OhCanada-ParticipantThe awnser is most definitely yes. Here are the facts, Francesco Aquilini is a savvy and risk taking buisnessman who is doing everything he can to give Vancouver an NBA Basketball team. Aquilini currently owns one of the NHLs most successful teams, the Vancouver Canucks. Aquilini is not scared of losing Chris Paul, David West, and is not scared of the immediate threat approaching, the 2011-NBA Lockout.
In 2004 Aquilini became a 50% owner of the Vancouver Canucks, a large gamble as the NHL was currently in a lockout and many thought buisness in the NHL was not going to be a smart route. He completed the purchase in 2007 becoming the fll owner and today the Vancouver Canucks are the best team in the NHL (standings, and popular belief), they have 2 of the most exciting/talented players, have had 337 straight wins, and gained $50-Million in team value!
Many people believe this is how Las Vegas will make it into the NBA, although the citizens of Las Vegas are having a hard time agreeing to the desired locations of the arena. Without an arena or a least a permit for an arena you cant have a team. Pittsburgh would be a location capable of accomidating an NBA team although many would wonder if Pennsylvania can support the 76ers and a new team in Pittsburgh, although I cannot deny the fact that many Pitt fans would like a team of their own, it may just take more 76ers fans away from that team. Vancouver has a ready arena, a whole Northwest Coast in fans looking for an NBA team, half a country who is sick of the Raptors retarded form of management and ownership (Id jump on board if I wasnt from Toronto), and a dedicated owner (who just needs a partner in ownership).
Its one thing to own a team and expect attendance and success, its another to work for it. Aquilini is the type of owner with a sense of irection, who gives his fans what they want. I would love to see this team go to Vancouver, or Seattle, and if not I would like to see it stay in New Orleans. Bringing justice to the forgotten Northwest coast one city at a time. If New Orleans relocates it will be 2013-2014.

OhCanada-ParticipantOops I changed the title, I was asking if the NBA "could be" returning to Vancouver…The awnser is not yes yet, just a valid possibility.

Tha_PrinceParticipantI agree if a city can hold the Olympics I think they can hold an NBA team, plus with the growing exposure of Basketball in Canada having a team now and a team 10 years ago is a HUGE difference.
I would love to cheer for another Canadian NBA team!

SwatLakeCityParticipantIn order for this to happen there would have to be no buyers that would keep the Hornets in New Orleans. According to ESPN there are a lot of buyers. So surely there is at least 1 who will keep the team in Louisiana. Commissioner Stern really wants the team to stay where it is at. So I expect him not to budge on that unless he can’t find a buyer that is willing to keep them in New Orleans. Sorry but things don’t look good for Vancouver, because there are so many buyers interested. If someone with Insider could please post that article from ESPN’s Rumor page it would very much appreciated.

Meditated StatesParticipantIt would help the league and the city. The only concern is gambling. But gambling happens everywhere.

JoeWolf1Wasn’yt the Grizzlies attendance always in the bottom part of the league? Even their first year I think they were maybe in the middle.
