WizardofOzParticipantI know there have been a lot of post like this, and they are quite fun. Guess which players these are.
Player 1:
One of the game’s best post scorers. Gets about a quarter of his shots up from post ups with another fifth coming from each of spot ups, pick and rolls, and isolations. Has a decent left handed jumper that he can shoot with consistent range out to around 22-feet. Doesn’t have to rely on his jumper due to his tremendous quickness. Able to beat his man off the dribble regularly. Pretty good ball handler for a player his size. Tends to drive all the way to the rim rather than pull up when he puts the ball on the floor. Gifted post player. More of a face up threat than a traditional back to the basket player. Great finisher at the rim when he’s not posting up. Loves to dunk in traffic. Shoots a ton of free throws and knocks them down at a very high rate. Length makes him a good offensive rebounder. A capable post defender that can do some nice things on the block. Has the ability to step out and effective defender almost any post player when they face up or catch the ball out on the perimeter. Has a very hard time holding position due to his lack of size. Rebounds the ball and block shots at a respectable rate, but isn’t a major standout in either.Player 2:
Great 3-point shooter. Possesses one of the prettiest strokes in the entire league, complete with effortless mechanics, beautiful follow-through, deep range, and outstanding touch. Excellent shooter from a stand-still, but also very much capable of knocking down contested shots with a hand in his face—actually excels doing so. Outstanding moving off the ball and using screens. Not just a 3-point shooter. Takes what defenses give him. Can drive to the rim left or right, but tends to pull-up when driving left. Has an outstanding mid-range game. Not a great finisher due to average strength, but gets to free throw line at a solid rate thanks to his craftiness and aggressiveness, and is a great free-throw shooter. Very good passer, not selfish in the least bit. Extremely efficient. Very mistake-free. Just an average athlete in terms of his first step and overall explosiveness, making him best suited as a second or third option. On defense, he puts in the effort, and understands how to maximize himself, but possesses average lateral quickness, which limits his effectiveness.Player 3:
Is a low-post threat, where he utilizes his terrific touch to knock down jump-hooks with either hand, show excellent footwork on his drop-step move, beat guys off the dribble facing up from the mid-post, or even get flashy with a pretty running hook shot. He has a quick first step, and is very fluid and agile. He is also an excellent passer, amongst the best bigs in the league in assists. He can also step out and knock mid-range jumpers at a solid rate, and is particularly effective from 14-18 feet. If needed, he can even hit an international range 3-pointer. He has terrific tools to get the job done on defense, as he has great size, length and agility—allowing him to cover either the 4 or the 5 spots with varying degrees of success at the NBA level. His length is a big asset in terms of contesting shots, and he is capable of playing fairly solid on-ball defense when he puts his mind to it. He lacks the bulk to defend some of the heavier back to the basket matchups he’ll encounter at times, giving up position in the low post and getting outmuscled. He can block shots at a decent rate and is also a solid rebounder, although he’s not what you could call a beast in either category.Player 4:
An explosive offensive player. Gets a quarter of his offense from each of isolations, spot ups, and a blend of fast breaks and post ups. Does most of his damage with his jumper. Prone to forcing some shots over defenders, especially off the bounce. Decent three point shooter, still has room to improve his consistency though. Takes a lot of pull up jumpers, using his quickness to get inside and his leaping ability to rise above traffic. Athleticism is a blessing and curse since is makes him a threat to score one-on-one, but allows him to get some shots off that he probably shouldn’t take. Can get to the rim driving in either direction and has no problem creating separation. Has improved his ball-handling since he entered the League, only augmenting his fantastic first step. On the turnover prone side, and doesn’t make his teammates better. Brings little to nothing to the table as a passer, and needs to improve his ability to find the open man when he draws additional defenders. Doesn’t get to the line at the rate his athleticism could warrant. Not a great defender considering his tools, but has his moments when he’s motivated. Has all the physical tools of a lockdown defender, but lacks the right mentality to get the job done. Wingspan allows him to at least contest spot up jumpers when he closes out, but he’s far from aggressive.Player 5:
Gets his touches from a very equal blend of diverse situations including: spot ups, fast breaks, cuts, post ups, isolations, and pick and rolls. Ranks as one of the most efficient offensive players in the game due to the number of open looks he gets at the rim. Is the beneficiary of great guard play and a tremendous supporting cast, but is a tremendous talent as well. Runs the floor well, and trails plays straight to the rim looking for putbacks. Has no trouble finishing at the rim. Uses his incredible athleticism to weave around defenders for easy lay ins. Blows by his man, even with very limited room to operate. Has a very high release point on his jumper and nice touch. Good offensive rebounder. Loses the ball periodically when he puts it on the deck around the rim. Simply too explosive to contain for most defenders. A nice weakside shot blocker who is starting to improve his defense, but still has a long way to go. Doesn’t maximize his physical tools regularly on defense. Likes to stand in the middle of the paint and wait for the play to come to him. Isn’t a very good man-to-man defender, but can be when he makes the effort to force tough shots. Extremely foul prone. Doesn’t grab many defensive rebounds. Needs to dedicate himself on the defensive end to take his team to the next level.0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/15/2010 - 7:36am #332637

Raef LaFrentzParticipantFirst has got to be Bosh.
Second guy is Ray Allen?
Third is definitely Pau Gasol.
The fourth guy is Rudy Gay(if it’s not than I have no clue).
The fifth report has got to be Amar’e. When I read “doesn’t grab a lot of defensive rebounds”, that gave it away.

Raef LaFrentzParticipantYeah nice job. Gasol was the easiest choice for that scouting report. How old are these reports, I wonder?

Tyreke JohnsonParticipantChris Bosh
Ray Allen

WhyParticipantRip Hamilton, just cause everyone else is saying Allen
And I would consider Gasol pretty beastly at rebounding. If thats a scouting report for Pau Gasol (#3) I don’t like it that much

Raef LaFrentzParticipantI wasn’t 100% sure about the Rudy Gay one, but I lucked out I guess.
