King CaluchaParticipantBtw, great win by France in the last minute. Diaw is looking good as usual. Yesterday I was really impressed by Valanciunas against Ayon. Ayon defended fiercely but it wasn’t enough to stop him… he commanded double teams all the time.

Jr. ROXASParticipantThere are rumors that the Pacers are interested in Zoran Dragic. Will be a GREAT sign for them if it does happen. He and Stuckey will fill in admirably for George while he is out.

McDunkinI would put Egypts leading scorer and rebounder Assem Marei of Minnesota state but unfortunately he wasn’t going to be back from surgery before the tournament but watch out for him as he enters his senior year.

Jester87ParticipantI haven’t seen the game, but from the boxscore it seems Dieng single handedly won the game against Croatia. While it’s true that Croatia had already struggled against Team BALTCHE, Dieng is quietly having a really impressive world cup, after playing very well in the second part of his rookie season. Has anyone seen the game and can say something else? I have a hunch that we all underrated Dieng when he came out of college. At least I did.

geothermalParticipantI’m tired of hearing that the Philippines is a One Man show, Have you recently watched the games? In our three different games, locals stepped up,
Vs. Croatia, Jeff Chan , a 6’2 light framed shooting guard exploded for 17 points, Marc Pingris, an undersized power forward 6’6" battled against the incoming Saric and Rudez and scored 10 points
Vs. Greece, June Mar Fajardo, 6’10 Forward muscled in 10 points with 7 rebound, Marc Pingris with 7 points and 6 rebounds
Vs. Argentina, Which is a closed one, a classic Nail Biter, Jimmy Alapag, 5’10" pg scored 15 points with Ranidel De ocampo dropped 18 points shooting 4/8 from the distance,
Blatche is the centerpiece of the dribble drive offence of us pinoys, the versatility of the Blatche helps free up players, blatche is always double team and his drive to the basket gives the pinoys space to shoot, if you watch the games you will see many passes and nice ball movement
you only see the statistics not the whole game, well you stated that you did’nt watched but that does not give you right to insult a team, respect us as we respect you,
Watch all the three games and you will be seeing the passion and the determination of us pinoys

Jester87ParticipantROTFL, I wrote team BALTCHE only because I wanted to write BALTCHE because it’s fun and because the idea that Blatche is the centerpiece of a team is kinda hilarious, I really don’t see where have I written that Philippines is a One Man show. What the hell is wrong with you? I wrote single handedly referring to Dieng and Senegal, but again, even about that one I didn’t write I was sure, I just wrote that reading the boxscore you could get that impression. Just read before going for psychotic rants.

King CaluchaParticipantA quick recap of the first stage. Barea ended up putting 22ppg, which is pretty good.
Francisco Garcia was a nice surprise, putting up 20.3 ppg on 61% FG and 65% 3pt (6.5 attempts per game). Those numbers are good enough to guarantee some minutes as a sharpshooter off the bench in the NBA.
Gorgui Deng look great as a rim protector, but that might be because there isn’t a 3-second defensive rule in FIBA ball. Anyway, he looked like a leader on the floor eventhough he’s still young.
Now Dario Saric. All I can say is: I want to see this guy in the NBA. He really excels at creating for others. It doesn’t matter if he doesn’t record the assist, as his skill gets someone else open. He’s pretty good.
