"I know some teams believe they should tank," Young said. "I know a lot of teams out there are probably doing it, because they believe this draft is going to be one of the biggest drafts that’s happened in a long time.

"But for me, I haven’t really paid attention to it. I think we’re not going out there just to lose for the draft because I still think we want to be in the league. These guys are coming in to take our spots, so, I’m not about to give up for somebody else to come in and take my spot." – Nick Young

Nick Young comes across as a very full of himself guy out out on the court but that’s a really good view as a player. To not give up just because you team is and still fighting for your spot in the league.

I think most people are under the assumption that every player goes out there to win the game.  Noone is going out and purposely missing shots.  It’s the front office that decides whether the team is tanking.  When a GM starts trading serviceable pieces for future picks and expiring contracts and the coach has a bunch of development league players with one year deals to play around with thats when we know the team is tanking.  Yes I’m talking about you Philadelphia.

So true. It wasn’t like Philly was setting the world on fire prior to trading Hawes and Turner but they basically guaranteed they’d have a top three pick. Unfortunately in order to get good in the NBA you have to draft a good player in a draft that actually has good players in it to choose from or draft a player that turns out better than anyone thought.
