knicksboy34ParticipantGonzaga did produce Stockton…
Memphis has more NBA Success and I think is a better Job IMO.
Ohio State…very underrated. They have titles, HOF’s (John Lucas and John Havelcick) and I think the is excellent recruiting school.

KevinDurantRocksParticipantMid Major Schools. Sure they struggle at times more then most top teams but playing at best they could beat any top team. And the WEST cost conference isn’t as weak as everybody thinks. Last year they got in 3 teams to Ncaa. One of those teams beat Uconn. If you take Gonzaga off the list take Memphis off to because now that John is gone there is no star recruits going to come in. There not going to dominate there weaker then West Coast Conference League but sure they do belong up there along with the Zags and they do have more wins but still i dont see them dominating anymore. Not to mention Gonzaga had the best defense in the NCAA this year which is not typical of them. I dont seem them being great this year but next year watch out

HaleParticipantI think North Carolina should have a 10 for History or NBA success. I think they are just as good and should be ranked as such as UCLA, except the Bruins had the dominant period with Alcindor and Walton. That is just me though.

Knicksboy34ParticipantYou named 1 HOF….Magic Johnson. They have solid NBA Success….not alot of NBA Stars
I know what im talking about. No need to be rude

llperezI think you could bump UConn up one tier just based on their present success both in mens and women’s ball, but overall a great list.

Knicksboy34ParticipantYea if i was counting women’s basketball UConn would be 1st

Knicksboy34ParticipantFlorida State- Not enough winning, coaching position is not that great and not the greatest History

Adi JosephThe game was created at Kansas.
I would switch Indiana and Duke – before Coach K, Duke wasn’t a top 25 program. Before Bobby Knight, Indiana was still very reputable.
Also, there are a lot of programs better than Gonzaga. Maryland comes to mind immediately.

Knicksboy34ParticipantI cannot switch Duke and Indiana…I think Duke is a better coaching, had more NBA players have Success (Isash Thomas is the big name that come to mind) and Duke (with help from UK) produced The greatest college basketball game in Tourney history.
Also, If I had to switch Gonzaga with anyone…I was think Cincinnati. Nice History and a couple NBA guys…
