Ghost01ParticipantI honestly wish young players would put smart and good people around them. There are definitely people out there too worried about brand and such, and you end up in a Dwight Howard situation. Or, you take the Lebron route and surround yourself with friends as opposed to businessmen, and you make big mistakes.

JoeWolf1I know nothing about Noel’s personal situation, but the NCAA is getting ridiculous. It’s almost like NCAA athletes can’t have friends or get birthday presents from anyone besides family. I’m currently paying off thousands of dollars in student loans right now, so I think a free college eduacation and national television exposure to NBA scouts is plenty payment but let them be kids too.
Perry Jones III got suspended in the NCAA tournament because his dad took a 1,000 dollar loan from a family friend in which he paid back in full before the investigation. Rick Magerus got in trouble for buying his team McDonalds on a road trip, don’t force isolation for these young athletes. There has to a be a way in which the NCAA can regulate schools and boosters paying athletes, while still letting them and their families have normal relationships without risking suspension. Who doesn’t know someone with a rich uncle or family friend that got someone an awesome gift? That’s fine in real life, but if the kid just happens to play in the NCAA it’s all of a sudden bad. Doesn’t make sense.
