I just got done reading a article on Espn and the article is basically making a case for abolishing the conferences in the nba. The Dallas Mavs are 43-30 and will not be making the playoffs while the hawks have a 31-40 and will be making it. How ridiculous is that? I also feel like the top 16 records in the league should make the playoffs. Whether that means 2 teams from the west make it then so be it. I’m really hoping Adam silver is looking into making this a change because it would make the game so much better

He’s too new of a commissioner to do something drastic. I’d imagine he’ll wait out a few years, maybe in hopes that the conferences even out, to make any changes.

I completely agree. I really wish the NBA would have more of a similar format to college basketball. I feel the # of NBA games during the season should be cut in half (although it would never happen due to less revenue). It would make games in the regular season more exciting, and players would get hurt less. The playoffs need to be changed also (should include top 16 teams from both conferences).

i was talking over with some buddies a few months ago and saying that the ideal set up was to have a set-up simillar to the NFL. all division winners get an automatic seed and the 4th best team in the conference would get a ticket to the play-offs. then the remaining 8 spots goes to the teams with the best records left. you seed the 16 teams 1-16 instead of 2 sets of 1-8. this format would make divisional games much more important as well as give relevance to the east and west conferences.

if this was how the set up was and the regular ended, we would have the following match-ups:

    (1)San Antonio vs (16)Minnesota

    (8)Golden State vs (9)Phoenix

    (4)LA Clippers vs (13)Chicago

    (6)Houston vs (11)Memphis

    (5)Miami vs (12)Toronto

    (3)Indiana vs (14)Brooklyn

    (7)Portland vs (10)Dallas

    (2)Oklahoma vs (15)Washington

that to me is a much better set of games and match-ups for the play-offs.

       That’s way too unrealistic.

Mainly because that would mean the Wolves would make the playoffs.

God I hate being a Wolves fan.
